Secrets Don't Make Friends

Zack had tried to call me multiple times over the weekend. I ignored each of his calls and texts. I didn't break up with Alex and I didn't tell him about what Zack and I did so there was no reason I needed to talk to Zack. The thought of having to see him today at school was making my stomach churn. What if he made a huge scene in front of everyone? I wouldn't be able to live with myself if anyone found out.

I had got through the first half of my day luckily without running into Zack. I knew he was here because I saw his car in the parking lot. Now that it was lunchtime I was sure I would see him in the cafeteria so I needed to do everything to avoid that area with Alex.

"Lex, I'm not really hungry." I told Alex as he met me after class.

"I thought you said you weren't sick anymore?" He asked.

"I'm not sick, I just don't feel like eating."

"Oh okay, well you can just sit at the table with us. I won't force you to eat anything." He said. I felt so frustrated, I needed to try harder.

"Well what if we skip lunch... and do something else?" I suggested and he stopped to look at me.

"Like what?" He asked.

"Like go have a talk in your backseat."

"Yeah I'm definitely okay with that." He said, making me chuckle. He grabbed my hand and walked out of the school with me to the parking lot. I looked around to make sure Zack wasn't around and he wasn't.

We successfully made it to Alex’s car without seeing Zack and we both got in the back seat. I took a deep breath once we were sitting together quietly. Alex leaned to the front to put his key in the car ignition so he could turn the radio on. Ariana Grande's song "Side to Side" played through the speakers and I relaxed. This was going to be the first time Alex and I had sex since I found out what he did and I had sex with Zack. I really needed this to calm my nerves. So far we were back to our normal selves, but it was still awkward at times. Especially when Alex mentioned Zack.

Alex grabbed a bottle of lube out of his glovebox and to sit back next to me.

"You're always prepared." I said and he laughed.

"You never know when we might need it." He said.

I laid on my back and Alex climbed on top of me and kissed me. I felt blood rush down my body as he began to rub our crotches together. I wanted Alex inside of me fast so I could forget the feeling of Zack.

Alex and I got out of our clothes as quickly as we could in his back seat. I saw three faded bite marks on his chest that I knew weren't from me. It had to be from Friday night at Cass's party. I took a deep breath and tried to ignore the marks for now.

He settled between my legs and reached over to his pants on the floor. He pulled a condom out of the back pocket. Then he pulled the package open and put the condom on himself. Watching him do that turned me on more. I opened the lube bottle for him and pour it into his hand.

"Thanks." He chuckled and rubbed the lube all over himself in the condom. Then he rubbed the excess on his hand into my hole. I didn't need much prep for obvious reasons. I laid back trying to relax and not think about how Zack and I did this a couple of days ago.

"Wait you get on top." Alex told me.

"Okay." I agreed and sat up. He sat up in the seat and I climbed into his lap. I hovered over him and he helped me line up with him. I took a deep breath and slowly lowered myself down on him.

"Oh God." I moaned.

The sound of us breathing hard and the back of my thighs hitting his thighs filled the car. I placed one hand on the back window of the car and the other on his shoulder to balance myself. It was hard to get comfort in the back of a car, but I needed this.

Alex's head went down to my right shoulder and he started biting and sucking there. I let him bite as much as he wanted to so I would have lots of marks to remind me that I'm his. I wanted everyone to seem them, well just Hayley and Zack.

I ran my hand through Alex's somewhat sweaty hair as he began to thrust up into me.

"Fuck, you feel so good." He sat up to kiss me on the lips.

"You're going to make me come." I said against his lips and he moaned.

"I'm close too." He whispered.

I wrapped my hand around myself and started stroking. Alex looked down so he could watch me touch myself. I started moaning loudly like the guys in the porn videos to turn him on more and it worked. His thrust became sloppy as he slowed down and finally came. I didn't feel any guilt like I did after I finished having sex with Zack. This was exactly what I needed.

Alex stayed inside of me until I finished coming on my stomach. I pulled off of him and sat down on the seat next to him. I laughed at the fogged up windows as Alex moved around to clean us up. He grabbed some napkins from his glovebox and wiped my stomach. Then he leaned down to kiss me after he was finished.

"I really needed this." He told me and I smiled.

"Me too." I agreed. I don’t know why but I got this feeling that we could finally go back to normal after this. We separated our clothes from each other and got dressed. Then we laid together in his back seat until it was time to go back in.

We both got out of Alex’s car, held hands, and walked back towards school. The bell rang as we walked back into the building, signaling it was time to get to class. I heard someone clear their throat behind us in the hall and I turned around to see Zack standing there. My stomach dropped as I saw him glaring at Alex and me. I tried so hard to beg him with my eyes not to say anything to give us away.

"I see you two are still happily together." Zack stated.

"Yeah, why wouldn't we be?" Alex asked and tighten his grip around my hand. He was probably just as nervous as me. In his mind Zack knew that he had cheated but I still didn't.

"I didn't say you shouldn't be. I was just making an observation." He shrugged. I felt like crying. He could ruin my whole life if he really wanted to.

"Um alright. We're gonna head to class." Alex told him and he nodded. I looked down so I wouldn't accidentally make eye contact. I followed Alex back into the building and he walked me towards my class.

"I don't know why he's been acting so weird lately, but it's starting to bother me." Alex said.

"Me too." I agreed quietly.

"I think I'm going to keep my distance from him for a little while. You do the same, okay?"

"Okay." I mumbled. I was trying to stay away from Zack but it was so hard when we went to the same school.

The bell rang telling us to go to class so Alex kissed me and walked across the hall to his class. I sighed and prayed for this class to go by quickly so I could go home and not be so stressed out.

My prayers were answered as the bell rang at the end of class. My class didn't go by quickly but it was finally over. I met Alex outside of my class like always. He covered his mouth to keep from laughing when he saw me.

"What's so funny?" I asked.

"There are hickeys all over your neck and you just sat through class like that." He said and I gasped. I forgot I let him bite all over me, it sounded like a good idea in the heat of the moment. I didn't want my teacher and other students judging me.

"Lex that's not funny!" I whined and tried to pull my shirt up.

"It kind of is." He said and I glared at him.

I quickly walked out to the parking lot so I wouldn't feel self-conscious any more. Rian and Cass were standing outside where they normally stood waiting on us.

"Hey where were you guys at lunch?" Cass asked me and I showed her my neck. "Jack, it looks like you were attacked by a leech." She gasped and her and Rian laughed.

"I got a little carried away." Alex said and I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah, a little." I said, sarcastically.

"I just saw Zack. He looked angry. He didn't even stop to tell us hi, he just walked right pass us." Rian told Alex.

"Yeah we saw him in the hall when lunch ended. He said he was ‘surprised to see us still together’ or some shit like that." Alex said and Rian raised an eyebrow at him.

"That's weird. I really wonder what's got him like that." Cass said.

"I don't know but I'm gonna keep my distance from him and I told Jack to do the same."

"Yeah that's probably a good idea." Rian agreed. "He's a little too unpredictable right now."

"Yeah." Alex agreed.

"Alright we're gonna go. We'll see you both tomorrow." Rian said and we told them bye.

I got into Alex's car with him and he started it. I looked down at my phone and saw I had a new message from Zack. I decided to open it to see if he was saying anything important.

You were supposed to break up with him.

I couldn't do it. What you and I did makes me no better than him so it isn't fair that I break up with him. It actually makes me a hypocrite.

"Do you want to go home?" Alex asked.

"Yeah, can you stay with me for a little?" I answered.

"Mhmm, we're not having practice today." He said and drove in the direction of my house. I looked back at my phone to read Zack's new message.

What the hell are you talk about? He cheated on you first.

Yeah, but what I did soon after wasn't much better. I shouldn't have done that with you. Can we just forget about it? You can tell Alex you want to quit the band and we can all just move on with our lives.

Reading that message made me sick to my stomach. I quickly typed a response because Alex was pulling into my driveway.

Zack I'm begging you not to say anything. Just let me and Alex be happy. Please!!

I put my phone in my pocket so I wouldn't have to think about him anymore right now. Alex followed behind me to my front door and I unlocked it and let us in.

"What had you so preoccupied the whole ride here?" Alex asked.

"I was um texting my mom about Beyoncé and the rumor that she already had the twins." I lied and he chuckled.

"Yeah they were talking about it on the radio this morning." He said and went to the kitchen.

He pulled out two cups and poured us both a cup of juice. Then he pulled out a skillet, bread, butter and cheese.

"Are you making me a grilled cheese?" I asked.

"Yep, I figured you were hungry after skipping lunch." He said and I nodded.

I watched as he made us both a sandwich and grabbed us a bag of chips. He brought me my sandwich and sat next to me with his.

"Thanks." I told him.

"No problem."

We ate and did some of our homework that was due tomorrow. Usually we'd be so busy talking or kissing we wouldn't be concerned with homework. I think talking to Zack today bought us both back to reality. Zack could ruin both of our lives if he really wanted too.

"My grandma paid for my application for Baltimore U." I told Alex when I remembered.

"Really? That's great! I'm sure you'll get in! Now after we graduate, Rian and I will get our apartment together and you and Cass can stay with us while you go to school and watch the place while we're on tour." He said happily. We've had this planned for the past two years. I was going to go to school and get a business degree and Alex was going to become a big time Rockstar along with his friends. I should have been happy that our plans were falling into place, but I couldn't help feeling down.

"What are you guys going to do about the band, you know, if Zack is still acting strange and missing practice?" I asked.

"I'm sure we can find a replacement. Jaime is a pretty good Bass player and Vic can do back up guitar. We'll be fine." He assured me and I nodded.

We heard the front door being opened and my mom came in. She kicked off her heels and stopped when she saw us still sitting at the kitchen table.

"Wow this is a first. Usually you two are upstairs doing god-knows-what when I get home." She chuckled and I playfully rolled my eyes.

"Hey, Lily, how was work?" Alex asked her.

"A fucking shit-storm as always, but thanks for asking." She said and he laughed. My mom worked in the call center of a health insurance company. She hated her job, but it paid well. "How was school?" She asked as she walked into the kitchen where we were and I shrugged.

"It was alright." I told her.

"What's on your neck?" She asked, ignoring what I said. "Are those hickeys? Did you put hickeys on my son?" She asked Alex.

"I have no idea how those got there." He lied and I chuckled.

"Yeah right. My boy was so pure until he met you." She jokingly scolded him. "And you two better be using condoms."

"Mom please!" I complained.

"What? It's not like I don't hear what you two do upstairs. I just need to make sure you're being safe." She chuckled and I turned bright red.

"Alright Alex we're leaving." I grabbed his hand and lead him upstairs with me while my mom laughed harder.

"She's only going to tease you more cause you let it bother you so much." He chuckled when we got to my room.

"It's so embarrassing though." I whined.

"Yeah but it's not like she wasn't telling the truth. You were pure and innocent when we first met. Now you're more perverted than me." He said and I hit him lightly on the arm.

"No I'm not." I grumbled.

"You're the one that wanted to have sex in the back of my car today." He said and I rolled my eyes.

"Well it'll never happen again." I said stubbornly and he laughed.

"No no I'm sorry. I'll stop." He said and kissed my shoulder. He lifted his lips to mine and kissed me.

Alex stayed over for two more hours just lying in bed with me. He took a took a nap for part of his time here, but I woke him up because I felt alone. We spent the rest of our time sharing kisses and playing billiards and other games against each other on our phones.

"I should go. My mom's making dinner and she'll complain if I'm late." Alex said after a while.

"Okay. I'll see you tomorrow." I told him.

"Alright. Love you." He kissed me.

"Love you too."

He left out of my room and I laid back on my bed staring at my ceiling. Words couldn't express how much I loved Alex. I smiled as I thought about our relationship over the years. He was always so good to me. I unlocked my phone to look through our pictures. We looked so happy together, I couldn't imagine anything every breaking us apart. The secrets that we were hiding from each other was probably enough to do so though.

I saw that I still had a text notification from Zack's message he sent me earlier. I let curiosity get the best of me and decided to see what it said. I opened it and my heart stopped as I read and re-read the message.
