Chapter 7

***I uploaded the wrong chapter (six) last week but now it's fixed, please go read it so the rest of the story will make since!***

Alex

"Alex are you ready?" I heard Nana call from downstairs. She woke me up this morning telling me to get ready so we could go look at cars. I thought they would make me wait to get a car since I was grounded, but they didn't.

"Coming." I said. I walked down to the living room where they were waiting.

"Do you want to eat something before we go?" Nana asked, and I shook my head stubbornly. I was still upset they wouldn't let me see Jack even though it was my own fault. I followed her and Grandpa to his car and he drove us to a street that had car dealerships placed along it.

"Alex, do you have an idea of what kind of car you want?" Grandpa asked.

"Um maybe a Camaro?" I said unsure. It was the only thing that popped into my head since that's what Jack said he could see me driving.

Grandpa turned into the Chevrolet dealership and we got out. A car salesman quickly came up to us to help. Grandpa told him what we were looking for and the salesman lead the way. We stopped in front of the Camaro section, they had one in every color.

"Is this your first car, son?" The salesman asked me.

"Yeah." I answered.

"You're pretty lucky, most teens wouldn't get a brand-new car off the lot for their first car." He chuckled. Hearing him say that kind of made me feel like shit. My grandparents were buying me a car and I was giving them an attitude for being grounded because I missed my curfew.

"Yeah I am." I mumbled.

"Which color do you like best?" Nana asked me.

"I think the black one. It won't show dirt as quick as the other colors." I said, and she nodded.

"Well get in there and see how it feels." Grandpa told me.

The salesman opened the door of the black one for me and I got in. I liked the black seats on the inside, plus it came with a navigation system, Bluetooth, and a backwards camera for when I reversed. I could sit in it comfortably without having to adjust the seat back far. Jack was right, I did like this car. We all got in, so I could take the car for a test drive. I drove around the street that surrounded the dealership and then parked it back where we started off. It was smoother than any car I’ve ever driven.

"I like it." I told Grandpa and he smiled.

"We'll take it." He told the salesman.

"Sweet! Let's go inside and take care of the paper work." The salesman said. We followed him into his office and he left to get the papers.

I regretted skipping out on breakfast, my stomach was starting to growl. That's what I get for being stubborn. When my stomach growled a second time Nana went into her purse and pulled out a PopTart. She sat it in my lap and I sighed in relief.

"Thank you." I told her, and she chuckled.

"You're welcome."

The salesman came back in and he and Grandpa negotiated the price. They ended up agreeing on twenty-five thousand dollars. That seemed like a lot to me, but it was nothing to my grandparents who each wrote a check of five-thousand dollars for the down payment.

My grandparents signed the title for the car and the salesman gave them the keys.

"We get to take it today?" I asked. I wasn't expecting to go home with a new car today.

"Yep, you'll be able to drive yourself to school on Monday." Grandpa told me.

We shook hands with the salesman and told him thank you. And he thanked us for being the quickest sale he’s ever made. Then we walked to the parking lot and Grandpa handed me one of the car keys.

"Thank you so much!" I exclaimed and hugged him and Nana. "I'm sorry for missing my curfew and being a jerk this morning." I told them.

"It's okay, we were both teenagers once too. Just try to be more responsible okay?" Grandpa said.

"Okay." I said.

"Do you want to drive it home?" Nana asked, and I nodded. She got in my new car with me and I followed Grandpa back home. This car was perfect, and it had the new car smell. I wished I could have texted Jack that he was right about me liking this car. I would just have to tell him at school on Monday.

"So what was the real reason you missed your curfew last night?" Nana asked as I drove. She just wasn't going to let this go. I thought about telling the truth, but I didn't know how she would take it. "I won't tell your Grandpa, I just want to make sure you're um not doing anything we should be worried about." She said.

"I was with Jack and his friends and we lost track of time." I said, repeating the same thing I told them last night.

"You didn't notice you were two hours late?" She asked skeptically, and I sighed.

"Well what do you think happened instead?" I asked. I thought it would be best to hear what she thought and then go from there.

"I don't know, that's why I'm asking you."

"Okay. . . we kind of purposely stayed at the party until two am. But it's not Jack's fault, I didn't want to leave because we were having so much fun." I said, and she nodded.

"Okay thank you for being honest with me. I just want to make sure you're being safe. I know we said you're not allowed to see Jack anymore, but I also know how sneaky you teenagers are. So, I know you're going to talk to him at school or some other time anyways. Just be careful, Alex." She said. I was so relieved she wasn't angry when I told her the truth. Hopefully she really wouldn't tell grandpa.

"Okay, Nana." I said. She exhaled and rubbed my arm worriedly.

When we made it home I parked in our driveway and we went inside. Grandpa had beat us home since he was driving in front of us.

"Tom, I talked to Alex and I think he learned his lesson. He promised to follow his curfew from now on, so I told him one day of punishment was enough." Nana told Grandpa when we got inside.

"We won't have another repeat of last night again will we?" He asked me to make sure.

"No sir." I promised. I really was going to try my best not to break my curfew any more. It was the least I could do since they took care of me.

"Okay." He went into their room and came back out with my phone. "Make sure you delete that boys’ number." He said and I nodded.

"Okay. Thank you." I said and took my phone.

"I'll come get you when lunch is ready." Nana told me and I thanked her. I went up to my room and slightly closed my door and turned on my TV for background noise. Then I turned my phone back on and called Jack.

"Hello?" He said in a groggy voice.

"Hey, why are you still sleeping in the afternoon?" I jokingly asked. If my grandparents didn't wake me this morning I probably would have still been sleeping too.

"I'm obviously still dreaming ‘cause you shouldn't be talking to me. I thought your grandparents said we couldn't talk anymore."

"They did, but I don't want to stop talking to you." I chuckled.

"Wow you're such a bad boy." He said sarcastically, and I laughed. I laid down on my bed as we continued to talk.

"I miss you already." I sighed.

"Yeah, I hate that we're gonna have to sneak around to see each other from now on." He complained.

"That's your fault. I told you it was midnight and time for me to go home." I scolded him.

"Oh excuse me for wanting to enjoy your company for a little bit longer. Besides you weren't complaining about time after your second drink." He teased and I laughed.

"Why am I even talking to you?" I jokingly sighed, and he laughed.

"Because you miss me." He said. "And because I miss you too."

"Really?"

"Mhmm. I wish you were here so I can spoon with you."

"You can spoon with your pillow and pretend it's me." I suggested.

"No it's not the same. My pillows aren't as cute as you are." He said, making me smile to myself. "Did you go look at cars today or did your grandparents change their minds."

"We went, and I got a Camaro. It's black!" I told him.

"That sounds bad ass, you have to let me test drive it."

"No way, I only trust myself and my grandparents to drive it. I'll give you a ride though." I said.

"Fine I guess I'll take that."

"Good. Are you doing anything today?"

"Umm I guess I'll go hang out with Zack and Rian since we can't go on our date anymore."

"Oh yeah we were supposed to go somewhere today. I'm sorry, Jack." I said.

"It's okay, it's not your fault. We'll just have to figure out another way we can go out on a date some other time." He said, and I pouted. I really did want to go with him tonight.

"Maybe my grandparents will let us hang out if I don't get into any more trouble for a while."

"I doubt it, but maybe I can come see you tonight anyways."

"How?" I asked.

"Leave your window open for me tonight." He said and I scoffed.

"Jack, I'm on the second floor, there's no way you're going to get up here."

"Well it's not like I can just walk through the front door. . . Well maybe I can. What time do your grandparents go to bed?"

"It doesn't matter because I'm not sneaking you into this house. If they catch us my grandpa might literally kill you."

"We won't get caught if we're quiet. Plus, your room is upstairs so they won't even here us." He said. I really didn't want to get into any more trouble, but I also didn't want to give up a chance to see Jack. Besides Nana did say she knew I would sneak and hang out with him anyways.

"Okay fine, but we have to be really careful." I sighed.

"We will be. Just text me when they're both asleep and I'll come over."

"Okay. Bye." I said and we hung up.

I laid in bed thinking of the worse and best-case scenarios. Like Jack said, I am upstairs, and I would most likely hear my grandparents coming up the stairs. So I would have plenty of time to hide Jack. I honestly didn't know what they would do if they caught us. I know I would get grounded again for longer, but I felt like they would make me change schools or something.

This better be worth it.

*****

My grandparents were asleep by midnight, so I called Jack. I was kind of sure we could get away with this since my grandparents slept with their door closed. That would help make it harder for them to hear anything.

"Hey are they asleep?" He asked when he answered.

"Yeah, I just checked and they're both snoring." I said.

"Okay I'll be there in fifteen."

"Make sure you don't ring the doorbell." I told him and he chuckled.

"Do you think I'm stupid?"

"No, but I didn't want you to accidentally do it or anything. I'm just nervous okay? I've never snuck another person into the house." I said.

"It's cool, just don't over think it. We'll be fine." He told me, and I took a deep breath.

"Okay." I said.

"Alright I'll see you in a few minutes." He said and hung up.

I went into my grandparents’ room one last time to make sure they were still sleeping. Loud snoring filled the room from both of them so I slowly back out. The fact that I could open and close the door without waking them had to be a good sign, right?

I stayed downstairs by the front door waiting to see Jack pull up. He arrived ten minutes later and I slowly opened the door for him and quietly closed it back. Then I grabbed his hand and took him up to my room.

"Hi." I finally said. I was afraid for us to talk downstairs. I could tell he was still kind of high. He wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed me.

"I told you we had nothing to worry about." He said and I nodded. I guess the hardest part was getting him in the house. We pulled apart and sat on my bed together. He wrapped his arm around me and pulled me to lay back on my bed with him. I giggled and cuddled into his side.

"What did you, Rian, and Zack do today?" I asked.

"The usual. Hung out in my room getting high and talking shit to each other. We were going to go to a party, but the cops shut it down before we had the chance to go."

"That was probably a sign that you guys didn't need to go."

"Yeah we were faded anyways so I guess it was a good thing we weren't there when the cops showed."

"Faded?" I heard that word in songs, but I never knew what if actually meant.

"It's like when you're high as fuck." He explained.

"Oh that’s every day for you though." I joked and he rolled his eyes at me.

"I'm hungry." He said. "Go get me something to eat."

"Okay now you're just begging for us to get caught."

"I won't go with you, I'll just wait up here."

"Well at least wait in the closet just in case they come up while I'm gone." I told him and he nodded. I waited for him to get in the closet before leaving.

I quietly went down to grab food. I went to the pantry to see what snacks I had. The only items I saw were Hot Cheetos and chocolate chip cookies, so I grabbed both of them and went back upstairs.

I threw the snacks on my bed and went to my closet. I opened the door and Jack wasn't there. I should have known he wouldn't listen to me. I heard my toilet flush and Jack walked out of my bathroom. I glared at him for scaring me.

"What? Did you want me to pee in your closet?" He asked, and I rolled my eyes.

"Just eat your snacks."

"Thank you!" He said and started stuffing cookies into his mouth.

"You're a pig." I laughed and turned on my TV to add some background noise.

"Give me the remote." He demanded, ignoring my insult. He took the remote from me and turned to the SyFy channel. I saw that killer doll Chuckie come on the screen and I covered my eyes.

"Jack no! I don't want to watch this!" I whined.

"What? Why not? Bride of Chuckie is a good movie."

"It's too late to watch a scary movie. I'm going to be too scared to fall asleep."

"Alex, do you really think that doll is going to jump out of the screen and get you?" He asked, and I looked up at him with my lip sticking out. He sighed and picked up the remote to see what else was on.

"Thank you." I told him once he stopped on SpongeBob.

"Mhmm." He hummed.

I turned my attention to the TV but then I started to feel Jack's lips on my neck. "Stoooop. That tickles." I giggled.

"Everything tickles you." He said and flipped me over on my back. He climbed on top of me as he continued to place kisses on my neck. I let him kiss all over me until he began to grind down on top of me.

"Jack wait." I said and he pulled away.

"Sorry I forgot." He whispered. It was a little embarrassing to make him stop. I just wasn't ready to do some stuff yet.

"I brought this with me." Jack said while holding up a joint.

"No we can't! Not here." I told him.

"What do you mean? Why not?" He asked.

"I'm already breaking one rule by sneaking you in here. I don't want to break another rule and do drugs in my grandparents’ house." I told him and he rolled his eyes.

"They didn't necessarily say you couldn't smoke outside." He said, trying to find a loop hole.

"They also didn't say I couldn't sneak anyone in the house, but we both know if either one of my grandparents come up here and catch us we're dead." I said and he sighed.

"Alright fine."

"We can still make out." I said and he smiled. He leaned back down to start kissing me again.

We laid in my bed lazily making out, talking about nothing, and cuddling until five am. I made sure he could leave before the sun came up to wake my grandparents’.

Jack and I snuck downstairs to the front door. I opened it for him and he turned to say bye.

"I'll see you on Monday, alright?" He whispered.

"Okay." I whispered back.

He pulled me to him so we could hug and kiss one more time. Then we pulled away and went to his car. I slowly closed to the door and waited until I heard him drive his car out of our drive way. I exhaled in relief as I walked back up to my room.
