Chaotic

Scarlett is just a couple days away from turning a month old and I’m in disbelief. She came a month early which scared the crap out of me and now, that same amount of time has almost approached. I plan on posting a photo of her with a sign that says how old she is when the time comes which I’m sure will bring a huge smile to Alex’s face. While I was making lunch, I heard my phone ring.

“Hey.”

It was my mom.

“Hey honey. What’s up?”

“Not much. Just making lunch. You?”

“Well, um...”

Something’s not right.

“What’s wrong?”

“Your father’s knocking on the door.”

“What? Has he even thought of the possibility of me being here? I have a restraining order on him for goodness sake.”

“I honestly don’t think so. Something’s seriously wrong with him. Did you call the police yet?”

“Should I?”

“Oh, I don’t know. If he doesn’t leave in the next five to ten minutes, you should.”

“Ok. I’m afraid he’s gonna come try and see you. He is a bastard after all. He rear ended you and could’ve hurt you and Scarlett.”

“I’m afraid too. If he does, I’m gonna call the police because he violated his restraining order and doesn’t even deserve to have the opportunity to see what he missed out on.”

“Perhaps, you could press charges this time.”

“Like I should’ve done in the first place. Alex was right.”

“Abby, sweetie, you couldn’t have known.”

“But it was a possibility.”

Just a couple seconds later, I heard Scarlett and rushed to her side.

“Mom, I really hate to let you go, but Scarlett is crying up a storm right now.”

“Go ahead. It’s fine. She’s your daughter.”

“Please let me know if there are any changes. I love you.”

“I love you, too.”

I hung up and sat my phone down before turning to my daughter.

“Hey princess. What’s wrong?”

She continued to cry. I picked her up and rocked her against my chest till she calmed down which was quite a while.

“You know something isn’t right? Don’t you?”

She nodded off shortly after that then I finished making my lunch. Five minutes later, my phone went off again.

“Abby!” I heard my mom shout before I could even say anything.

“Mom? What’s going on?” I said panicked.

“Your father just yelled from the front door that he’s headed toward you and Alex’s house.”

“Oh my God. I’m calling the police before he gets here.”

“Be careful, baby. I love you.”

“I love you, too, Mom.”

My heart was beginning to race. My mom’s house was only ten minutes away from mine. As soon as I heard a hard knock on my door, I dialed 911.

“Abigail! Let me in!”

I had never been this scared since the night I was raped even though I was pretty damn scared when I was in that car accident. I stayed in the nursery while he continued to pound on the door.

“I demand to see my granddaughter!”

What makes him have any right to begin with if he acts like that? And two, when you endanger the lives of two people you are related to and want to know?

“I know I don’t need him, but I’d really love to have your daddy here right now.” I said to Scarlett as she was sleeping in her crib.

I know I can handle this on my own, but I would love to have the comfort of Alex right now. What seemed a lifetime later but was actually less than ten, I heard the police outside. My daughter was still sound asleep, so I let her be as I walked downstairs. I opened the door to a police officer.

“Hello, ma’am. Are you the woman who called?”

“Yes. The man who was knocking on my door was my father. He violated my restraining order.”

“Would you like to press charges?”

Do it.

“Definitely...”

I talked with the officer for a handful of minutes, then headed back inside. I called up my mom as soon as the police were gone.

“Hey honey.”

“Hey. He’s gone. He was arrested.”

“You’re pressing charges.”

“I never wanted to ever do that, but I have to. I have to protect everyone I love.”

“I’m sorry you had to do it, Abby.”

“It is what it is.”

The fact that I had to deal with the legal system again makes me shake my head; I never thought I would have to again. I looked at my phone to see what the time was as I walked up the steps to Scarlett’s room.

One pm.

Ok. The boys aren’t going to be done playing until about eleven, so I’m going to have to wait at least another hour till I am able to speak to the other love of my life. This is going to be what he wanted to happen in the first place when he found he was the person who hit my car and I’m afraid there’s gonna be an ‘I told you so’ or something along those lines. Over an hour later, I heard my phone ring and saw that it was Alex.

“Hey.” I sighed, sitting back in a rocking chair.

“Hey. What’s up? You sound tired.”

“I’ve had an eventful afternoon already and not in a good way.”

“What happened?”

“It started with a call from my mom. My father was pounding on her front door, but she wouldn’t let him in. Ten minutes, she called me back and said he was on his way to our house.”

“Why the fuck was he at her house?”

“I don’t know, but I told her if he wasn’t gone in five to ten minutes, to call the police and by that time, she called to warn me where he was going. She didn’t answer the door if you’re wondering.”

“Is everybody okay?”

“Everybody is fine. He came here demanding to see his granddaughter. I called the police and I'm pressing charges like I should've done and you told me I should've done months ago. Go ahead. Say I told you so."

"Abby... I'm not gonna say that."

"Why not? You should."

"You can't predict him doing that fucking idiotic like he did today by violating his restraining order. Plus, he didn't even hurt anyone this time. I’m just glad everyone’s safe.”

“I’m not looking forward to dealing with the legal system again.”

“But, at least this time, you don’t have to deal with your rapist, so it shouldn’t be a traumatic experience.”

“You’re right. Thank you for not saying I told you so.”

“I could never do that to you, especially in this situation. I understand and supported what you said and did when he tried to hurt our family all those months ago. I care about you two way too much to even say something like that.”

He really does cause my heart to melt so often.

“That eases my mind. Thank you so much.”

“No need to say thank you. I love you more than anything.”

“I love you, too.”

Catching up!
Aw, that was sweet how Abby's mom found her perfect dress. :) And aw, yay, Alex is back! :D And they're allowed to get... reacquainted now, haha. XD Abby must have curves now too from the baby, with all the attention; glad that Alex is protective of her, though. <3
This is really random, but I love when she calls Scarlett a ham like that little moment in chapter 35. XD So cute.
Great job with the updates! Can't wait for more! :)

Yay, another update! And OMG, I'm commenting within like, a day instead of a few weeks. XD A record for my commenting lately.
Great job with the chapter! Aw, Abby's mom is sick. :/ Hope she gets better for them to be able to go dress shopping. And haha, Abby and Alex making plans. ;) That's all I'm gonna say on that. XD
Short but sweet update. :) Note at the beginning that Scarlett's name is cut off for some reason, and it starts "carlett" lol.
Can't wait for more! :D

OMG, a dramatic update. :O Loved it, though!
I'm glad Abby and Scarlett are okay. Her dad is literally insane. Man... I'm glad you finally put that a bit to rest, though. I mean, she still has to deal with the legal stuff, but I feel like this is a step to resolving it. I was just wondering when he would turn up again.
And her conversation afterwards with Alex was very sweet. <3
One thing I want to note:
What seemed a lifetime later but was actually less than ten, I heard the police outside.
... this line was a bit off, because you just said "less than ten." Less than ten, minutes? I'm assuming that's what it was. XD But as is, it's sounding like you're saying less than ten lifetimes, lol. But that's just a small thing; the minutes thing is probably easily assumed.
Excited to see more! :)

Aw, Abby's on her own now with the baby; I hope this doesn't take too much of a toll on her mentally. :(
I'm loving these flashback scenes, especially the one in this latest update, that gives us insight to their relationship as it was starting, that we haven't seen before. It would be interesting to see more of those moments. You've done them before, but something just struck me about this one. Perhaps because it was about their first date. :')
It's funny, I got on here to read chapter 31, when I got sent the update for 32. :P So, two updates! Woot! :D
Great job with both updates; excited to read more! :)
