I Have to Let You Down

EIGHT

Jack

Cass and I have been avoiding each other all week. I usually would try to mend our problems within the first day of it happening, but I didn’t know what was wrong. I don’t know why she was mad at me or if it was my fault or not. I just didn’t want her to explode on me again. But I decided today to try to talk to her since we were both off and Alex and Alexa were at his parents house.

I went to the kitchen to find Cass putting her clothes in the washing machine. She hadn’t noticed I walked in yet so I just sat at the kitchen table waiting on her to finish.

She poured laundry detergent in, closed the lid, and started the machine. Then she turned around and jumped when she noticed me sitting in the kitchen.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.” I told her.

“It’s okay.” She said and began to walk back to her room.

“Cass wait.” I stopped her. “Can we talk?” I asked and she stopped and sighed. She walked over to the table and sat down across from me.

“Look Jack, it’s not your fault that we haven’t spoke in a while. I’ve been avoiding you after last week at the pool.” She told me.

“It kinda is my fault though. I shouldn’t have pried into your relationship with Blake. You-“

“-No you were right.” She cut me off. “He was just using me for sex. He said he just wanted a friend with benefits right now and not a serious relationship. And I’ve been reluctant to be around you because I didn’t want to admit you were right and that I’m kind of jealous..of you.” She admitted and I frowned.

“Jealous? Jealous of what?” If anything I had the most complicated life that no one should ever be jealous of.

“You. Your love life! Jack you have the sweetest guy ever head-over-heels for you. Nano would marry you today if you told him you wanted him to. Also you have the Alex, who is a jerk but still madly in love with you. I can’t find one good guy but here you are with two.” She explained. There was so much going on, I didn’t even know what to respond to first. “Okay..I’m so sorry Blake turned out to be a dick. You seriously deserve better than an idiot like him. And Nano and I have been making progress but were no where near marriage. Also Alex is not in love with me.” I said and she chuckled.

“He is. Anyone with eyes can see that.”

“What exactly makes you think that?”

“Well for starters I’m so sure he asked to stay with us just so he could be close to you. He’s jealous of you dating Nano. And I don’t know if you know about the way he’s looked at you when you’re not looking but it’s so obvious he’s not over you.”

“You’re completely wrong.” I told her. Alex probably got over me within the first month of him being on tour. He had so many people at his disposal. If we didn’t have Alexa, Alex probably would have forgotten all about me.

“You’re in denial. Don’t worry, I’ll try not to say I told you so when he finally admits it.”

“You’re so annoying.” I chuckled.

“I know, but you love me. Probably the only guy that ever will.” She sighed and I stuck my bottom lip out.

“You’re making me sad. If it makes you feel better, if I were straight we’d be married by now.” I told her and she laughed.

It kind of does.” She smiled at me. “So do you have any plans for tonight with one of your Loverboys?” She asked.

“Oh it um funny you asked that. I’m going out with Alex tonight.” I said and she looked at me to make sure I wasn’t joking.

“Like on a date?”

“No no he’s going to Rian’s cousin’s house for a party and asked me to come with.”

“And you're going to go to a party with your ex instead of spending time with your boyfriend?”

“Nano and I aren’t really dating yet and it’s not like that. I’m just going to the party with Alex as a friend. There’s nothing going on between us. But if you see Nano anytime soon I need you to tell him that I had to work today.”

“Wait, why?”

“Because I might have turned down his dinner offer to go to this party with Alex.” I mumbled and she laughed in disbelief.

“You know what? You were right I was definitely wrong, it’s you that still has feelings for Alex.” She chuckled.

“I do not!” I argued.

“Jack what other reason would there be for you to turn down a date with Nano, the guy you’re sort of dating, and go out with you ex?”

“Alex and I were actually good friends before we started dating and I’d like to think that we’re still good friends now.”

“You said you hated him more than you hated your pregnancy pains like two weeks before he got here.” She reminded me.

“We have a complicated friendship.” I said and she gave me a knowing look. “There’s nothing going on between Alex and I. Any feelings I had for him went out the door with him when he left.”

“Okaaaay, but sometimes I see your eyes linger on him for a second too long and it seems kind of suspicious.” She put her hands up I defense.

“I can admit that Alex still looks good. He’s very attractive and he’s been working out so his arms and stomach are a little toned. And his new hair cut and blonde color looks good on him.” I smiled as I thought about how much Alex has changed. He was cute before but now he was like really sexy.

“That’s admitting a lot.”

“Okay yeah but he’s still an asshole.”

“He was an asshole when you guys were together.” She shrugged.

“Yeah, but he still had a compassionate side when we were alone. And I guess I’ve kind of seen it but not as much.”

“Maybe he’s trying to keep his guard up or keep his distance. He knows you’re on the borderline of dating Nano and he probably doesn’t want to interfere..too much.”

“I don’t know, but we’re just friends for now. In a week Alex will be back on tour and I can go on living my normal life as usual.”

Alex

I had stopped at Rian’s house before taking Alexa to my parents. He and Zack wanted to see Alexa and his cousin’s house was on the way to my parents. Plus I hadn’t seen them since last weekend and I was used to seeing them every day because of the tour.

I parked Jack’s car in the driveway and grabbed Alexa out of her car seat before going inside. Those idiots never locked the front door.

“One day an ax murder is going to come in here and kill all of you.” I told them as I walked in.

“I can take on a guy with an ax.” Zack said and I believed him.

“Aww did you bring my girl to see me!” Rian exclaimed and opened his arms for Alexa to come hug him. She went over and let him hug and pick her up.

“Oh you’ve gotten so much bigger. Next time we come back you’re going to be a big girl.”

“I am a big girl.” She told him and I chuckled.

“I’m sorry, you’re right.” He said and sat her down. Zack picked her up next and she giggled as he tossed her into the air.

“Are you still coming tonight?” Rian asked me.

“Yep! I invited Jack too.” I said and he rolled his eyes at me.

“Why? I thought you were supposed to be getting over him. You can’t do that if you’re constantly around him. You’re probably falling for him all over again. I knew I should have forced you to stay with Dallas with me.” He ranted.

“I’m not falling for him again. I just thought it’d be fun to hang out with him this weekend.” I shrugged.

“But you could’ve used this party as a way to pick up guys and girls not just hang out with your ex.”

“I’m not looking for a relationship right now.” I brushed it off.

“I’m not talking about a relationship. I’m talking about sex. You know, that thing you haven’t had in two years.” He scolded me.

“Two and a half.” Zack corrected him and sat Alexa down and I bit my tongue to keep from cussing.

“I don’t want meaningless s-e-x.” I spelled it out and he and Zack looked at me confused. “We can’t say explicit words in front of her. She’ll repeat them.” I said and they nodded.

“Well what do you want? Do you want Jack again? I can buy lubricated c-o-n-d-o-m-s if you need them for tonight.”

“F-u-c-k off. I don’t need them and I’m not planning on doing anything with Jack. I’m fine with how everything is now.”

“Have you forgotten what s-e-x really feels like? You’ve been j-e-r-k-i-n-g off for so long now.” Zack joked and Rian laughed.

“Now I remember why I needed a break from you two. You guys are assholes. I’d rather go hang out with my mom and dad.” I huffed.

“What’s an asshole?” Alexa asked and Zack and Rian both began to die of laugher.

“Oh fuck, I mean shit, ugh I mean how about we go get ice cream and forget about all those bad words I just said.” I bribed and she cheered.

“I’ll see you two jerks later on tonight.”

Jack

Alex and I shared my bathroom as we both got ready to go to Rian’s cousin’s party. Alexa was with Alex’s parents even though Cass said she didn’t mind watching her. I just didn’t want to ruin her weekend by making her babysit. Plus Alexa has seen my mom and dad every single day I was at work so extra time with Alex’s parents was always great. We were running a little late mostly due to me changing outfits. Alex said my first outfit made me look like a dad, so I went and changed. The party started at seven and it was now going on seven thirty. I should have been going out with Nano now, but instead I lied and I was going out with Alex. I was just starting to feel really bad about it. I felt guilty enough to tell him the truth about it tomorrow, just so it wouldn’t haunt me for forever.

“Alright are you ready?” Alex asked, breaking my train of thought.

“Hold on, I can’t get this area to go how I want it.” I complained as I messed with my hair.

“It’s fine, you’re just gonna run your fingers through it and fuck it up five minutes from now.” He said and I glared at him through the mirror. I was going to warn him about rushing me but I just went back to finishing my hair. I might of taken extra time out of spite. Alex rolled his eyes and went to sit in my bed and watch TV.

“How do I look?” I asked, once I finished minutes later. I walked out of my bathroom and Alex looked me over raising an eyebrow and making me blush.

“Like the guys in the pornos I watch.” He, I guess, complemented and I scoffed.

“Can you be nice for once in your life?” I playfully scolded him.

“That was nice!” He stressed and I rolled my eyes at him. “Okay, alright, you look gorgeous.” He said. It honestly caught me off guard.

“You really think so?”

“Yeah, I do.” His eyes lingered on me for a few more seconds before he was looking down at his phone. “Can I get our Uber now or do you want me to wait twenty more minutes?” He asked sarcastically.

“Go ahead, Jerk.” I chuckled and went into the kitchen. I ran into Cass pouring herself a glass of wine.

“Oooo you look nice!” She told me. Thanks, my hair only took twenty minutes.” I joked and she chuckled.

“Where’s the Beast?”

“He’s ordering our Uber.”

“I’m right here.” Alex said as he walked into the kitchen. “Our driver will be here in five minutes.”

“He was close.” I commented.

“Yeah but it’s Saturday night so there are a bunch out.” He shrugged. “What’re you looking at?” He asked Cass and she scoffed.

“I was going to say you look really nice tonight, but you just killed it.” She rolled her eyes and he chuckled.

“Thanks anyways.” He picked up her wine glass and downed the whole glass she had just poured for herself.

“Alex! You inconsiderate jerk.” I laughed and hit his shoulder while Cass bit her cheek to keep from laughing.

“That was actually pretty good. Pour me another one of those.” He told her.

“You are the biggest asshole. I don’t know what Jack ever saw in you.” She told him as she poured it.

“I have a really big dick.” He told her and took the glass she just poured.

“Can you stop talking?” I grabbed the wine glass from him and took a sip and handed it back. I wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction of confirming that or not. He downed the rest of the wine like it was water. I guess it’s because all they did on tour was drink.

“Jack, you should have just went to dinner with Nano.” Cass told me and I sighed.

“What does that mean?” Alex asked with a smile on his face. “Did you turn down a date with marshmallow just to come to this party with me?”

“I’m sorry, I thought he knew.” Cass said, ignoring Alex.

“It’s fine. And yes I did, but don’t let that go to your head. I-“

“-You turned down a date with him to go out with me?” He repeated again, but it didn’t sound like he was throwing it in my face. He sounded confused. Cass and I made eye contact so I knew she knew something was up too.

“I just didn’t feel like going a dinner date this weekend. I wanted to go out drinking.” I told him and he nodded.

He looked down at his phone and finally said, “Our driver is outside.”

We told Cass bye and went outside to meet our driver. He greeted us and Alex gave him the address to Rian’s cousin’s house. Alex didn’t say much to me on the ride there. I tried to start conversations with him but he gave me short answers. I don’t know why his attitude changed. If anything he should have been happy I turned down my date to go out with him. Especially if Cass’s prediction was right and he actually did have a crush on me. The driver pulled over in front of the house to let us out. We both thanked him and got out of the car. I quietly followed behind Alex to the front door. I wanted desperately to stop him and make him talk to me before going in, but I didn’t. I was kind of afraid of what he would say to me. Plus I came out to have a good time, not be preoccupied with drama.

Alex opened the door and we walked into the loud music and the smell of smoke. I followed close behind him to the kitchen, where majority of the people were. I turned to grab a cup and fill it with punch and when I turned back around Alex was gone. I knew no one here other than Zack, Rian, and barely Rian’s cousin and Dallas. That jerk really left me alone.

The whole night was a bust. I spent most of the party drinking alone and having small talk with strangers. Every time I found Alex he would make an excuse to leave, go to the crowded balcony to smoke, or go to the bathroom. I was beyond annoyed with him when I finally found him in the kitchen, leaning against the counter with a red solo cup in his hand. I hated that I had been drinking and he looked so good because I wanted to be completely angry with him. I walked up to him ready to bitch about his behavior tonight.

“Okay what’s up with you avoiding me all night?” I asked over the music, annoyed.

“I haven’t been avoiding you.” He rolled his eyes and I huffed.

“Yes you have! You have ever since we left my place. You barely said a word to me in the car. You left me as soon as we made it to the party. You found every excuse to leave me alone when I came around you. So why’re you avoiding me?”

“You’re drunk.” He chuckled, which made me angrier. I had a few drinks but I was still in my right mind to know what I was telling him was true. He, on the other hand, was actually drunk.

“No you’re drunk.” I argued and he just laughed. “You know what? Just forget it.” I turned around to walk away. Coming here was a mistake. I should have went out with Nano or at least just stayed home. I was going to call myself an Uber to take me home. I pulled out my phone but Albert, Rian’s cousin, his girlfriend, unintentionally stopped me.

“Hey Jack, did you want some cake?” She asked holding a slice out to me. Eating sounded like a great way to fix my depressive mood. Staying a few minutes longer wouldn’t hurt.

“Yes, please.” I said and thanked her. I took a seat at the kitchen table by myself and tasted the frosting to see if it was good. It was freaking delicious so I stuck my fork all the way in and took a bite. I took out my phone to find the closest Uber to me. As I looked down at my phone I saw someone sit in the seat next me. I didn’t feel like having a conversation with anymore strangers.

“You look so sexy eating that cake.” I heard Alex say and my eyes quickly darted over to him. I should have known it was going to be him of all people.

“Jeez thanks.” I sighed.

“Look, this is going to be diff..difficult to explain while a little drunk but you do look sexy majority of the time you do anything. It’s one of the many reasons I wanted to stay with you this time on break. I know it was a stupid idea especially after I told myself I wasn’t allowed to be with you again, but I just can’t help myself.” He explained.

“What do you mean? Why would you tell yourself that?” I asked.

“Because you were right. You and Alexa need someone who’s consistently there for you... like marshmallow. And I can tell that you’re starting to fall for me again.” He said and it was starting to make sense.

“You were upset that I canceled my date with Nano to go out with you because you think it means I’m falling for you again?” I asked and he nodded.

“I don’t think, I know!” He exclaimed and I chuckled.

“You’re wrong.” I shook my head.

“I’m right. I know I’m right.” He was so arrogant.

“Okay lets say that I am starting to fall for you again. Is that necessary a bad thing?” I was just entertaining him for now.

“Yeah because you hate me leaving and I’m too selfish to give up my fucking career for you two.” He sounded angry at himself.

“But we’re actually doing fine and these last few days with you have felt like an eternity. Also you’ll be back in another month and a half so it’s not like we’re not getting to spend a lot of time with you.” I shrugged.

“Wait a second, this is the same thing I told you before we broke up! I told you it wouldn’t be bad, that I would be back ever month or so. I told you you could trust me!” He scolded me and I nodded. He did tell me all of that and I didn’t see the big picture at the time.

“I’m just speaking hypothetically.” I told him. I might not have been super drunk but I was still pretty out of it and I didn’t trust my judgement right now. I could feel one way now and completely different once I sobered up in the morning.

Alex rolled his eyes and reached into his pocket. He switched to his other pocket and groaned, “Fuck.”

“What?” I asked.

“I’m outta cigarettes. It just had to be when you’re stressing me the fuck out.”

“I haven’t done anything to you! I sat here trying to enjoy my cake and you walked over here to mess with me so your stress is your fault.” I complained as he picked up my fork and ate my last piece of cake.

“Yeah yeah get off your fucking high horse and come walk with me to the gas station down the street.” He demanded. I scoffed wanting to tell him to ‘fuck off’ and get my Uber, but I didn’t. I always got weak when Alex demanded I do something. I just hoped he didn’t know I still did.

“Okay.” I answered him. Alex grabbed my trash and threw it away for me then I got up and followed him to the front door. He stopped to tell Zack where we were going then we went out the door. The gas station we were walking to was two minutes away by car so most likely fifteen minutes by walking. I didn’t mind since I wasn’t in a rush to get home anymore. I followed Alex to the sidewalk and we walked side-by-side.

“Are you going to tell the marshmallow that you came out to a party with me?” Alex asked me.

“Umm I was planning on it. Why?”

“I just don’t think you should build your relationship on lies. You should be honest with him.” He advised and I frowned.

“Why are you giving me relationships advice?”

“Because you said we’re sort of friends, that’s the kind of shit friends do, right?”

“Yeah I guess but it doesn’t make it less weird.” I sighed. “What about you?”

“What about me?”

“Don’t you have a guy or girl I can give you advice with?” I asked, just to be nosy. I wanted to see if Alex was seeing anyone. He never said he was, but he could have been trying to spare my feeling like I was with him and Nano.

“Yeah there’s this guy I met in New York actually.” He looked over at me and my heart began racing.

“Really?” I asked feeling like I was in a state of panic.

“No Jack. I’m not with anyone.” He chuckled and I took a deep breath.

“You’re a horrible person.”

“Why? Did I have you worried?”

“No!” I answered quickly and he gave me a knowing look.

“Okay maybe, but you know everyone always gets a funny feeling when their ex starts dating someone new. I remember being a little jealous when Tony began dating that girl after we broke up, and I was with you by that time.” I admitted.

“Well you have no reason to worry. Like I said, I’m not with anyone.” He shrugged.

“Um well don’t feel like you can’t date other people or tell me about them. I can handle it.” I told him and he laughed.

“You almost had a heart attack when I joking said I was seeing someone.” He said and I rolled my eyes.

“Well still, you can tell me.”

“I’ll keep that in mind.” He nodded. We walked the rest of the way to the store in peaceful silence. There weren’t any other people at the gas station because it was three in the morning. I don’t know why gas stations were open twenty-four hours. When we made it to the door, Alex opened it and let me in first. I thanked him and went to the chip aisle. I grabbed a bag of Cheeto Puffs and went to the register where Alex was.

“Let me get a pack of Marlboro Reds.” He told the cashier. I placed my chips on the counter for him to pay for and he chuckled. “Those are Alexa’s favorite too.”

“I know, that’s why I’m addicted to them too.” I playfully rolled my eyes. Alex payed for our items and we left to walk back to Albert’s house. We really didn’t have to walk back; we could have Uber-ed home from the store if we wanted.

“Do you think everyone is still there at the party?” I asked Alex as he contently lit his cigarette and inhaled. I opened my chips because I began to feel my stomach growl.

“I would be shocked if anyone left.” He said as he blew out the smoke. “They were having way too much fun.”

“Yeah, everyone was enjoying themselves.” I agreed, with my mouth full.

“We can skip out on the rest and go back to your place. Or go get something to eat; those chips are not going to fill you up.” He said, making me laugh.

“Yeah I’m starving. What sounds good?” I asked.

“Everything.”

“IHOP?”
“Yeah that’s cool.” He stopped walking and pulled out his phone. He ordered an Uber to take us to the nearest IHOP then he finished off his cigarette.

“I didn’t know they would pick you up on the side of the road.” I said.

“Yeah as long as you send your location they can get you from anywhere.”

“That’s weird.”

“You should be used to getting picked up on street corners.” He joked and I playfully hit him.

“Would it kill you to be nice to me for once?”

“I’m always nice.” He chuckled.

“No you’re an asshole. Be nice.”

“Okay fine, I’ll be nice to you for the rest of the night.”

“We’ll see how long that last.” I pouted.

Minutes later our Uber driver picked us up. Alex held the door open for me and I got in and greeted our driver.

The drive to IHOP and being seated at our table was a blur. I was so tired that everything was being mashed together. Alex texted on his phone while I stared at the cars passing by outside.

“You okay?” Alex glanced up from his phone and asked.

“Mhmm, just tired.” I mumbled.

The waitress came by to get our drink orders and quickly left.

“Order whatever you want.” Alex said, making me blush. It was sweet that he still felt the need to pay for my food, or anything really for me when we went out.

“Okay, thanks.” I told him and he nodded. “I think I want an omelette.”

“I was thinking about that too.” He said while looking down at his menu.

Being in here reminded me of a time we came here after our junior homecoming football game.

“Do you remember junior year after the homecoming football game when we came here with our friends?” I asked Alex.

“Maybe. Was that the same night we left the game early to fuck in my car?” He causally asked and I scoffed.

“Maybe.” I said, turning deep red. That’s not why I was bringing that night up. “Is that all you remember from that night??”

“Ummm I remember I told you I bought us Green Day concert tickets which is why we left to fuck in my car. And we got in trouble with your dad because I bought you home like six minutes late and he cussed me out in Arabic.” He reminisced and I laughed. My dad did not like Alex in the slightest bit.

“Yes, all those things happened that night.” I looked down slightly disappointed he didn’t remember what made that night so special.

“You were wearing my Nike sweatshirt that you refused to give me back, and you were so self-conscious because you dyed that strip of blonde in your hair for the first time and you thought everyone was silently judging you. A-And before I walked you to your front door and got chewed out by your father, I told you I loved you for the first time.” He told me and I smiled. He remembered everything about that night!

“Yeah, you remember.”

“Of course I do. But why’d you bring it up?” He asked.

“Because that was the last time we went to IHOP together and we both ordered an omelette and I don’t know, the memories just popped into my head.” I chuckled.

The waitress stopped by again to take our food order and Alex told her both of our orders. We waited for her to walk away before continuing our conversation.

“You’re so confusing.” He told me.

“How am I confusing?” I asked.

“First you tell me I can’t bring up our past relationship, but here you are reminiscing about it.”

“I said that because you were only bringing up stuff about sex. It seems like everything about us had to deal with sex to you.” I rolled my eyes.

“It didn’t and I only do that cause I know how much it bothers you. I have plenty great memories of us that don’t involve sex.”

“Oh like what?” I asked.

“Ummm like when you were a few months pregnant and you told me we were having a girl.” He said and I chuckled.

“Alex, you were pissed that she wasn’t a boy.” I reminded him.

“I know that, but you let me pick her name to make me feel better.”

“Yeah and I thought you were kidding when you said ‘Alexandria.’”

“You don’t like her name?”

“No no of course I do, I just thought you were joking at first until you told your mom.” I said and he laughed.

“Well if it was a boy I wanted him to be named after me so I felt like it had to be done.”

“If you say so.” I shrugged.

I looked down at my phone as the Apple symbol showed up and it died. I sighed and looked out of the window; I didn’t know it was this late. My phone showed four am before it cut off. I yawned now feeling myself become sleepy.

“We can get it to go if you’re gonna fall asleep.” Alex joked.

“No it’s okay. I’ve made it this long, an hour won’t hurt.”

Fifteen minutes later when we received our food my eyes were barely open. I couldn’t stop yawning and my eyes were watering, begging me to close them. Alex shook his head as he watched me struggle to chew my food while laying my head on my hand.

“Don’t judge me.” I mumbled and he chuckled.

“I’m trying my best not to. You look like a zombie though.”

“I need sleep.”

“I asked if you wanted to take it Togo but you wanted to be stubborn.”

“Bite me.” I said with my mouth stuff.

“Hi, is everything okay? Do you two need anything else” The waitress asked when she stripped by.

“Yeah can we get two Togo boxes and the check, please.” He asked and she nodded and left to go get it.

“I coulda finished here.” I pouted.

“Jack, it’s taken you ten minutes to eat two bites. You’ll probably be sleep before I can finish paying.” He scolded me and I lightly chuckled. He ordered a Uber for us and so it would be outside by the time we finished.

The waitress gave us Togo boxes and the check and we thanked her. I watched as Alex packed up the rest of my food before doing his own. He had a little less than half of his food left while I had almost the complete omelette. I was too sleepy to eat.

Alex placed a tip on the table then we went to the cashier to pay. Once we finished our Uber driver was outside waiting on us. Alex helped me to the car and then gave the lady directions to my apartment. I let my eyes close until she was stopping in my parking garage. I got out with Alex and followed him to my apartment.

“Alright now you can go pass out in your bed.” Alex told me as he placed the leftovers in the fridge.

“Are you going to bed too?” I asked him.

“I’m gonna go outside first.”

“I’ll come with.” I yawned and he frowned.

“You’re going to fall asleep out there. Go to bed.”

“Nooooo I don’t wanna.” I whined.

“Fine but if you fall asleep outside I’m not helping you back in.” He warned and I nodded.

I followed Alex outside and sat down in the patio chair next to the one he sat in.

“I missed Alexa today.” I said and he nodded.

“Me too.” He smiled as he lit his cigarette. “I’m gonna go get her first thing in the morning so we can spend all day with her.” He said and I smiled at the thought.

I fell asleep not paying attention to what Alex was saying next. What felt like five minutes later, I felt myself being placed in my bed. I opened my eyes to find Alex taking off my pants for me. The he pulled my blanket back and helped me under it.

“Lay with me.” I said quietly, and patted the spot next to me. I was used to sleeping with one extra body next to me. He could take Alexa’s spot for tonight.

“Okay.” He whispered. Alex took off his pants and laid next to me in his shirt and boxers. I couldn’t stop myself from rolling over to cuddle into his warm chest.

“Night Lex.” I mumbled.

“Good night.”

Notes

Jack and Alex are both a mess.
