Trigger warning mentions self harm

Jack's POV

"Its only until his dad gets back, which will be by the end of the week and then he'll be back at home. But until then I have this horrible feeling that he's going to do something stupid if he's in his own." I said to Charlie while holding Ruby as she fell asleep on my shoulder.
"Since when did you care about someone? Last time I checked you used people for sex." Charlie said as he was also holding Jackson until he fell asleep.
"But Alex is different than other people. I don't know I have some sort of need to be there for him and protect him from everything." I said and looked at Ruby who was slowly losing the battle to keep her eyes open but she was still fighting it.
"Never thought I'd see the day you actually cared for someone who wasn't family." Charlie chuckled.
"Well I'm still trying to prove to Alex I'm not your typical fuck boy." I said.
"But you are one, also language, just until little ones have fallen asleep anyway." Charlie said.
"Sorry, but I want to change. Anyway I have some good news for you." I said and lent against the side because holding a 2 year old isn't the lightest thing to be carrying dead weight from.
"What might that be?" Charlie asked.
"Well since being friends with Alex and him helping me with school, when he's not have a mid life crisis, and because of him my grades are going up." I said with a smile and Charlie smiled back.
"Jack that is excellent. If he's working wonders with you then you can definitely keep him." Charlie said and I chuckled and looked down at Ruby and she had lost the battle to keep her eyes open.
"I'm going to put this little lady to bed and then try and get Alex to talk to me." I said and Charlie smiled.
"Keep working your magic and he'll come round." Charlie said and I smiled.
"I hope so." I said quietly and went to out Ruby to bed.

I walked into my room and saw Alex sat on the floor looking down at his arm.
"Alex?" I said softly and Alex looked at me and he was crying and he moved his arm closer to me.
"I'm sorry, I need to go." Alex said quickly and sniffed as he stood up and walked toward the door but I put my hands gently on his shoulders which stopped him.
"Talk to me, it's what I'm here for." I said quietly.
"You'll tell people." Alex whispered looking away from me and I could see that he had managed to cut himself since his arm was bleeding badly.
"Lex I won't tell anyone. Also I need to look at your arm as it's bleeding." I said and Alex shook his head.
"I can't trust you." Alex sniffed.
I made Alex look at me and I wiped away the tears which had fallen.
"You can trust me. Babe I promise I will not tell anyone about this." I said and Alex tried to look away from me but since I had hold of his face he couldn't look away.
"Don't call me babe. I don't belong to you, I'm not your property." Alex said and looked at me hard as he could since crying couldn't really make you look angry unless you was a angry crier.
"Amd I can't let you cut yourself and let you bleed to death. That is one thing I'm not letting you do Alex. I see you as a friend and you are a friend I don't want to lose Alex." I said and Alex shook his head.
"You don't need a friend like me." Alex whispered.
"Yes I do, because of you I have finally got my grades up after failing all my classes for nearly 2 years. I am changing because of you Alex. You have been that friend that has managed to get me to see the other side of going out getting drunk and having sex every weekend." I said and Alex looked at me.
"I've done all that?" Alex asked quietly.
"Yes, part from the sex part since I've been having sex with you for the last 4 weeks." I said and looked at Alex who was looking down with a small blush in his face.
I made Alex look at me again.
"Let me show you, you can trust me by letting me clean your arm up." I said quietly and Alex thought about it for a few seconds before he nodded.
"Let's go to the bathroom then." I said and caught hold of Alex's hand and we went to the bathroom.

"These are pretty deep Alex." I said and looked at Alex as I looked at his arm.
"Don't take me to the hospital." Alex whispered.
I rested my hand on Alex's cheek which made him flinch at first but once he realized what I was doing he soon warmed up to it.
"I'm not taking you there unless you really have to, but since it's manageable I don't think you need to go to hospital." I said and Alex smiled and moved forward and kissed my cheek and quickly pulled back and looked down and messed with his fingers.
"If you are going to kiss me at least kiss my lips." I said as I sorted a bandage out.
"I..I..I possibly c..c..can't do that." Alex stuttered which was really cute.
"Yeah you can." I said and started to put the bandage on Alex's arm.
"But it will go against everything we have." Alex whispered.
"Well for you I'm willing to go against everything. Your different Alexander, different than all the other people I've been with, your a mystery." I said and rested my forehead against Alex's and carried on putting the bandage on until I was done and then I lifted his arm up and kissed the bandage which made Alex smile a shy smile.
"You could at least my lips if you was to kiss me." Alex said with a sniff which made me smile and I moved and kissed Alex which surprised him at first but he soon warmed into the kiss.
Alex was the first one to pull back and he looked down with a bigger blush than before.
"Let's go and watch Harry Potter." I said and Alex smiled and nodded.
I offered Alex my hand which he took and slid himself of the side and I guided us back to my room.

Alex was cuddled into my side slowly losing the battle to keep his eyes open like Ruby was earlier which made me chuckle.
"What?" Alex muttered and got himself comfy.
"Your just reminding me off Ruby earlier struggling to keep your eyes open." I said and I started to mess with Alex's hair out of habit as it was what I normally do to settle Ruby back to sleep.
I looked down and realized it was Alex so I stopped.
"Don't stop, it feels nice." Alex mumbled which made me smile.
"You know, you will have to return the favor one day." I said and Alex smiled sleepily.
"I will." Alex mumbled and he fell asleep which made me smile.
"Night Lex." I whispered and watched Harry Potter until I fell asleep as well.
