Catch Me

A Rush of Emotions

Zack’s coming home today, but I’m not able to pick him up since I’m stuck at work which irked me to the nth degree. He’s due to arrive at the airport around noon, so I’m not able to go pick him up. Toward the end of my break, I had a text from him.

Bummed out that you couldn’t pick me up.

Me too. :( I’ll see you after work. Just five hours to go.

It was a relief to know that he was feeling the same way I was, but I hated that we were both feeling that same emotion. The day ended up going faster after that, so as soon as was able to leave, I was out of there. I got home in record time and eagerly unlocked my apartment door. Something felt off as I walked inside, so I carefully looked around for anything suspicious but found nothing. However, when I entered my bedroom, I saw a muscular, sleeping figure in the middle of my bed. I smiled as I saw that it was Zack lying flat on his back.

“Zack.” I said.

Nothing.

I repeated his name. Again. Nothing. I crept onto the bed and lightly touched him, hoping I wouldn’t startle him. He slowly opened his eyes and smiled, pulling me toward him.

“I missed you.” he said.

“I missed you, too.”

I kissed him like there was no tomorrow and he fully pulled me on top of him, making the kiss deeper and wrapped his arms tightly around me.

“How long have you been here?”

“Just for the past couple of hours.”

“Must’ve been pretty boring. Who let you in?”

“Myra let me borrow her key.”

“Was this spur of the moment?”

“Yes. I figured I’d make a nice surprise for when you got home.”

“You made an amazing surprise. The perfect surprise.”

He smiled again.

“How was your day?”

“Was slow until you texted me.”

“That’s good. How about yours?”

“Boring, but these past couple hours were lovely. The only thing is that this bed was missing you.”

I kissed him again and he quickly added tongue.

“Why did you have to wear a buttoned shirt?” he said with a hand on the small of my back.

I sat up in his lap and began unbuttoning my blouse, quickly removing it.

“Happy?”

“Very.”

I disposed of my bra and could’ve sworn I felt him pitch a tent.

“Could you help me out here by getting naked please?” I asked.

I got off his lap, so he could undress and I could finish undressing. When were both completely naked, the erection I thought I felt was there.

“Would you like to go take a shower with me?” he asked.

“As long as you bring a condom for your friend.” I said pressing a hand into his chest.

He smirked and went into my nightstand drawer.

“I’ll go start the shower."

I dashed off to the attached bathroom and turned on the water, adjusting the temperature. When I stood up, I felt his cock against my thigh. I turned to face him, only to be lifted as I then wrapped my legs around his waist while he got into the shower. He backed me against the wall and nothing even needed to be said between the two of us. He just shoved himself inside of me; I cried out in pleasure almost immediately.

"Fuck, Riley."

"Oh my - fuck, Zack."

I dug my nails into his back and moaned into his neck. I had shower sex only once or twice prior to today and it's been years; I couldn't recall it feeling this amazing. He groaned and continued to thrust in and out of me even faster. When I came, I was panting but still kept my arms around his neck. He came a couple seconds later and pulled out soon after as I dropped my legs. I was perfectly fine with the silence until I finally caught my breath. He gently lifted my head and kissed me as I stood on my toes; it was such a sweet and loving kiss.

"Were you really gone for only a month? Because that was just filled with much more passion than usual."

"It did feel that way. Didn't it?"

"Yeah. I wanna let you know I've only had shower sex once or twice in my life and it's been years."

"That's crazy."

"We need to do that more often. I loved it."

"So did I and I agree."

"Let's actually shower now."

After a quick shower, we got dressed and went out into my kitchen since we need to eat.

"Do you wanna order something or-"

"Here's a question: Do you really wanna cook?"

"How does pizza sound?"

"Sounds good."

Once I ordered dinner, I snuggled up to Zack on the couch.

“What do you wanna watch?” he asked.

“You choose. I’m just happy you’re back.”

“You sure?”

“Absolutely.”

He kept an arm around my waist while I continued to rest my head on his shoulder. There was no place that I’d rather be.

Zack

I have my girl back and it feels so fucking good. Having her all snuggled up to me is one of the greatest things in the world. It’s something I definitely wouldn’t trade for anything.

“You smell good.” she said out of the blue.

“Thank you.” I said laughing.

“Anytime. So do you.”

I simply kissed the top of her head. She had the same scent that she had that first night I met her; the scent was strawberries and cream and infiltrated my nostrils just the same as it did when we first had sex.

“I remember your hair smelling of strawberries and cream that night we met.”

“You remember that?”

“It was intoxicating and still is.”

“I really can’t believe that stuck with you.”

“Everything about you stuck after that night. Your smile, your eyes, your scent...”

She turned to me and kissed me.

“You are too wonderful, Zack Merrick.”

She crawled onto my lap.

“You sure you’re not the one who’s too wonderful, Riley Paulson?”

"Pretty sure."

"Just pretty sure?"

"Shut up." she said, trying not to crack a smile.

I went in to kiss her when there was a knock on the door.

"Damnit." she said, getting off my lap to grab her wallet.

"No. Let me pay."

"Zack..."

I gave her a look.

"Fine."

She sat back down as I grabbed my wallet to pay for the pizza. After I paid the delivery guy and brought in the food, I found her stretched out on the couch and staring at the ceiling.

"Riley?"

"Yeah?"

"Are you okay?"

"Just tired."

"You sure, babe?"

"Yeah."

"How about we eat then lie down?"

"Sounds good."

I had a feeling she was more than just tired, but I figured I'd let it go for now. She sat up and groaned, slowly getting off the couch. I eyed her up as I continued to worry about her.

"What can I get you to drink? You took care of food." she asked.

"Just water please."

She nodded and went to get us something to drink. She quickly ate two slices before treading toward her bedroom without saying a damn thing, so I went into instant panic mode and followed her. She climbed onto the bed, getting under the covers as she laid on her stomach.

Something's wrong.

"I know you're not okay. There's no use in lying to me. Please tell me."

No response.

"Riley. Please talk to me."

I crawled under the covers and pulled her into me where she soon began to sob into my shirt. I knew the reasoning behind all the other times I've seen and/or heard her cry, but I couldn't for the life of me pinpoint where these tears were all coming from. I wrapped my arms around her and just let her cry until she was able to tell me why she was crying.

"Zack?” I heard her squeak out.

Ten minutes had passed when she spoke again and I was relieved. I hoped I could get some answers.

“Yeah?”

“You’re gonna think I’m crazy.”

She looked up at me with red, bloodshot eyes.

“I highly doubt that, Rye.”

“When you got up to pay the pizza guy, I laid down and closed my eyes for a second since I was tired. What I wasn’t expecting was to have a flashback to the night I almost died. I saw his face, the face of the man who I thought loved and cared about me appeared, but changed one day into a monster that I quickly became afraid of. The man who couldn’t handle me trying to break up with him that was intoxicated and who had been snorting coke when I arrived that night tried to kill me and almost succeeded. I have no idea why that happened and it terrifies me. The man is gonna die in prison and he appeared in my mind after five years, but here he is, haunting me.”

“You are not crazy. There’s a reason for everything.” I said running a hand through her hair.

“It feels so good to hear that.” she sighed, burying her face further into my chest.

There were a couple more minutes of silence, so I was convinced she fell asleep.

“I think I know why that happened.”

“Why?”

“I’m at the happiest place in my life and that obviously, was the worst place in my life.”

“What matters is that you’re at the happiest place in your life. Fuck your ex.”

“Exactly. Now, what’ll make it perfect is if I don’t see his face again. I’d much rather see this handsome face.” she said, moving further onto me.

Instead of her climbing onto me, I pushed her down, towering over her and kissed her, not wanting this moment to end.
