We've Got Unfinished Business

A month later

Today was Jack's eighteenth birthday. I went back to New York for a couple of weeks, but I was back in Baltimore today for his birthday. Of course he didn't know it. I had Face Timed him earlier to convince him that I was still in New York and wouldn't be able to come back to Baltimore to spend the day with him. I almost told him the truth because he was so upset that 'I wouldn't make it.'

Jack dropped Aubrey off at my parents’ house last night. His mom had to work so my parents kept her while he and Kellin went out. I went to pick her up and took her over Vic and Mike's house with me. We were having a party tonight for Jack and I wanted to spend time with Aubrey while we set up. That probably wasn't the smartest idea because she wanted my attention twenty-four/seven.

"Kellin said he and some friends are going to take Jack out to eat and then he's going to bring him here later on tonight." Vic read from his phone.

"Cool, make sure he texts you when he's on his way so I can hide." I said and he nodded and texted Kellin back.

I had a big box that Cass helped me decorate in wrapping paper and I was going to hide in it and let Jack open it. Rian, Zack, and Cass all came with me to help celebrate his birthday tonight. Cass was doing her best to distract Aubrey from me, but it wasn't working. Aubrey was crying and trying to get me to take her from Cass.

"A few months ago you didn't even like me." I jokingly complained as I picked Aubrey up. She hummed and laid her head on my shoulder.

"Aww she loves you now." Cass chuckled.

I tried to do as much as I could while holding Aubrey. The most I could do was tell them if the birthday banner was too high and move the balloons around. Mike accidentally stepped on one balloon and popped it and scared Aubrey half way to death. She started to cry from the loud noise startling her.

"Oh no I'm so sorry!" Mike said, running over to her side.

"Aubrey it was just a balloon. Nothing's going to get you." I said and kissed her on the cheek. She sniffled and laid her head back down on my shoulder. She was starting to understand more words every day now since she was ten months.

We finished decorating two hours before Kellin was supposed to be bringing Jack. I needed to take Aubrey back to my parents, take a shower, and get dressed.

"I'll be back, I'm going to take Aubrey to my parents really quick." I announced.

"I'll go with you." Vic said. He crossed through the living room and accidentally stepped on a balloon causing it to pop. Aubrey went back to crying from fear.

"Goddamn it Vic." I mumbled and he laughed.

"Sorry."

We walked out to my dad's car I was borrowing while in town and I strapped Aubrey in. Then I drove us in the direction of my parents’ house.

"Hey quick question." Vic said and I nodded telling him I was listening. "How did you get Jack to agree to move to New York with you?" He asked.

"I just asked him and he thought about it for a few minutes before saying yes. Why?"

"The guys and I were talking about moving to San Diego at the end of the year and I've been thinking about asking Kellin to go with me."

"Seriously? Do you think he would go off that far? That's really far away." I said.

"I know, that's why I'm scared to ask him. I'm afraid he'll say no and then we won't be able to make a long distance relationship work."

"Dude just ask him anyway. You never know, maybe he wants to go anywhere if that means he's with you."

"That sounds nice as hell. I'm going to take him out to dinner tomorrow and ask him." He said.

"I hope he says yes, Jack's going to be super heartbroken though." I said and he chuckled.

"Come to San Diego then."

"I barely got Jack to agree to New York, there's no way he would move to California." I shook my head. "That does sound like a great place to live though. Plus Interscope has a record label there too." I thought out loud.

"That's proof that you need to move there."

"Eh not anytime soon." I shrugged.

We finished the drive to my parents and I gave Aubrey, who had fallen asleep, to my mom. I quickly said hi and bye to her and my dad and went back to the car with Vic. Then I drove us back to his house.

I only had an hour left when we made it back. I used that time to shower and dress nicely for Jack's party. Later Vic announced that Kellin had said they were five minutes away.

"Can someone help me into this box?" I asked.

"Yeah I got it." Zack said and walked over. He easily picked me up enough for me to hop one leg at a time into the box.

"This looks so obvious. He's going to know you're in there." Rian chuckled.

"Nah he'll probably think it's like a giant teddy bear or something." I said.

"No I'm with Rian, this is all super obvious. Why would Rian and Zack be here without you?" Mike added.

". . . Okay I didn't think this plan out thoroughly." I admitted and everyone laughed.

We saw Kellin's headlights as he parked near the house. I ducked down so Cass could place the top of the box on me. Now I just had to wait for him to pull the top off. I began to hear shuffling and then the door being opened.

"Surprise!" Everyone yelled at once.

"Oh my god!" Jack exclaimed.

I heard laughter and cheers as he walked further into the house. They took footsteps closer to the box I was in.

"Alex couldn't be here tonight, but he sent you this present." Zack told Jack.

"If he jumps out of this box I might die so please be prepared for that." Jack said and I covered my mouth to keep from laughing out loud. He placed his hands on the lid and as he pulled it up I jumped up.

"Surprise!!" I shouted and he gasped. "Happy Birthday Jack!"

"Alex!" He yelled and hugged me. "You lied to me." He chuckled.

"I know, but I really wanted to surprise you."

"Well you did. I honestly thought you weren't going to make it." He kissed me. When we pulled away I saw three girls staring at us in shock. They were probably Jack's friends from high school.

"Introduce me to your friends." I told him as I used Zack to get out of the box. I followed him to the girls that continued to stare.

"Guys this is Alex and Alex these two are my friends Jenna and Lynn and this basically my step-sister and Avery’s daughter Angie."

"Hi it's nice to meet you all." I waved.

"I'm sorry we're all just kind of star struck right now. I didn't think Jack was serious when he said that he was dating you." I think it was Lynn who said that. Jack was speaking way too fast for me to keep up with who was who.

"Yeah it's true, he stole my heart." I said, trying to be sappy on purpose and they awed.

"He's so full of it." Jack rolled his eyes and I laughed.

"Do you guys mind if I borrow him for a second?" I asked the girls and they all said no they didn’t mind.

I grabbed Jack's hand and brought him to the kitchen with me. I wanted him to have the best birthday that he wouldn't remember because of all the alcohol. When we walked in I noticed he was wear a black sash that said 'The Birthday Bitch' in silver letters.

"Where on Gods Earth did you get that thing?" I laughed.

"Angie bought it for me. Do you like it?" He chuckled.

"Sure Birthday Bitch. Here drink up!" I handed him a cup of the alcoholic punch we made. He playfully glared at me as he took the cup from me.

"Oh my gosh you're finally legal, now you two don't have to sneak around anymore!" Kellin exclaimed as he walked into the kitchen.

"Yeah it's amazing and in a few more weeks we'll be living together." Jack said and kissed me.

"Ugh you're so lucky. You'll be free to do whatever you want." Kellin complained.

"You and Vic will...I mean I hope you and Vic will do the same sometime soon." I quickly corrected myself. I almost told Kellin that Vic was going to ask him to move in later.

"Yeah hopefully." He sighed. He made himself a cup of punch and went back into the living room with everyone else.

“Oh yeah that reminds me, let’s take a picture.” I told Jack.

“Why?” He said suspiciously.

“So I can post it online and finally let everyone know that you’re all mine.” I said and he chuckled.

“How about we do that tomorrow? I’d rather not have a million tweets coming my way right now.” He said and I nodded. I was probably going to take the picture while he was super drunk and post it tomorrow just to make him mad.

"I love you." I told Jack and pulled him by his hips closer to me.

"I love you too." He giggled.

I leant down and pulled his face to mine so we could make out. It quickly turned from a normal make out session to an I-need-you-now session. He put his hand under my shirt and started rubbing all over my stomach. I pushed him against the counter and tried my best not to rip his clothes off right here.

"The things I could legally do to you right now." I whispered in his ears and his knees went weak.

"Lex please. Anyone can walk in on is right now." He mumbled and I made my way down his jaw to his neck. He tilted his head and allowed me to kiss, bite, and lick all over it. I began to rub my hard-on against his leg so he would know how turned on I was.

We heard someone clear their throat and quickly pulled apart from each other. It was Vic and he had his hands on his hips.

"I would appreciate if you two didn't fuck on my kitchen counter." He said and laughed.

"You're one to talk, what about all those times you and Kellin have had sex in our old guest room." I joked.

"That's different. We at least we're in a room not out in the open for everyone to see."

"Fine Jack let's go find a room." I said and he blushed.

"Jack can't sneak off to have sex with you, it's his party he has to go enjoy it with everybody." Vic said.

"He's right. We can do this later on." Jack said and Vic laughed. I glared at Vic for cock-blocking me and he flipped me off before walking away.

"You promise?" I pouted and he chuckled.

"Yes Lex. You act like we won't be free to have sex whenever we want next month."

"Yeah that’s true." I kissed him again.

He shook his head at me and grabbed my hand so we could go enjoy the rest of his party together.

This is more of a filler chapter to show that Jack finally turned 18! Next chapter is the last chapter and then I'll post the epilogue to the story. It's going to break my heart when this story ends!!
