My Personal Angel

“Jack, can you focus please,” I begged.

“Just go on your fucking date,” he grumbled from my bed.

“Jack, what is going on, this is so unlike you. Is there something you are not telling me?”

“No, there shouldn’t be anything harmful. Just get on your way.”

I sat down next to him and sighed. He absent mindedly put his head on my shoulder, his arms wrapped around me. I was currently getting ready for a date and he wasn’t helping me at all. I really had no idea what I was doing because I had never been on a date. I was asking Jack what to look like and what to do; he had been on several dates.

“Jack, what’s going on with you, you’re not how you normally are,” I asked.

“It’s nothing Lex, really it’s nothing.”

“Then why are you so quiet, I’m concerned.”

“Just drop it, its fine

I stared at him in shock, he never snapped at me. I stood up and threw the leather jacket on leaving my room in a rush as if to show my disapproval. I heard an apology in my mind but I shoved it away, running from my problems once again. I knew that Jack I couldn’t run away from, just by him snapping at me he confirmed my biggest fear that I really was irritating. That people were flattering me when they listened to me for hours on end.

You’re not irritating, Jack said.

Leave me alone, I retorted.

I stood outside in the brisk fall air waiting for her car to pull up. She was supposed to be here any minute and I didn’t mind the cold. I saw her car pull up and I ran to it, she was smirking at me from the driver’s seat watching my stupid run up to her. I jiggled the door handle before she unlocked it and saw she was laughing at me. We had built up quite a relationship over the past few weeks of texting nonstop.

“You were so excited that you were waiting outside,” she laughed.

“Eh, had an argument so I wanted to get out of the house. Sibling stuff you know,” I told her.

There was no way I was going to tell her about Jack, I wasn’t going to make the first girl who had a crush on me think I was crazy by going into some spiel about guardian angels and things like that. She was an understanding girl but I’m pretty sure she’d think I was crazy, it was just easier to use family as an excuse, I did that a lot anyway when I was being lazy.

Sibling, he questioned, his voice wavering.

Leave it, I said shortly.

The tremble in Jack’s voice as he asked that bothered me, why did he care what I called him? I mean I could call him a figment of my imagination and honestly I believe that is truer than anything else right now. I could just be hallucinating and that made a lot of sense, I was seeing something that wasn’t real and it was just giving me the advice that I needed to hear but won’t hear from myself. That explains why I thought up Jack so that someone else was giving me the advice my subconscious knew that I needed. I finally cracked the code.

I’m real dude, I promise. If you want I can prove it later.

You’re really bad at staying out of my head.

Sorry Lex, I got nowhere else to go. You need to talk to her by the way the silence in this car is super awkward which isn’t a good first impression.

So I did just that until we got to the restaurant. She had a great personality and was really funny and witty which was just perfect. I absolutely adored her for her personality but she was absolutely beautiful as well. Her smile was more perfect than words can describe. I really needed to thank Jack for helping us get together by making me give a shit.

Notes

This was supposed to be out on Sunday but instead it's coming out at like midnight on Tuesday because of some personal stuff. I go on fall break on Friday though which is super excited and I've been working a lot on a possibility which is super exciting. I really hope y'all enjoy this update it's not really my favorite but I wanted to put something out there.
