It was too quiet here in the home I've raised my family with Alex for fifteen plus years. He was gone with our twins to record an EP for the kids to tour on when they left with their fathers on their first big tour as an opening band. The deal stated that until one of the kids turned 18, they'd consistantly tour under All Time Low due to being minors on the road.
"Mommy," Noelle tugged on my shirt, "When are they coming home?"
I knew my youngest was missing her father and her big brother and sister. I missed them too. I knew they'd be almost done by now since they've been away for three weeks and Stella already had a lot of writing done.
"I'm not sure, Noelle. I'll be talking to Daddy tonight to get an idea on when they'll be home," I told her.
That evening, after I had put Noelle and Liam to bed, I got my long awaited phone call from Alex. I missed having him home to hold me in his arms as we basked in the glow of our love for each other and our four happy and perfect kids. But he was helping Tom and Stella as well as Jack, Nate, and Aubree work on their EP for Hopeless so they had some material to push while they toured with All Time Low in the winter.
"Hi Alex, I miss you," I greeted him.
"Jules, you will not believe what Stella asked me yesterday," Alex said. This got me worried.
"What did Stella ask," I asked him. I wanted to know what she wanted.
"She asked me for permission to have sex with Jack once she's sixteen," Alex replied. I felt my maternal anger at my daughter wanting to have sex start to boil.
"Please tell me you said no and banned her and Jack from beign alone together," I asked him.
"I told her that we'd get her on birth control and she's to make sure Jack uses a condom. She is also not to do it when I'm around," he told me.
"Alex, you should have said no without question. She's just a kid. She's fifteen. She's too young fof this Alex. She has to wait, she just started her career and relationship with Jack a few months ago. She can't do this yet. She should wait until she's 23 like I did," I told him.
"Jules, you had reasons to wait. You wanted me and you had a terrible childhood under your abusive father," he told me, "But I agree, she should wait maybe one more year. Just have her deal with the change in her life of being in a signed band and touring like I do. Maybe she'll postpone her plan with Jack until she's 17."
"Make it happen, Alex. Talk to Big and Little Jack to make sure she waits. I don't want her getting hurt and I do not want to be a grandma yet," I told him.
"I will," Alex agreed, "How's Noelle and Liam?"
"They are both doing good. Noelle is enjoying pre-school and Liam is doing well in middle school. I can see him being my honor roll student with the perfect As," I told him.
"That's good. I miss all three of you," Alex sighed,
"We miss you three too. It's so strange to only have half the family here with me. Usually, you're the only one missing at the dinner table," I told him, "But even without this opprotunity, I'd get the same feeling if they were to go to college."
"I know. I have to go though, Jules. I have to check up on Stella and her writing. I'll send you the first copy of the EP when we've finished it. I will talk to you later. I love you so very much, babe," Alex spoke sweetly to me.
"I love you too, sweetheart. I look forward to hearing the work the kids have done. Talk to you soon," I replied before we both hung up.
I miss my children and husband. I hope Stella won't do anything stupid and I know Tom will not even think about doing anything with Aubree. I know Rian will skin him alive if he tries anything that Jack might have done to Aubree. I would kill my son too; I love Aubree. She's a good girl and she's bright and very talented.
