Don't You Go and Carry On With Your Life

Today I was going to my second session of therapy with Alex. We hadn't seen each other since he left my house Sunday night. I texted him two days ago to see if his bruises were getting any better and he said they were a little bit. He told me he was embarrassed to go to work with the bruises but no one seemed to care after he told them what happened. I still felt guilty about him being hurt.

I walked into the waiting room outside of Dr. Pope's office and Alex was already sitting there. I wanted to kiss all over his cheek and apologize more but I didn't. I just sat next to him and looked at him apologetically.

"For the millionth time, it wasn't your fault." He chuckled.

"I'm sorry, I just wish there was something I could have done."

"You bailed me out of jail that was enough."

"You put the money back into my account." I said. I noticed the money in my bank account Monday after work.

"Yeah I wasn't going to make you pay for my mistake." He told me.

"Jack. Alex. Are you ready?" Dr. Pope asked from her door.

"Yes." We both said and walked into her office. We sat down in her couch like we did last time, but we were sitting a little bit closer.

"Oh no what happened?" She asked, when she saw Alex's bruises.

"It's nothing. Just a bar fight." He shrugged and she chuckled.

"Okay well let's get started. Do you two feel like you've made any progress since our last meeting?" She asked and pulled out her notebook.

Alex and I looked at each other, both slightly turning red. Were we supposed to tell her that we had dinner and then had sex? Dr. Pope looked up when neither of us said anything.

"Nothing? It can be anything such as spending time together with your kids, talking on the phone, or even texting." She told us.

"We um had dinner together last Friday." Alex finally said and she smiled.

"Oh good! How did that go?"

"It was um better than I thought. We just talked about our lives like you said we should." I said and she nodded.

"Do you think it helped at all?"

"I do." Alex said. "We were able to talk to each other like we used to when we were together."

"Okay, so you both went out for dinner and talked and you both enjoyed it. I would say you two are making very good progress." She told us and Alex and mumbled in agreement. We were both debating if we should tell her about us having sex. I looked at Alex while Dr. Pope wrote more notes and he looked at me.

"Should we tell her?" He mouthed to me and I shrugged. It was going to be embarrassing to tell her that we had sex.

"You do it." I mouthed back and he shook his head.

"Guys?" Dr. Pope called out and we both looked at her. "Is everything alright?" She asked.

"Mhmm." I hummed and she gave us a small smile to let us know she didn't believe that.

"Um Dr. Pope when we made that promise to always tell the truth, did that mean we have to tell you the truth too?" Alex asked and I chuckled.

"I would like for you two to be honest with me so I can help you to the best of my ability." She said politely.

Alex looked my way again and I nodded. "Okay well after Jack and I went out to eat, we went to a park . . . and had sex in the back of my car." Alex told her and my cheeks felt hot. Dr. Pope raised her eyebrows in shock and started to write in our file.

"Oh okay um let's start from the end of dinner. So you two went to a park with the intention to have sex or was it just in the spur of the moment?" She asked.

"It was spur of the moment." Alex answered and I nodded in agreement.

"Okay, this next question might be a little awkward to answer. Was there any passion or love making or was it just sex?" She asked, and Alex laughed and made me chuckled.

"I think there was some passion." Alex said and looked at me.

"Yeah, I don't think it was just sex." I agreed.

"Okay so let's talk about how you both feel about it. So Alex let's start with you." Dr. Pope said.

"Oh okay, I felt great afterwards and I still do now. I think it was kind of a way for us to tell each other how we feel about one another without using words."

"Good, and what about you Jack?" She asked me.

"I felt good afterwards too. I'm still um very attracted to Alex so it's no surprise to me that that happened. I also enjoyed dinner with Alex, he was very open and honest with me the entire time. I also found myself believing that I could trust that he wouldn't cheat on me again. Sex with Alex didn't just feel like sex, it was way more than that. It was me allowing myself to be free with him and kind of knock down a few walls I had built around myself." I explained.

"That sounds great, I'm really happy you two had this experience over the weekend. I'm going to encourage you two to spend some more time together before our next session. You don't have to have sex but if you want to then that's fine. I also want to encourage you both to make sure you're honest with one another. Sometimes when couples are reuniting they get into a phase that's almost like the honeymoon phase and it can make you lie to each other to make each other happy. Okay?"

"Okay." We both answered.

"Alright, let’s move on and do some communication exercises!" She exclaimed. We spent the remaining time with Dr. Pope practicing better communication skills. Then we thanked her when it was time for us to leave.

"Thank you." I told Dr. Pope and Alex told her bye before we walked out. We walked to the parking lot together and Alex walked me to my car.

"Where are you going?" He asked and I smiled.

"Home to feed our children." I told him.

"How about I take us all out to eat? It'll be just like old times." He said.

"Okay I'll call Kellin to make sure he and Kylie are ready."

"Cool, I'll follow you home and then I'll just drive us all there." He said and I nodded.

We both got in our car and drove to my house. I called Kellin on the way there and told him we were going out to eat with Alex. He didn't believe me at first but then he cheered and hung up to go get Kylie ready to leave the house.

When Alex and I pulled into the driveway, Kellin ran outside with Kylie. I chuckled at how eager he was for us all to spend time together. I got out of my car and went to get in the passenger seat of Alex's car. Kellin buckled Kylie into her car seat and got in also.

"So are you two back together now?" Kellin asked.

"No, not yet." Alex said making me playfully glare at him and Kellin smile.

We decided to go to a Mexican restaurant that wasn't too far away from our house. We walked in and quickly got a table for four. Kellin placed Kylie's booster seat on the same side as him so that Alex and I would have to sit next to each other.

"So how was counseling today?" Kellin asked us.

"It's was pretty good." Alex told him and I nodded in agreement.

"How many more sessions until marriage?" He asked and I playfully rolled my eyes.

"We're not there yet, buddy." Alex chuckled.

A waiter came by and placed two bowls of salsa and chips on our table for us. He also took our drink orders and we thanked him. Kylie reached for the bowl to try the salsa, but Kellin moved it away from her. It was going to burn her mouth.

"Kelly share!" She whined.

"No Kylie, it's too hot for you." He told her.

"Dad!" She cried out and Kellin rolled his eyes. "Kelly no share." She told on him.

"Kylie it's too hot for you, babe." Alex told her and she stuck out her bottom lip.

"Just let her try it before she throws a tantrum." I sighed.

Kellin broke a chip into a smaller piece and dipped it in the salsa for her. He handed her the chip and she ate it. She immediately pulled it out of her mouth and reached for her sippy cup of water.

"Hot!" She exclaimed and drunk most of her water.

"We tried to warn you." Alex told her and I chuckled.

"She's so stubborn like you." I told him and he playfully scoffed.

"I am not stubborn."

"Yeah-huh."

"Nuh-un."

"Yeah-huh."

"Nuh-un."

"Are you sure you two aren't back together cause it sounds like it." Kellin said and we chuckled.

"What are we doing this weekend?" Alex asked Kellin to change the subject. It was his weekend to have the kids.

"Aunt May is having Cholë's birthday party Saturday afternoon so I was going to go to that. You should come too." He said.

"No that isn't a good idea. I'm sure everyone still hates me." Alex said.

"It would just be really awkward." I added.

"But if you two tell everyone that you're together again then soon they'll get over it." Kellin complained.

"We're not together and Joe's going to be there. Alex already has one bruise, he doesn't need another." I said and Alex laughed.

"Ugh fine, can we all do something Saturday night? Like maybe we can have a movie night?" He suggested. Alex looked at me to see if I wanted to do that.

"Yeah I'm okay with that." I said. It sounded like a lot of fun.

"Cool, I'll go pick up snacks and a movie for us." Alex said. He moved his hand and accidentally sat it on mine. We both looked down but neither of us attempted to move our hands.

"Okay." I told him and smiled.

After dinner Alex brought us back home. He got out of his car to walk us back to the front door. I opened the door for me and the kids and Alex stopped there.

"Goodnight Dad." Kellin told him.

"Goodnight Kells. Goodnight Kyls." Alex said.

"Thanks again for dinner." I told him.

"You're welcome. Actually do you think we can talk outside for a minute?" He asked.

"Uh yeah sure." I said, confused. He had a smile on his face so I knew it wasn't anything bad. I closed the door behind us so Kellin wouldn't be able to hear us. He was probably still going to try to anyways.

"What's wro-" I was cut off by Alex placing his lips on mine. I should have known this is what he wanted to do. I giggled against his lips and kissed back. He wrapped his arms around my waist and I placed my hands on his shoulders to keep myself up to his height. We kissed for five minutes straight before I pulled apart from him.

"I don't want Kellin getting any more suspicious." I told him and he chuckled.

"Okay, I guess I'll let you go for now." He said.

I leaned back in to give him one last kiss, but it turned into another make-out session. We just couldn't pull away from each other. Alex placed his hand on my butt and pulled me closer to him so that our bodies were pressed together. I could feel how hard he was through his pants.

"Fuck, I need you." He whispered against my lips, making my body flash hot. I needed him too, but we had already been out here for too long.

"Lex, we can't." I chuckled.

"Yeah we can. My car is right there." He said and pointed to his car.

"I've already been out here for like ten minutes. Kellin is going to know something isn't right."

"Kellin probably already knows we had sex last weekend. You walked in with so many hickeys on your neck." He quietly laughed and I playfully hit him.

"Shut up."

"Come on, I'll be really quick." He said temptingly while kissing my neck. "I can feel that you want me too." He mumbled against my skin and my knees got weak.

I grabbed Alex's hand and lead him to his car. We both got in the back seat and I went to his glovebox to get the lube. He didn't let the seat back this time, I was going to get on top and ride him. Alex pulled down his jeans and boxers enough to expose himself. I handed him the lube and pulled my pants and boxers off. By the time I was finished, Alex was stroking himself with the lube. He moved his hand and I climbed into his lap. I put my legs on both sides of him and grabbed his dick to line it up with my hole. I sat back on to him and moaned.

"Fuck, you feel good." Alex told me. He gripped my hips to guide me as I lifted up and fell back down on to him.

"Unh Alex." I whimpered as I bounced up and down. I moved my hips back a little so he could press into my spot and worked. A gasped got caught in my throat. This felt so good with Alex.

"Take all of it, baby." He told me. He pushed into me as I went down. The sounds of our legs slapping together and heavy breathing filled the car. I laid my body onto Alex's and he wrapped his arms around my body and continued to thrust into me. He used his right hand to jerk my off while he plowed into me.

"I'm gonna come, Lex." I said and nibbled on his ear.

"Shit, you're gonna make me come too."

He thruster into me a few more times and I came in his hand. He stared me in the eyes as he licked it off of his fingers. I leaned over to kiss him and he moaned against my lips as he came inside of me.

"Damnit Alex!" I scolded him for the mess.

"Sorry, I couldn't pull out. You felt too amazing." He apologized and I playfully rolled my eyes.

"You're lucky you're cute." I told him and he chuckled.

I grabbed Alex's package of tissues and cleaned up as best as I could. I put my underwear and pants back on and Alex pulled his up. I looked in his rearview mirror to make sure I didn't look a complete mess before getting out. Now Alex and I had been outside for Alex thirty minutes. Kellin had to definitely know by now what we had did.

I got out of Alex's car and he walked me to his front door again. I was trying not to walk funny so I wouldn't give myself away.

"We're gonna have do that in a bed one day." Alex joked and I chuckled.

"I kind of like it in the back of your car." I said seductively.

"Do we have time for a round two?" He asked and I giggled.

"No, I already have to do explain myself to your son."

"Alright. I'll see you Saturday." He said.

"Okay, goodnight." I leaned up to kiss him and this time we kissed each other a few times before pulling away. I waved as he walked back to his car then I walked inside when he started his car.
Kellin wasn't standing by the door so I felt some relief. I walked towards my bed room and Kellin was sitting on the couch in the living room.

"That was a long conversation you two had." He teased and I sighed.

"Yeah he wanted to talk to me about our counseling sessions." I lied quickly.

"Sure if that's what you're calling it now a days." He said and my cheeks began to burn.

"I-I'm not even going to respond to that. I'm going to take a shower." I said and he chuckled.
