Chapter 7

“Lisa? What are you doing here?” Alex and Eve said in unison.
“Wouldn’t you like to know.”

Alex and Eve stared at Lisa waiting for an explanation. Alex more than Eve because, in all honesty, Lisa scared Eve. Lisa bullied Eve heavily in elementary school. It got worse when Alex and her began dating in junior high because every chance she got Lisa would rub in the fact that she had Alex who was talking to her every day to Eve who she knew he hadn’t spoken to since the summer before they went off to their respective schools.

Eve was extremely relieved when Lisa moved to California with her family. She finally felt safe at school because she knew there was no Lisa to hurt her at seemingly every corner she turned there. So her being back scared the ever living shit out of Eve.

“Lisa what do you want? You’re obviously back in Maryland for a reason.” Alex said, not even attempting to hide the anger in his tone.

“You’re right Lexy. I am back for a reason. The reason being I want to finish high school in my hometown. It took a lot of convincing but mom and dad let me move in with my aunt and uncle to finish out the year.” Lisa replied in a sickly sweet tone that had Eve inwardly trembling.

Alex glared at Lisa with pure hatred. What Eve never knew is that when him and Lisa were dating he found out that she had bullied and was(at the time)actively bullying Eve. He broke things off as soon as he found out. Although Alex and Eve weren’t in contact at that time, he still cared for deeply.

“Let’s go Evie. I don’t want to associate with her more than I absolutely have to.” Alex said ensuring Lisa could hear him.

They walked out of the diner and Eve threw the keys back to Alex. He looked at her curiously but she shrugged it off. Seeing Lisa had always dampened her mood, and learning that she’s not only back but back for the rest of the year had her really upset. Alex kept giving Eve concerned glances before he pulled into the parking lot of a park near the school.

“Okay, what’s wrong?” Alex said.

“Nothing. I’m fine.” Eve said trying to blow it of.

“Bullshit, Eve. I know you better than you know yourself and can tell when something’s bothering you. Now what is it?” Eve groaned, hating the fact that Alex knew her so well.

“It’s Lisa. She made my life hell in middle school. When she moved I thought I was finally free of her but she always comes back to haunt me. What makes it worse is that you never knew.”

“You’re wrong, Eve. I did know. Well not at first, but I broke up with her when I found out. Why do you think I hate her so much?”

“I never thought about that.”

“I know.”

“How have I survived without you Lex?”

“Not sure. All I know is that I’ve missed you a fuck ton Evie, and that I feel like shit for letting us fall out. I would have gotten back in touch when I started high school at Dulaney with you but you looked like you were doing just fine without me.”

“Are you kidding me? I was miserable. I only had Dakota freshman year and I was a shell of the girl I used to be. Even though Lisa had moved I was still scared that I’d turn a corner and she’d somehow be there. I needed you Lex, then more than ever.”

“I realize that now. Please please forgive me?” Alex gave her his best puppy dog eyes.

“I already have. You’re too hard to stay mad at. Especially when you give me the puppy dog eyes. It’s too cute to resist.”

“I’m well aware. Why do you think I always use them when you’re mad at me?”

“Because you’re a manipulative shithead?” Eve laughed.

“Have I ever told you that I love your laugh because I love your laugh” Eve blushed at the compliment, wishing deep down that it meant more than she knew it did. Or at least thought she knew.

As Alex pulled out of the parking lot and resumed their drive back to school Eve stared at him wistfully. Imagining them together and wishing that the flirting was real and that he was as in love with her as she was with him. Not realizing that she was just as clueless of his feelings for her as he was her feelings for him.

Notes

I want to make one thing clear: I absolutely love Lisa so much and mean no harm whatsoever by writing her the way I am. This story is purely fiction with some realistic elements, those being the boys, Lisa, the band, and the songs the band has produced.

Anyway there's a little backstory on why Eve and Alex haven't spoken. And a cute little moment with them in attempt to make up for how long it's been.

Anyway thoughts on the chapter? Write them down in the comments

Yay, an update! :D
Haha, I always find it funny with the disclaimers in the author's note. XD A lot of people make sure to do that. So no worries girl, you're not the first person to do this particular aspect in your story and feel differently. :P
It was sweet how Alex knew to get out of there and stood by Eve's side. <3
And aww... the star-crossed love. :'( I hope they realize things soon, I imagine it'll be so cute when they finally get together. :D Because they're so cute now, so... yeah. :)
Great job with the update! Hope to see more soon. :)

lol, was thrown for a bit of a loop when I saw that this was updated. XD But glad to see you're back! I am still here reading if this continues. :)
Hmm... Alex just needs to work up the nerve to ask Eve to be his. That probably won't happen for a while though, sigh. :/
Interested in seeing what happens next!
