Make Me Skin And Bones
Nostalgia
Today, Marks 3 years and 4 months since We left Baltimore. It also marks the day Josh swore he'd keep in touch. Which, he lasted longer than I had originally thought. One year and six months...
He Joined the football team and well. Became 'popular'.
I, of course, understood sports teams take up a lot of time. But then again, you can find time out of your day to have a small conversation with someone, no matter how busy you are...
He did just that Yesterday, but... He wasn't happy about it.
So I guess that's just life.
And I'd be okay with it.
If I weren't sitting in a car.
On my way back to Baltimore... I mean... Maybe things will be different?
Maybe he will see me, and everything will go back to normal, and we will be best friends again.
Hopefully.
---------------------
The soft rumble of the car on the dirt road was what kept me from sleeping, The way the car jerked every-time we hit a bigger rock. I sighed opening my eyes, looking up into the black abyss that we call the sky. The stars twinkling above.
I looked at the dashboard clock. The green numbers illuminating the dark car interior. No lights for miles on the otherwise abandoned back road.
"Whose bright idea was it to move in the middle of the night?" I mumbled to my mom, My voice sounding louder due to the deafening silence that had swept over the car.
"Sweetie it's just easier. We're almost there, not too much longer. We should be there around seven." I groaned "I don't have to go to school right away right?" She laughed "No, I'll register you in on Monday, We can spend the weekend unpacking, Maybe you can contact Alex?" I shook my head at her comment "He's busy with Football ma" SHe nodded "Well, get some sleep"
-
The second time I woke up we were pulling into the driveway of our new house. Which just so happened to be our old house, and by the looks of it... Alex still lived next door. "You've changed so much, He won't recognize you" I looked at my mom, "I think you need help, Brook" I sighed "Mom with what?" "You're, so skinny, Brook!" I shook my head "If I had a problem, I'd tell you."
Stepping out I hard a door open. "MOM STOP" A voice yelled, laughing slightly "It's just a normal game! Now I gotta go I'll be late for school!"
Alex.
I saw him walk out and take a quick glance over at us out the corner of my eye before continuing on.
"Shit its cold ma." I laughed once inside.
And as promised. We spent the weekend unpacking.
Monday.
"Come on, Gotta get you to school"
My mom had offered to drive me but I declined the offer.
I put my headphones on and made my way to school.
Maybe I'd see Alex.
I smiled at that though, but of course, it didn't follow through.
No one really bothered me, Until lunch that day.
A guy sat across from me "You, Must be Brooklyn" I sighed... "If you're here to be a dick, then go elsewhere, I'll stay out of everyone's way, Hell I'll even eat in the stalls if you don't want me in the caff. But please fuck off" The guy smirked "I'll let Alex know you're here" I shook my head "No need." I smiled, but the guy stood up and walked away. Wonderful.
-
I wanted to get home as quick as possible. I kept my head down and ended up running into someone.
"Watch it!" The guy snapped. I didn't dare look up. I picked up my pace and walked up the stairs of my home. Cursing lewdly at my mom. Why'd it have to be the same house?
Once inside, I did my normal routine.
100 sit ups
200 jumping jack
and a 2 minute plank.
I was so not ready for school tomorrow.
Hey, I'm still here! lol.
Great job with the new update! A bit sad, though, but I guess this story is in general. Nothing too happy came in the chapter. But glad that Alex didn't leave her this time.
Hope to see more soon! :)
