Breaking the Silence.

Weeks turned into months and finally the aftermath of Alex’s accident was almost gone, he was back to his normal self with just one difference; which was me… I guess. The cat was out of the bag with me and him, because he knew I was talking to him he wouldn’t let go so I kept it to him. Small doses of talking here and there and I could tell that Jack was really jealous about it which had me thinking that maybe I could open up to him too.
“Sam?” My mom’s voice came through my bedroom door.
I opened the door to her smiling face.
“You ready?” She asked
“Always.”
“No bike okay?” She asked
I nodded. We were on a no motorcycle just car kick with her right now, ever since the accident. Tonight was All Time Low’s first show since he got hurt and everyone was excited, the boys were practically vibrating with excitement.
I walked passed my mom and walked downstairs, I was driving and Rian was driving. I was going to have Alex and Jack while Rian just had him and Zack. When I got to the living room Alex and Jack were fucking around waiting on me. I knocked on the wall and they both looked at me, Lex’s face turned into a big smile… That smile it gave me goosebumps. I held my hand out and Jack threw me the keys, I cocked my eyebrow at my big bro and he smiled.
“Let’s go!” I signed.
The three of us walked out to Jack’s car and we all piled in, Alex forcing Jack into the backseat.
“Be careful guys!” My mom yelled from the front door.
I gave her a thumbs up and started the car.
“You’re making me sit in the backseat of my own car?” Jack asked smacking Alex.
“Uh yeah, I want to be up front.” Alex said
“Why?” Jack asked
Alex looked over at me and smiled.
“To control the music.” Alex lied.
I rolled my eyes and the boys laughed.
Traffic was on the heavy side, we sat at a red light for four cycles without actually moving and I was getting frustrated. I white knuckled the steering wheel.
“Sam calm down man.” Jack said
I looked back at him with a vicious glare.
“Don’t use that face, that’s mom’s face when she’s mad.” He said
I rolled my eyes and finally got to move two inches.
“We’re going to be late.” I muttered.
“Excuse me, what was that?” Jack asked popping up in-between the front seats.
I just looked at him.
“She said we’re going to be late.” Alex said
“I know, I heard her. What is this?” He asked
“I see the way you look at me when I’m verbally talking to Alex. You’re jealous.” I said
“I am because I’m your brother.” He said
“Well if it makes you feel better it’s not all of the time, just little things like this.” Alex said
“It doesn’t because you’re the only one getting small doses of it. Literally haven’t spoken to me in over a year.” Jack said
“I spoke to you when Alex was in the hospital.” I said
“It was three whispered words.” He said
“You heard me though right?” I asked
“Well yeah, but since then I’ve gotten nothing and he’s getting it all.” He said
“Well.” I said
“What’s going on with you two?” He asked
“Nothing.” I said
“Are you sure?” He asked
I nodded.
“This is us right? Just us, don’t tell mom.” I said
“What a shitty thing to keep from mom.” Jacks aid
“In my own time I will tell mom okay?” I asked
He nodded.
“I’m just not ready to be back in the whole world like a normal girl.” I said
“You are a normal girl.” Alex laughed.
“Yeah sis, something bad happened. Something so bad but you made it through it. Everyone goes though things differently, you took the silent I’m not really going to talk about it road.” Jack said
“I almost died Jack, I should have died.” I said
“No, it wasn’t your time to die. I got to you in time well not in time. If I had gotten there in time it wouldn’t have happened.” Alex said
“Wait. You found me?” I asked
“Can we discuss it later?” He asked
I nodded and finally! Finally pulled into the venue, Rian and Zack were already there.
We got everything set up and the boys were so ready to be back on stage, I looked over at Annalise as she played on her phone yet again. She didn’t once come to the hospital with Zack, not once which really got me fuming. And then there was Chloe, standing on the other side of Annalise glaring at her. Chloe was Jack’s new girl, she was awesome, and I loved having her around. She looked up and smiled at me, I waved her over and she walked passed Annalise kicking her leg ‘accidently’ on the way.
“You’re terrible.” I signed.
She shrugged, she was still learning my language. I smiled and pulled my phone out.
To: Chloe
You’re terrible.
Her phone dinged and he smiled pulling it out of her pocket.
“You know what. Her boyfriend is on stage playing his heart out and she’s on her phone.” She said
To: Chloe
Always, she’s always on her phone. She also thinks I’m deaf.
She scanned her phone and just started laughing.
“She thinks your deaf? Are you kidding? This is a joke. I’m brand new and I know you’re not deaf.” She laughed
I just shook my head.
“Can we fuck with her?” She asked
I just shrugged and she winked at me. She walked over to Annalise and plopped on the couch next to her.
“Hey.” She said
“Oh, hey Chloe.” Annalise said
“What do you think of Jack’s sister?” She asked
“Oh the deaf girl? I dunno know she’s quiet and I can’t talk to her so I don’t.” Annalise said
“Anna you know she’s not deaf right?” She asked
“That’s what everyone tells me but she talks in that deaf language.” She said
“Anna you know what?” She said
“What?” She asked
“You are literally stupider than I would have ever thought.” She said pushing herself off the couch.
I slapped my hand over my mouth and let out a verbal laugh, oh my god I love this girl. When she got back over to me I was bent over with my hands on my knees absolutely dying.
“She is so dumb Sam why does Zack like her?” She asked
I shrugged and looked over at the girl on the couch who was now staring at us. She got up and walked over here.
“You may think I’m stupid but at least I use words to communicate instead of my hands.” She said
“But Sam uses her hands to talk so imagine what else she can use them for.” Chloe said
I slapped her and started laughing. Anna walked away and Chloe looked at me.
“So I know it’s a tough subject but I have to ask being a curious person. Have you done anything with anyone since the incident?” She asked
I shook my head.
“Is the next guy going to be Alex?” She asked
“Is what going to be Alex?” Jack asked coming over for some water as Alex talked to the crowd.
“Nothing Jack go away.” Chloe said
He pretended to look offended, kissing her cheek and went back on stage.
“Text me.” She said
I nodded.
To: Chloe
I don’t know who the next person is going to be.
From: Chloe
Girl I’ve been watching you two, it’s so cute. He really likes you.
To: Chloe
I like him too but I don’t know, I’m so scared. I don’t know if I’m ready and he’s a rock star who goes on tour.
From: Chloe
You can always go with him, I think I’m going on the next one.
To: Chloe
I’ve thought about that but I don’t want to be a bother.
From: Chloe
Girl that boy has written more than one song about you. You’re not going to bother him, he likes you how you are.
To: Chloe
Can I tell you a secret?
From: Chloe
As you’re newest best friend you have too.
To: Chloe
Every single time I look at him I want to kiss him.
She looked up at me.
“Then go kiss him. Right now.” She said
I just looked at her.
“He’ll love it. Go.” She said
I shook my head and looked out onto the stage where he was singing. One hard shove from Chloe and I was in the center of the stage.
“Whoa.” Jack said walking over to pick me up.
“You okay?” Alex asked
I nodded.
“My little sister everyone.” Jack said
Everyone cheered and I looked around. As I was looking around I spotted a man in the corner waving his hands about to a group of kids, I looked at Alex and he smiled.
“That man over there is translating for us.” He said
I smiled.
“I’m going back.” I signed.
Everyone nodded and I ran backstage and pushed Chloe.
“Not cool.” I growled.
“Whaaa, you do talk?” She asked
“Sometimes.” I muttered.
“Jack failed to mention that.” She said
“Sorry.” I signed.
“Don’t be, it’s your place to be or not to be. Are you talking to Alex?” She asked
I nodded and motioned ‘a little bit’
“A little it is better than not at all.” She said
I nodded and she wrapped her arm over my shoulder and we watched the boys play their hearts out. When the set was done all four of them locked eyes with me, I smiled knowing damn well what was coming. I gave Chloe a small push away and the boy’s bomb rushed me engulfing me into the ‘Samwich’ Alex’s arms wrapped around my waist as he hugged me the tightest, making me feel safe.
“Look at my girls!” Jack shouted pulling me and Chloe to his sides.
She smiled over at me and took my hand.
“I love this girl Jacky.” She said
“Yeah? Me too.” Jack said
“Shut up, she’s your sister. I don’t like a lot of girls.” She said
“Well you like me, and she’s me in girl version.” Jack said
“My best friend.” I signed.
“That’s right I am.” Jack said
I chuckled and he fluffed my hair.
“Okay.” I signed
“So how about we all go to dinner?” Alex asked
I looked around at the boys who were all nodding, I glanced at Chloe and she smiled.
“Let’s go.” I signed.
“Yess!” Rian shouted.
Zack smiled and threw his arm around Annalise, she looked up at him and started whispering to him.
