Jack's POV

"So you want to waste your life away in that shithole you call work?" My mother said seriously.
"Yes, and for your information I quite like working in that shithole." I said.
"Your a smart boy Jack, why would you waste it working in a dump like that?" Mum said.
"Because I like working in that dump, and it's called a garage so please call it that." I said and grabbed some toast off the side.
"Whatever I fucking wash my hands trying to talk you out of working there." Mum said and walked off shaking her head muttering about something.
"She finally gets the message." I said and looked at my little sister who was smiling at me from her high chair.
"Jacky school." She said with a smile which made me smile.
"That's right Rubes, I have to go to school and learn boring stuff." I said and walked over to her and kissed the top of her head.
"Be good for 'Ami yeah?" I said and walked off.
"Bye, Rubes is unattended in the kitchen by the way!" I shouted up the stairs and mum stood at the top of the stairs.
"No shit Jack, I'm being bloody serious here. You need that job." Mum said and I frowned completely confused but then remembered the reason why I have to work in the first place.
I rolled my eyes and walked out the door and went to school.

"Jack your failing pretty much all of your classes, you was a grade A student until 4 years ago, what happened?" My head of year, Mr Gaskarth, asked since I tend to spend most of my time with them since I always got kicked out of class.
"Shit happened that's what." I said not wanting to go into detail.
"Well you need to change your attitude, sooner rather than later, because soon you'll be making chocies on what college you want to be going to and what you'll be studying." Mr Gaskarth said.
"Well I don't want to go to college, happy working in the garage." I said and looked down.
"But your not though are you?" Mr Gaskarth asked.
"Look, working in that garage is my haven. I like working there, I like fixing people's cars and I like the people I work with." I said and started to pick at the table.
"But is that what you want to do with your life?" Mr Gaskarth asked.
I shrugged my shoulders.
"Not really, but I don't have much choice in the matter." I said quietly.
"You do have a choice Jack, you can forget the last 4 years and focus on the next 2 years here and get the grades you need to do what you really want to do." Mr Gaskarth said.
I sighed and picked at the table more.
"You can start by going to your next lesson, which would be English right?" Mr Gaskarth said.
"But I hate Mr Richards, he's a cunt." I said.
"Hey, we all have to get along with people who we don't like. This can be a start of that." Mr Gaskarth said seriously.
"Fine, but don't be surprised to see me again." I said and Mr Gaskarth chuckled.
"Your full of surpises Jack, now go and make your way to lesson the bell will be going soon." Mr Gaskarth said and I nodded and got up getting my bag and throwing it over my shoulder and walked to English.

The rest of the day was just pure hell and going home wasn't going to be much better especially since I didn't have to go to work today.
I walked in the front door and Ruby was crying and mum was nowhere to be seen.
" 'Ami!?" I said loudly and walked towards Ruby's cries but I got no response back.
I sighed and walked over to Ruby and picked her up and held her close to me.
"It's okay Rubes." I said quietly and kissed the side of her head and just held her until her cries settled down to whimpers which was when I went upstairs and sat Ruby on my bed and went looking to see if mum was unconscious or not.
I pushed her bedroom door open and saw her passed out on the bed.
"Fucking waste of space." I muttered and walked out her room and went to my room and got my duffle bag and started to pack it.
"What you doing Jacky?" Ruby asked between sniffs and whimpers.
"We are going to go and stay with Charlie for a while, does that sound okay to you?" I said softly and a Ruby nodded and wiped her eyes.
"Go and get your teddies and I'll put them in my bag." I said and Ruby nodded and climbed down from my bed and walked to her room.
I looked for my phone and when I found it I looked for Charlie's number and when I found it I pushed the call button and hoped he answered his phone.

"Hey brother what's up?!" Charlie said happily.
"Charlie I need a huge favor." I said seriously and stood up and went looking for Ruby but she met me half way and she walked into my room as I went of got some clothes for her to wear.
"What might that be?" Charlie asked.
"Can me and Rubes come and live with you. I can't stand to live here anymore and I'm not leaving Ruby behind, especially after I walked in and found Ruby screaming the house down and 'Ami passed out in bed." I said and I could tell Charlie was thinking about it.
"Since your both family I'll let you stay, but I don't want any trouble on my doorstep Jack. I'm being serious, any trouble and your gone." Charlie said seriously.
"Charlie you are literally the best brother ever and I promise you that no trouble will come to your front door." I said and got the stuff I need and walked back to my room and put it in my duffle bag.
"Want me to come and pick you both up?" Charlie asked.
"No, we'll walk it'll be fine, we'll see you later." I said.
"Okay, let me know when your both close." Charlie said.
"I will." I said and hung up.
"Go and put your coat on." I said and put some clothes in my bag but not a lot since I knew Charlie still had some of my clothes from the last time I left home.
" 'Ami?" Ruby asked as I helped her with he coat and did the zip up.
" 'Ami is poorly and we can't stay here because it's not safe for us. But we're going to go and stay with Charlie. Charlie has really good food at his house, and Lily and Jackson will be there some you'll have someone too play with." I said and Ruby smile which made me smile.
I grabbed all my valuable stuff and put it in my bag and I picked Ruby up and my bag and went downstairs and walked out the front door not looking back.
