Chapter 2 - Keep Your Cool in an Orderly Fashion

Charlotte eventually found me standing stunned amidst the crowd of people. She was yelling something at me, but I couldn't hear her over the loud music. "What?" I asked. "I said why are you so zoned out?! You almost got yourself smashed against the barricade!" "Oh sorry, I couldn't hear over the music," I said, shaking my head. "Um Lennon, there's no one playing," she said, looking at me concerned. Sure enough, the stage was empty and still being set up for All Time Low. The only music was coming from the huge speakers that played old punk-rock songs while we waited. "What's wrong?" Charlotte asked. "I uh-" Right when I was about to tell her about Alex, a clap of thunder sounded interrupting me. You could already hear the rain pounding on the roof, it sounded as if it were about to break it. Everyone just ignored it though, they were only concerned with the party inside.

Charlotte raised her eyebrows, beckoning me to finish. "I just, I'm starting to get a headache you know, from all this," I said, motioning to the arena. So, I can't exactly tell Charlotte I ran into one of her beloved members of All Time Low. For one, she'd kill me. Two, she'd make too big of a deal about it. She'd ask me everything from what he smells like to what's his social security number, and quite frankly I don't even know his last name. It's just better left unsaid. "Oh, well I've got some Tylenol in my purse," she said, looking for the medicine. "No it's okay! I'm sure I'll be fine."She nodded at me and turned her attention back to the stage, where the huge ATL logos had suddenly lit up. The crowd cheered in response, and the lights went down.

The stage became immersed in a gray light, and only the silhouette of a person was visible. A slow guitar riff started. "Wishing on a star that's just a satellite," a voice rang out. The silence was now broken, and the crowd went wild again. "Driving in a car with broken tail-lights." The crowd began to sing along, but I was still wondering if you spelt "satellite" with two t's or one.

"Growing up with eyes glued shut! Wishing on a star, that's! just a satellite. Driving in a car, with! broken tail-lights." He sang with aggression on the repetition of the first verse, which I liked. "We were just kids we were just kids singing, we were just kids we were just kids," he crooned. This chant was actually quite soothing. "We were just kids we were just kids singing! We were just kids we were just kids!" At this point, two other band members joined him on the sides of the stage, also becoming silhouettes in the spotlight. Everyone cheered as the other members added their instruments to the song. The singer finished off the chant, and then the stage went dark.

The gray lights transformed into red and yellow strobes. The silhouettes turned into tall guys with typical rocker haircuts and wayy to much energy. And their leader was none other than Alex, who now donned a leather jacket and bright red sneakers. Now that's a look. "How ya doing L.A?!" he shouted into the mic. Everyone screamed in response, including me. He gave his guitar a few strums, and began singing the next song. "Say hello to all my little nightmares," Charlotte sang along next to me, while also eyeing the guitarist on the far left. He had a blonde streak in his hair, and was definitely the most energetic member.

"Hey, who's that?" I asked, interrupting her karaoke session. She looked over at the guy and smiled. "That is Jack Barakat. Aka my future husband," she said, taking a sip of her alcohol. I scoffed, "Okay, how do you have so many rockstar husbands?" "I'm collecting them!" she grinned. "I've been waiting for you too call! And dress me up, sucker love, drag me 'round, kicking and screaming" We turned our attention back to the stage. "So long and thanks for all, the make-believe, the memories, of you and me, kicking and screaming".

Just when the song had reached its climax, everything went dark.
The crackling of lightning and electricity could be heard from outside. Everyone looked around panicked, searching for an answer to the darkness. "Are you kidding me?! Did the lights seriously just go out?!" Charlotte cried. I wanted to cry out too, but quite frankly I was too shocked to say anything. "Hey, everyone can I have your attention up here!" Alex shouted from the stage. It was a lot harder to hear him now without the mic, but with one sharp pitched whistle everyone was engaged. "So the storm has knocked the power out, and unfortunately we won't be able to finish our show due to the concern of your safety." Everyone collectively let out a groan. "So we're gonna ask you all to evacuate in an orderly fashion toward the exit signs."
No one evacuated in an orderly fashion.

Everyone squeezed into everyone trying to get out. Luckily, Charlotte was my knight in shining 6 inch heels and stomped us through the crowd. We reached an exit in no time.
We stepped outside of the building and into the brutal downpour. I turned in the opposite direction towards my house. "So I'll catch up with you later, ok?" I said, detaching my wrist from her strong grip. "No no, where are you going?" she asked confused. "I'm going home," I exclaimed. "Lennon, how did you get here?" She raised her blonde eyebrows. "Same way I get everywhere. I walked." "Yeah that's what I thought. Come with me," she grabbed my arm again and pulled me to the parking lot. "Noo Char its fine," I protested. She continued to tug at my arm anyway. "Nope, I am not letting you walk in the second coming of Twister," she insisted.

"Fine. But do you still drive that-" My question was answered once I saw the huge car that filled up two parking spaces. We were officially those people.
"Range Rover? Of course why would I ever get rid of it?" Charlotte smiled. That Range Rover was her prized possession. And when you're as rich as Charlotte, it's very hard to come across something you love way more than all of the other amazing things you have.

"Huh that's weird, I thought I parked close to the tour bus," she said, glancing around the lot. I stared at her in disbelief as lightning struck overhead. "They probably left already Charlotte. Just like we should be!" I yelled. "Oh right." As soon as she unlocked the door I slipped into the passenger's seat and shivered. I was soaked from head to toe already. "Alright, let's get out of here," I mumbled. Charlotte started the car and we began driving.
Until we saw four soaking-wet guys run out of the venue.

Charlotte stopped the car and rolled down the window. "O my god," she gasped. "What the hell?" I whispered.
It was the members All Time Low.

"HEY!" one of them called out. As they got closer, I realized it was Alex. "Oh no." "O. My. Gosh is this really happening right now," Charlotte whispered. I was afraid she was running out of breaths. As the boys stopped at our car, I'm pretty sure she stopped breathing entirely. They kept their distance until Alex's searching eyes landed on me. No no no no no no. "Hey I know you," he exclaimed. Fuck. He came closer and peered into the window, his other bandmates following him. "Hi," he aimed at Charlotte, "I'm Alex." "I know," she squeaked. He then smiled at her and she nearly fainted. "Wait how do you know Lennon?" she came to. "We met backstage. What do you guys want?" I forced out. 'Wait you ran into Alex Gaskarth backstage you didn't think to tell me?!"
Huh. So that's what his last name was.

"Okay Charlotte that is not what's important right now! What's important is why the hell these guys are stopping us in the middle of a rainstorm!" I was losing my own breath with Alex being this close to my face, but I tried to keep it together. "We need a ride, feisty."

I cocked an eyebrow at Alex. "Who said that?" I asked with a twinge of attitude. The guy with the blonde streak in his hair stepped forward. Jack Barracuda? He seemed a lot nicer on stage.

"Okay excuse me for being a little rude, but if you can't tell it's raining cats and dogs out here," I scorned. "Oh really? No I couldn't tell I don't see any dogs," Alex mocked.

I glared at him and he winked at me. Even though this time it was less sincere, a butterfly still flapped its wings in my stomach. "Hey, guys i'm sorry but we really need a ride back to our hotel," the Jack interrupted. "Don't you guys have a designated driver or something?" I asked. "We're not drunk," another one snickered in the back. Once he realized I'd heard him, he shouted, "I'm Rian by the way." Charlotte held in another breath. "We had our tour bus but it's...gone," Alex exclaimed. "Gone?" Charlotte asked. "I knew I parked next to it!"

"How did they leave the whole band?" I laughed. "I don't know, I guess they thought we were on it!" Alex raged. He blushed under the embarrassment, and probably my intense laughing. "So can you give us a ride or not?" Jack asked. I was ready to leave them stranded just for being such famous assholes. And I was about to say that, but Charlotte gave me this look. If you turn them away I swear to god I will kick your ass when we get home, she said. Or at least, her eyes did. I rolled mine in response. She raised her eyebrows. You know I can take you! I let out a defeated sigh. "Thank you," she mouthed. With a smirk, she turned back to the boys and spoke firmly,
"Get in."

Notes

Hi guys! Sorry I'm pretty busy with summer classes right now, But I am working on new updated chapters so bear with me. The old post of this story keeps gaining new reads everyday and it's so frustrating that I can't update it lol. But I guess this'll do for now. *dramatically sighs* Anyway, subscribe if you like, vote, and tell me what you think! Thanks!

Ah, that's okay, thanks for taking my feedback into mind. :) That's awesome of you to do... I feel like a lot of writers often ignore me when I make suggestions, lol, or like already have a plan in mind, so they don't bother with changing anything.
But like I said, if this throws things off too much, I can look past it, I just thought it was a lot happening at once, considering the pace of the other chapters. Don't want you to worry over it too much. So, if you're up for rewriting, go for it, but again, I'll be here when you continue either way. :)

@Nanook
Hey, sorry this is so late, I was trying to figure out how to respond the right way. This did put me off a bit, but I completely understand your point. I'd tried to write this chapter about 4 different times, and this idea wasnt very well thought out and I kinda just wanted to put something out there. Switching povs WAS Supposed to bring new information to the story, stuff that Lennon might not be aware of. Alex IS slightly a player and a flirt in this story, but I'd like to think that he wouldn't want to cheat purposely. I' thinking of rewriting it and trying again, maybe without him having a gf this time. Thanks

Hiii... I'm still here, I swear! Sorry for the delayed comment; just have had a hectic time trying to get on here lately to read things.
But anyway... interesting new update. I'm a bit confused though, and maybe this is a warning to be cautious: I felt like this chapter almost belonged to a completely different story. I can understand maybe wanting a switch in POV, but I feel like this chapter is a total divergence to the original story started in Lennon's POV. First of all, the fact that Alex is hiding his other relationship, which comes a bit out of nowhere. Second, that he suddenly sees his ex AND kisses her at a party, after being caught in a near-kiss with Lennon... this also comes a bit out of nowhere. It just... seems like a lot all of a sudden, for one chapter, for the story...
I know you're rewriting though a bit/reposting, so I don't want to discourage you, but just want to give my honest feedback. I'll still stick around to read, and maybe this is just diving into the full concept of the story, just in a quick manner. Idk. But I'm unsure how to feel about Alex's intentions now. Like, the first three chapters he just seemed like this innocent love interest, and now he seems bad. Very bad. I guess maybe what would've been better is if him having someone at home was maybe introduced the second chapter, and then this chapter just being the ex. That could've maybe helped frame it better.
Just want to be honest and hopefully give some helpful/useful feedback. I did still find the chapter great, it was just kind of a lot to take in at once. Like, I feel like there was two or three character developments that should've been spread in say, three chapters, if that makes sense.
But again, not meant to discourage, only want to give you honest feedback. Hope that you continue writing! Interested in seeing more! :)

You're back!!! I'm so glad!!! I love how she can read him so well, that she always seems to know what he is thinking/feeling. Can't wait for more!
