Everyone cheered as they took another shot. It was their third one of the hour, and people were starting to feel the effects. Jack kept by Megan the whole time and made sure he paid for all of her drinks. Everytime Jack bought her a drink, Meg felt her stomach fill with butterflies. The butterflies in her stomach were slowly building. Jack was being so sweet, how could any girl not love that?

Megan felt her phone vibrate, so she pulled out her cell phone. It was a text from Ally.

-Hey McKenzie Mania breakfast is at 8 tomorrow. Everyone's really excited to see you

Meg looked at the time on her phone. 12:15. "SHIT!" Meg exclaimed when she saw the time.

"What? Are you ok?" Jack asked with worry in his eyes.

"It's really late." Meg said gathering her various things lying on the table and getting up from the table. "Bye guys, it was really nice to meet you. I'm sorry but I really have to go."

"Bye!" all the guys said in unison, everyone but Jack.

Meg ran out the door, not realizing Jack was at her heels. Even though it was midnight, the city was as lively as ever. As Meg ran towards the subway, Jack was sprinting to catch up with her. Damn she ran fast.

"WAIT! MEG!" Jack yelled out down the street.

Megan slowed down and turned around to see Jack sprinting to catch up with her. "What, Jack?"

Jack finally caught up with Meg, and was completely out of breath. At that moment he made a mental note to go with Zack to the gym more often. "Why... are you... leaving?"

Meg was laughing at how out of shape Jack was. "I'm going to miss the last train back home. I still need to take the subway all the way back to Penn."

Jack was instantly upset when he heard Megan say that she was leaving. "What? But... At least let me walk you back to the train."
"Fine, but we'll be running. You up for it buddy?" Meg looked up and winked.

"Race ya!" Jack yelled and raced down the stairs to the subway, even though he had no clue where he was going. Being the lanky, awkward man he was, Jack almost tripped running down the stairs and ran right into a wall.

"You're so drunk!" Meg said as she bound down the stairs. "Come on!" Meg grabbed Jack's hand and ran towards the platform.

Jack was stumbling the whole time while he ran with Megan. What was it about her? Their hands fit perfectly together, and she had the softest hands.

"Come on!" Meg yelled, snapping Jack away from his thoughts, and she dragged him into one of the subway cars?

"Here," Jack said handing Megan a five dollar bill.

"What's this for?" Megan asked staring at the money with a puzzling look.

"The subway fair." Jack said with a smile.

"You don't-"

"Yes I do. I insist." Jack said, sticking the bill in Meg's purse. "So why the rush home?"

Megan and Jack were completely alone in the car. "The last train leaves in ten minutes."

"What the fuck? This is the city that never sleeps! Why the hell do trains stop at 12?" Jack was mad only because he wouldn't be able to spend the rest of the night with Megan. "The hell! If you missed the train you could just stay on the bus or we'd get you a hotel room."

"You don't have to! I have to go somewhere tomorrow anyway." Meg said, she was really flattered that Jack cared so much about her, but a hotel room? He's going way out of his way, and Megan felt so bad making him do that.

"What? You have plans tomorrow?" Jack was really upset, he'd been rehearsing in his head how he'd ask out Megan all night.

"Uh... Yeah. My friend invited me to her family reunion. Why?" Meg said a little awkwardly, because why did Jack care about what she was doing tomorrow? He'd be back on the road, miles away from Long Island.

"Well..." God Jack was nervous. He started rubbing his neck nervously. "I was wondering if... Maybe we could... Would you like to-"

BING

Jack was cutoff by the subway bell and the doors opening. Jack got up to walk out the door when Megan pulled on his hand to sit back down. Jack had a confused and embarrassed look on his face.

"Next stop," Megan said with a twinkle in her eye that jack noticed all night.

"Oh," Jack said, completely embarrassed.

"What were you saying before?" Megan asked, even though she knew he was trying to ask her out. She just wanted to hear him ask.

"Well, the band has off tomorrow... And I was wondering if you'd like to go out to lunch with me. Like just us." Jack felt like his cheeks were on fire and Megan with that amazing smile was making him even more nervous.

"Really? You'd want to spend your day off in the best city with me?" Meg wasn't used to people blowing off plans to be with her, and she felt bad that Jack was canceling all his plans.

"Best city? That's Baltimore!! And... yeah. But since you have plans..." Jack really wanted to be with Meg tomorrow, but he knew his chances weren't good. She already had plans and it was such late notice.

"Well... I do have a busy schedule.." Meg was joking, but Jack didn't pick up on it because when she said that Jack looked like a kicked puppy. When Meg noticed Jack's sad look she immediately said, "Oh my gosh, I totally fucking kidding! I'd be honored to spend the day with Jack Barakat the Great."

"Really? You'd cancel your plans for me?" Jack was surprised when Meg actually agreed to go on a date with him. He had a grin that stretched from ear to ear and was squealing like a little girl on the inside.

The subway doors opened and Meg sprinted out the door, dragging Jack by the hand with her. They both ran to the platform and the train was already there. The big clock on the tiled walls said 12:29, only one minute until the train left.

"Thank you, Jack! Have Alex give you my number, and text me so we can make plans." Megan was talking a million miles an hour, because she was in a real rush. Before leaving Meg went on her toes and pecked Jack on the cheek, then ran into the train. As soon as Megan walked through the doors, they slid closed before Jack say or do anything.
