Without the Love
And Life Was Complete
It was snowing. Large, white flakes fell slowly from the gray sky (the city lights made it impossible for a black night sky) and found themselves landing in their hair as the two walked. His tall shadow blacked out some of the light from the street lamps, hiding her shadow in its length, and his arm brushed against hers as they walked.
“So, you’re telling me that you won’t turn eighteen until July?” Alex sounded so surprised that Macaria had to laugh, throwing her dark hair back over her shoulder.
“Is that a problem?” She blinked up at him in the dim lighting, a teasing smile on her face.
The two had been hanging out sporadically since they had met, in October. They had gone mini golfing, went ice skating, celebrated his birthday with his best friends, and had had Christmas Eve dinner with her family. She had met his parents, briefly, but they didn’t raise eyebrows at their weird friendship the same way that her family had.
Alex shrugged and grinned down at her. “No, I just didn’t know your birthday was so far away. I, uh, kind of have something planned.” His face was red underneath the four days growth on his cheeks, uncomfortable and shy; feelings he had never felt around a girl before.
“Oh yeah?” They came to a stop at her car. Macaria leaned against the Impala, her hands in the pockets of her jacket, and smiled up at him. “Trying to out do me?”
For Alex’s twentieth birthday Macaria had bought him a guitar signed by all the members of Green Day and had wrapped it in music note wrapping paper. He had loved it and nearly kissed her in front of his parents. Not that he didn’t want to. - he had been thinking about it for weeks. It had to do more with Macaria, her age, and her personality.
She didn’t need him.
And he wasn’t even sure if she wanted him.
But he knew he wanted her.
“I kind of need to,” he stepped a little bit closer to her. “You’re just so fantastic.”
“Fantastic?” He could see the blush forming on her face.
In the snow, under the halo from the street lamp, she had never looked more beautiful. Alex cupped her cheek in his hand and dipped his head down to press his lips, softly, against hers.
Macaria stilled at the initial touch, panicking for a second at the action, before leaning up on her toes to wrap her arms around his neck. Their lips moved against each other’s, fast, sloppy, his arms tugging her closer until her feet were not touching the ground and her breath fast against mouth.
When he set her down, taking a large step back. Both of them were breathing heavy and she had to brace herself against the car for support.
“Yeah,” Alex chuckled, “fantastic.”
Notes
Hi everyone!
Sorry for the month since updating - the holidays are always a huge deal in my house and the end of the semester tried to drown me. I swear.
NaNoWriMo novel also took up so much time (and only 42,000 words :()
But I’m back! And There will be a main storyline update coming sometime this week.
This chapter’s song is “When I Found You” by Amber Pacific ft. Alex Gaskarth.
And holy crap, can anyone else believe that they’re taking a break in 2019? I was so looking forward to a new album. At least Alex still plans on writing for other bands - I love when he does songs with other artists. His Christmas song with Lindsey Sterling from 2017 was beautiful. You all should check it out.

Wowwww... I am so late, but I am here. I'm so sorry for the delay in commenting!
I haven't really gotten on here as much lately. Life stuff. :/ And just, trying not to be so absorbed with the internet lately. I've gotten on social media a tad but I'm trying to take more breaks from it.
But I wanted to take some time to sit down on here and catch up with what I've missed, so here I am. :)
Cute interlude. <3 Their first kiss, aw. A bit scandalous, though, with the age gap, but at least they didn't rush into things. It's sweet how he was so confident in being with her, but then it changed. :( What happened?
I'm hoping following this comment I don't take forever to lead feedback again. Sorry about that, and looking at the comments, I take it you've probably waited since no one else has left feedback yet. :/ But I'll be here as much as I can be.
Oh, and in response to your author's note: Simple Creatures! YAAASSS, am I right? :D
Interested in seeing more. :)
