Alex

“You couldn’t be anymore more late?” Jack teased at Alex once he saw him. Jack seemed to be pacing worriedly, thinking maybe Alex stood him up.

“Flight number 5245 from Baltimore to Ohio is about to depart in 5 minutes, all passengers scheduled for this flight must now go to the gates immediately.”

“We need to get both of our asses at our plane or we’re gonna miss our flight!” Jack said, his joking tone taking for a serious turn.

Alex nodded at Jack then signaled him to lead the way. They passed security and got into their flight. Once seated they both awkwardly shifted, both not knowing what to do.

Jack coughed and said, “Nervous?”

Alex just laughed shakily and looked the other way, but Jack is more persistent than Alex thought. Jack insistently tapped Alex’s shoulder.

“Alex, don’t be nervous you’re gonna be fine. Uh your soon to be colleagues will love you.” Jack said with a soft tone.

Alex finally looked at Jack with scared eyes. “I still don’t know Jack, how could you have picked me? I’m not even attractive in the slightest! They will hate me.”

Jack felt sad that Alex thought so lowly of himself, he maybe a huge criminal but he still has a heart buried deep inside his chest. Jack almost doesn’t want to send Alex to that terrible place, so he might as well comfort Alex to ease his mind before the horror happens.

“Alex you’re gonna do great! Have some faith in yourself.” Jack said, feigning excitement.

Alex just smiled weakly at Jack and turned his back on him, closing his eyes for a restless, but much needed sleep.

Alex woke up with someone shaking him, unrelentingly calling out his name.

“Alex, Alex wake up, we’re about to leave!”

Alex woke up suddenly, nerves engulfing his whole body. “Oh okay.”

Jack looked weirdly at him, but thankfully decided to not question it. Once the plane landed, they picked up their things, and a guy wearing a button-up was waiting for them with a banner saying “Mr. Barakat.”

“You have a chaperone?” Alex asked curiously.

“Well I am filthy rich. I wouldn’t know what to do with my money so why not waste it?” Jack said nonchalantly.

The “chaperone guy” greeted Jack and Alex, then took all of their bags carrying them. He also opened the door for Jack and Alex once they arrived at the car, and closed it when they got inside.

“Jack when we get there, will I be interviewed?” Alex asked nervously.

“Oh I’ll explain to everything once we get there.” Jack said curtly.

Alex was surprised by the shift of Jack’s mood, but shrugged it off. They both sat in silence for minutes then the car stopped in front of a skyscraper. Alex nerves almost eating Alex whole, he looked at Jack for guidance, but Jack just ignored him and got out of the car. Alex followed him quietly, not even daring to talk to Jack at the moment.

They entered the skyscraper and got inside the elevator Jack pushing the button for the highest floor. When they arrived Jack faced Alex with a stoic expression.

“Alex I’m going to call my secretary Ms. Carson. She’ll fill you up over everything you need to know, because I have an urgent meeting.”

Jack disappeared into a modern double door, seconds after a beautiful, female red-head with glasses comes out of the double doors. The unnamed red-head strides to Alex’s direction with a smile. Upon reaching him, she said,

“Good Morning Mr. Alex uhh..”

“Gaskarth.” Alex answered.

“Right, right. Mr. Gaskarth I’m Jack’s secretary Stella Carson, before we talk about business and such, would you like some kind of beverage? Wine? Juice? You certainly must be parched from your flight.”

“Water is fine please.”

“Okay, I’ll get your water. You can take a seat over there if you’d like, I won’t be long” Stella walked away, going to god knows where, while Alex sat with fidgeting hands. Stella wasn’t long, she came back with a glass of water, and gave it to Alex’s awaiting hands. Alex was thankful for the water, because he doesn’t think that he can talk with his throat this dry.

The effects on Alex we’re almost instant since he gulped down the whole glass, he was feeling wooziness, confusion, and dizziness. In panic, Alex stood up immediately but he lost balance, and he fell to the ground, he tried to sit up but his limbs felt too heavy, he felt like throwing up, and he was also sweating a river. His eyes felt heavy and he fluttered them once, twice, thrice.

Then he eventually passed out.

Well here it is. I also hate cliffhangers once I receive the end of it, but I absolutely love it when I'm the one who's giving them, so yeah ... I'm a sole hypocrite.
