The Reckless and the Misbehaved

Wounds Can Bring Us Together

Blaire’s POV
My blonde hair is in a fishtail braid over my shoulder and I’m wearing black skinny jeans and a white tank top which I’ve complimented with some long necklaces. I’m wearing my black combat boots as well. I look in the mirror and I want to tear my clothes off and burn them. I want to destroy everything about myself—my hair, my face, my wardrobe—and start over. I don’t know why I even tried to dress up. I’m just going to get some film from All Time Low and to be honest, I have no clue why their opinion matters to me, but it does. Especially Alex’s. If I could get a compliment out of Alex Gaskarth, that would double my self confidence. He was egotistical and rude, but I was desperate for his approval. The thing I hate most about myself is that I hate myself. Sure, Alex had hit on me yesterday, but that was in a creepy way. Besides, I’m sure he’ll fuck anything that moves. I grab my camera and shove it in my bag before walking off to Alex’s house. The entire walk there I anxiously fix my hair. When I arrive at his house, I take three deep breaths to calm myself before finally knocking on the door. It swings open almost immediately. Alex Gaskarth is dressed in green skinny jeans and a white T-Shirt. His hair looks perfectly messy, which I find gorgeous. I open my mouth slightly with intentions to say something, but I have no clue what.
“H-hi.” I managed. Alex gave me a smug smile and gestured for me to come in.
“Hi, beautiful,” Alex winked at me and I looked away, blushing ridiculously. That was a compliment, sure, but not the kind I wanted. He was just shocked that I rejected him yesterday and needed to remunerate it, “Ready to make the best film of your life?” I didn’t answer verbally, but instead nodded timidly. I was saved from having to respond with words by Rian and Zack, who were sitting in the living room.
“Hey!” Rian said. He had always been kind. “It’s Blaire, right?” Rian smiled brightly. I wondered if he remembered me from school, or if Alex just told him a girl named Blaire was coming over.
“Yeah.” I said. Rian came up to me and gave me a hug. I hugged back awkwardly. I never thought we were that good of friends. Maybe he was just an incredibly friendly person.
“You look amazing, by the way.” Rian said, “Combat boots are complete badass.” I gave Rian a smile and I actually had confidence in the response I was about to give, but I was interrupted.
“Where the fuck are you? Can’t you be on time for a damn thing? I said to be here at noon. That doesn’t mean fucking one o’clock. And can you at least answer your god damn phone? I’m really fucking tired of your shit, man.” Alex was screaming into his phone. He slammed it shut frustrated and I gave him a nervous look.
“Jack.” Alex said simply. As if that compensated for his temper tantrum. “Do you want to start without him?” I shook my head.
“I want to start the film with all of you guys together.” I said. I might have a tendency to be timid, but when it comes to my films, I call the shots.
“Fine.” Alex sounded defeated. “I’m going to go make some pizza rolls.” Alex turned and walked to the kitchen.
“Sorry about him.” Rian said, “He can be a dick. He’s better once you get to know him.” I highly doubted that, but I attempted to look comforted. I did appreciate the effort from Rian. He was pretty easy to talk to. We were comparing our favorite video games when we heard a scream from the kitchen. Zack, Rian and I all ran to the next room. Alex had burned his hand taking the pizza rolls out of the oven. It was blistering at a rapid speed.
“Dumbass.” Zack muttered, rolling his eyes.
“I’ll get a band-aid.” Rian offered. He glanced at Alex’s hand. “Or a few band-aids.” I shook my head.
“Band-Aids cut off air. It’ll just make the burn worse.” I led Alex over to the faucet and turned on cool water, running it over his hand. “Do you have any acetaminophen?” I asked Alex, who was cringing in pain. For a regular kitchen burn it has covered a lot of space on his hand.
“I have ibuprofen.” Alex suggested, “It’s in the medicine cabinet.”
“That’ll work.” I said. Rian grabbed it along with a glass of water and gave it to Alex. “Is there any gauze in there?” I asked Rian. He tossed me some and I wrapped it securely around Alex’s hand. Alex looked into my eyes for the first time. His brown eyes were wide and innocent.
“Thank you.” Alex said. I gave him a small smile. A genuine thank you was much better than a pickup line to get me naked, so matter how flattering the line was.
“You’re welcome.”

Notes

That was awful and boring, I know. But I'll try to liven it up next time! Long live you guys!
