What you do to me

Turkey and ham were in the oven, the house was lit up with Christmas lights, cookies were baked, decorated and displayed, gifts wrapped and under the tree, drinks were poured and things seemed to be going right which is why I wasn't allowing Jack into the kitchen he'd much rather watch the football games in the living room anyway. As I finished getting ready it was almost as if my stomach was tying itself in knots and pulling every which way, I rubbed on it softly as I laid on the bed trying to get my shit together before the family started arriving. I sat up on the bed as Jack walked into the room fixing his shirt, I could see the way he was looking at me like he knew something was up.

"You look beautiful but also like you're gonna puke everywhere "

"I feel like I'm going to puke everywhere"

I groaned as the sound of the doorbell echoed through the house, I looked at Jack as he walked over rubbing my back.

"I'll cover you, just go sit in the bathroom before you throw up all over the bed"

He kissed my head and I followed his advice, as I sat on the edge of the tub I began to feel nausea build up a little more every agonizing second that passed. I held my head as I stood up and grabbed the trash can, finally being able to empty my stomach felt relieving.

"Jack said you're not well, are you okay, baby?"

"I'm okay, Mama, I'll be down in a minute, help Joyce with the dinner, please?"

"Lisa wanted to know if it was alright she came in with you, I'm gonna help out in the kitchen, dear"

I shook my head not wanting to be seen like this but there was anyone I trusted more than anyone it was Lisa.

"She can come in, thank you, mama"

I said as I held the trash can in front of me more of the nausea hit like a ton of bricks but it was quicker to come out this time.

"Aw, you look cute, even though you probably don't feel it. You haven't been feeling good for days and just like your brother you don't see a doctor until you have to."

"Thank you, I'm fine it's probably just the stress of the holidays I thought nothing was going to get done."

"I think it's a little more than that sugar plum, that's why I bought these"

She took the CVS bag out from her purse and handed me two different brands of pregnancy tests, I looked at her and wanted to laugh and cry at the same time.

"Take them, come downstairs than a few minutes later go back up, I'll be downstairs."

Lisa wrapped her arms around me and I wrapped mine around her when she let go and walked out of the bathroom I took both of the tests out of their packaging and followed the instructions to a tee.

I'd brushed my teeth, fixed my hair and makeup, put the Santa hat on my head and walked downstairs. I found Jack quickly and he pressed a quick kiss to my lips and smiled as he put his arm around my waist

"There she is, hey, Dani!"

May said excitedly as she threw her arms around me and held me tight, she rubbed my back and pulled away from me leaving a few inches in between us.

"Christmas is the worst time to not feel good, I'm sorry, honey"

"Thank you, I'm actually feeling better though and hungry so I can't wait for the food to be done."

Everyone had found their places to sit and catch up which made me smile, I looked at the clock, the fifteen seemed to drag on and on. Pouring a glass of cider I took a drink and set it back down when I saw Alex coming towards me with his arms out, knowing I was in for a hug. He gripped his arms around me lifting me a few inches off the ground and spun me around setting me back down on my feet.

"Dad's been looking for you since Mom told everyone you were sick but you look amazing, look at you all cute like a little Mrs. Claus."

"Thank you, Lex, I was going for that look."

"Festive despite feeling like shit, I love it."

We both laughed and I lifted up my glass taking another drink out of it as Alex looked at me with a smile.

"I love you, Danielle, I feel like I tell you that too much but you were and are still the best late Christmas present in the world."

"I love you too, Alexander William and you are the best big brother in the entire world, I got lucky"

Alex wrapped his arms around me again and smiled as Lisa walked up to us and he gave her a quick peck on the lips as she grabbed my hand.

"I need to steal her for a second, babe, I'll bring her back to you"

Alex nodded my head as Lisa took me closer to the stairs and we walked up them standing in the stairway.

"Ready for this?"

"Ready as can be, I think"

I said as we walked into the bedroom and into the bathroom, I took a deep breath as I walked over to the counter and picked up the two different tests. When I looked down at the two of them, I saw the two pink lines on the one and the two blue lines on the other. My heart began to race and I felt as though my whole body began to shake.

"Lisa, they're positive, both of them, clear as day."

"Alright deep breaths, babe, it's gonna be okay. You just have to tell Jack, if you don't wanna tell everyone you don't have to but you also have to tell Alex because otherwise he'll just snoop and you know that."

We both laughed as she wrapped her arms around me and held me tightly for a moment before we walked from the bathroom and into the bedroom where Jack and Alex were standing, they knew something was up and they were about to find out.

"You two keep disappearing, what's going on?"

I looked at Jack and Alex then over to Lisa, her hand rubbing the small of my back as I handed one of the pregnancy tests to Jack, he looked at me and Alex looked at me a moment later.

"Holy fuck, you're pregnant, wow,"

Jack said as he sat down on the bed, Alex sat next to him and I felt my heart drop as I looked at Jack rubbing his hands over his face. After a minute of sitting, he got up and walked over to me, his hands on my shoulders running down my arms and both hands landing soon on my stomach.

"I'm not gonna lie, I'm scared out of my mind but we're going to have a baby, a little us"

"I'm scared too, we don't have to tell anyone else yet just give us time to settle down for the news, get to a doctors appointment and make sure everything's good first."

Jack nodded his head and wrapped his arms around me, my head rested on his chest as his hands rubbed my lower back.

"That's a good idea, it'll be hard not to tell because everyone is literally just right downstairs but we need to take time to process, get things arranged. It'll be fine, babe"

"I know it'll be fine because I have you,"

"I love you, Danielle"

"I love you too, Jack"

I said as he pressed a soft kiss to my lips, my body just held against his for a moment before he looked at me with a smile. Something about being in this moment with Jack made me think that maybe everything really would be alright.
