Wasting Water isn't Always a Waste

Wasting Water Isn't Always a Waste

"So, my parents wanted me to spend some time with you."

Alex, the guy that almost every girl swooned over, leaned against the kitchen counter. Normally my parents wouldn't allow a boy to stay passed my 'bed' time. This was different as they'd gone away on holiday for the week and asked if his parents would look after me. I hated that. I didn't need babysitting.

"Apart from boring me out with reading in silence. What do you want to do?"

I closed the book to see him walk over to sit down at the table. "Uh, I'm sorry," I replied. "I have a habit of just-"

"It's ok," he interrupted. "Honestly, I'm glad that your parents are away."

"Why?" Alex smiled. "Well you're living right across the street from me and I've noticed you at school. I...I should get to know you, right?"

"Umm, guess so..."

"Show me to your room then."

Alex jumped up from the chair and grabbed my hands in his, pulled me off the chair and led me out of the kitchen. Once we were in my room, Alex looked around and flopped onto the bed. "You're not very talkative are you?" he asked, when I just stared in his direction.

"I am. It's just odd that you haven't noticed me before and now you're here wanting to know how we should spend our time together."

Alex smirked. "Hey, I've noticed you. You're my neighbour. I see you leave in the morning for school and other places."

"Oh, I see. You're totally stalking me," I joked. Thankfully he knew this and just laughed.

"No," Alex answered getting up from the bed. "Hey, want to have some fun?"

"Depends what sort of fun," I mumbled.

Alex smiled and placed his arm around my shoulders. "I don't mean taking you to a party or anything, come on. Where's the bathroom?"

The bathroom? "What?"

"You also seem to be a little clueless. I may need the bathroom."

"Oh, it's in there," I pointed to the door opposite my room.

Alex had been in there for awhile, I wondered what the hell he was doing. Maybe he'd escaped. I don't know why, I got the feeling that he didn't want to be here. Maybe because he was popular at school, and I'm not. Hopefully that wasn't the case.

"Alex," I knocked on the door. "You've been in there awhile, you ok?"

The door swung open and he dragged me in and closed it. "Relax Summer," he spoke, turning the tap on. Atleast he knew my name. "You need to let go and have some fun."

My thought of him just washing his hands was so wrong, I suddenly felt a drop of water land on my arm. Alex held his finger under the tap, which sprayed it all over the place. Before I could tell him to stop, he took his jacket off.

"What are you doing?"

"What does it look like?" He went back to the filled sink and flicked me with some more water. I shook my head at his childish behaviour. "Come on Summer, you look a little dry." I watched as he switched the tap on further and began to place his finger back. I pushed his hand away and turned the tap off. "What will my parents say?"

"They're not here, seriously loosen up."

I was just about to say that we shouldn't be doing this. It was such a waste of water. However, Alex was right. I did need to chill...loosen up or whatever he'd said to me.

"Fine," I quietly replied as I turned the tap back on and did what he'd just done. I smiled as the water splashed over both of us.

"Summer!" Alex gasped, as if I'd done something wrong. "Hasn't your mother ever told you not to waste water."

His cheeky grin, had me glance over towards the shower and back to him. "My mother's not even here to care." I giggled as I began to grab the shower hose.

Alex must've known what I was up to as he got it first. I tried to grab it, to only be sprayed with even more water. Alex was in hysterics, this was fun. He was really fun. I caught hold of the shower hose, to have it pulled away, in the process he lost his balance and fell which caused me to land on top of him.

"Summer," he said breathlessly which made me look at him. I didn't have a chance to reply as he spoke up again. "I've definitely noticed you. Let me prove it."

I nodded, not knowing what to expect. We both sat up against the bath tub. I looked over at Alex, to get some proof. What he did next was a surprise. I didn't know he felt that way towards me. His soft lips had collided with mine. The pounding in my chest picked up even more pace.

I'm in a very wet bathroom being kissed by my neighbour. My very hot, popular one at that.

"Was that enough proof," Alex reached over and turned the shower off.

"You...you kissed me..."

"Yea Sum. I like you a lot. That's why I'm glad about this week. You seem to be a little...umm shy, I guess. This water fight, childish yea, was a way to let your hair down and have fun, it was fun right?"

I nodded.

"Good," he grinned. "Water's great fun."

He smirked. I couldn't say anything else, his lips collided with mine again. I wrapped my arms around his neck, his arms went round my waist, bringing my body closer to his. I didn't want this moment to end. Sometimes wasting water isn't always a waste.
