Long Live Us

Thirty-Seven

It's been a week since the crash course our moms gave us, and Jack was driving me to my next appointment. We pulled up into the parking lot and parked in the spot next to my dad's car. Again since I am still a minor, I have to have a parent present. I just chose Dad since I did not need my mom getting overly emotional at me getting ready to have a baby.
"Stella," a nurse came to get me from the waiting room. Jack helped me stand since my damn stomach is a lot bigger now and my center of gravity has changed. Another thing I hated was I had to wear my glasses. I was just like my mom with having not-so-perfect sight, and my eyes were constantly dry and hated my contacts. But Jack thinks I look cute in my glasses so I feel a little better about it.
"Alright it seems everything is going well for you, Stella. You are very healthy and your body is handling the baby well. You've also been gaining the right amount of weight to help you carry the baby to term without any problems. You actually do not appear to be at-risk," the doctor said.
"So does this mean she could go and work," my dad asked.
"Not necessarily, Stella still needs to be careful since any sudden changes with her could affect the baby still, just try to get her from falling over and hurting herself or the baby and everything will go smoothly," he replied.
The tech came in and I was so excited to see the baby. I was really happy to see how much the baby has grown in the last few weeks and I wanted to know the gender. Jack was hoping for a girl, and I was just going to happy with us having a healthy baby. I'd love my baby regardless of it being a boy or a girl. But the idea of a baby girl wasn't so bad. I'd make sure she didn't grow up to be like me.
"And here's the little Barakat baby," tech said as the screen showed my little baby as it squirmed a little. I started feeling movements a couple days ago while Jack was out with Tom and Nate doing a guy's night and Aubree was over while I watched Noelle for my parents since I missed my little sister.
"Can you tell us the gender," Dad asked as he joined Jack from my other side to see the screen.
"Yep just hold on a sec while I find the right angle," the tech moved the wand a little and stopped when he got the angle he needed, "It's a girl. And she looks really healthy and happy in there too."
Jack smiled like a fool and my dad grinned down at me. I was about to cry I was just so happy to know that I was having a baby girl.
Jack and I got home after we made a side trip with my dad to Babies R' Us to get a registry started since I'd need to have a baby shower soon. I may be ready to take care of a baby, but I still needed everything to help me take care of her too.
"How much more scanning do we have to do," Jack whined which made me and my dad laugh.
"We nee a lot for one little baby, Jack. My doesn't have everything from when Noelle and I were babies. She sold it all once Noelle was in a big kid bed and she was handling dressing her self," I told him.
"But I know the essentials you guys will need so I can help," my dad added.
"Well I knew that was why you tagged a lot, Mr. Gaskarth," Jack replied.
"Jack, please call me Alex. When you marry Stella you better call me Dad," my dad shook his head at Jack being so formal with him.
"Cut him slack, Dad. He's wrapping his head around being a dad soon himself. He'll get used to being casual with you eventually," I told him.
I suddenly felt a strong movement from the baby that made me stop doing anything. I looked at Jack and my dad and saw them go completely pale. I knew they were worried something happened to me since I stopped everything so quickly.
"Stella, are you alright? How's the baby," Jack panicked a little.
"I'm fine and so is the baby. She just kicked me with a little more force than I'm used to," I told him.
"Wait she's been moving and you haven't told me," Jack's jaw dropped as he rested his hand on my every expanding bump.
"She started moving a little a couple days ago. I thought I had imagined it though. But now I know I'm not," I told him.
"I can't believe it! My little girl is moving," Jack kissed me quickly and smiled like a fool.
"I hope I'll be able to sleep still while she's kicking me. She's draining my batteries all the time," I told him.
I love you, baby girl. I can't wait to meet you. Please for the love of all things good, do not have a big Barakat nose, I'm sure your Grandpa Jack would feel so guilty for give you his nose. But I'll love you either way.
