Knots in the Ties
First Battle
Luna ushered us into the car with Jack and I in the back seat. She made sure to put all the bags in the passenger seat incase something was to happen on our way to the safe house. She even made sure to keep certain potions on the top of the pile as well.
“I can’t believe this is happening,” I said under my breath.
“Believe it,” Luna told me. I didn’t think had heard me. “My ears are trained to even hear a mouse, so yes, I was able to hear you. Of course, it helps when I can read your mind. Your’s is easier to read than Jack’s.”
“Why’s that?”
“Because I’m your guardian. Remember?”
“Yeah.” I looked over at Jack who had his head down. “What’s wrong? You haven’t said anything since before she told us what was happening.” He looked away. “Did I do something wrong?”
Jack shook his head before finally looking back at me. “I-I’m scared.”
I pulled him into me and wrapped my arms around him. “Don’t be scared. We have each other.”
“B-But what if we get separated somehow? What if we don’t make it? What if the darkness takes over?”
“You don’t have to worry,” Luna reassured him. “We’re going to protect you with our lives. There is no way that we are letting the darkness take over.”
Out of nowhere, the car was knocked over by some strong magick force. I saw a grey light surround us before I closed my eyes as the car began to roll. My arms held Jack tightly, and his did the same to me. I was expecting pain, but it never came. Hell, I couldn’t even feel myself being upside down either. When I opened my eyes, the same light was still there for a second. What was that?
“Are you guys ok?” Luna asked as she turned around to look at us.
“Did you do that?” I questioned her.
She nodded. “I made a force field as soon as I felt that bolt of energy hit the car.”
I looked out the window to find some kind of creature. It had bat-like wings, a long slimy tongue, a tail like a snake, and a giant red body. “What’s that?” I knew what it was, but I couldn’t believe it.
“Demon.”
With that, she opened the door and got out. Was she really going to face this beast by herself? It was twice her height! I wanted to help her, but I couldn’t. I may have had some kind of powers, but I didn’t know how to activate them and use them. Besides, Jack was shaking from the fear. My main priority was to keep him safe. I may not have wanted Luna to die, but Jack did mean more than her. He was my love and just as defenseless as me if not more.
“Hand over the darkness.” the demon spoke in a low and demonic voice. It was really hard to describe. Of course, none of that mattered because he just ordered Luna to hand over me. I held on to Jack more if that was possible without hurting him.
“You’ll have to go through me,” Luna told him. She was so confident. “I am his guardian, and I will not let you get our grimy hands on him.”
“Have it your way.”
The demon came charging after her, but she just jumped high in the air. The demon had just a second to glance at her before she was coming down with a grey grey energy with black and white streaks in her hand. This energy hit the demon square in the head. As soon as her the energy had hit, she did a backflip away from him. I could see the blood coming out of his wound, but he wasn’t down just yet.
Somehow, his tongue stretched out and grabbed her. She struggled, but the demon was already throwing her high up in the air. How was she going to survive that? That was when I noticed the smile on her face. How could she be smiling at a time like this? Unless...
“Taste my magick, you demon!” A glowing grey, black, and white sword appeared in her hand. As she came down, she slashed the demon’s tongue off. A shriek escaped the beast that made Jack and I cover our ears. As I continued to look out the window, I saw the blood spewing from his wound. “Didn’t your mother ever tell you to not like your sword clean? You might cut your tongue. Of course, it’s not going to matter now.” With one clean cut, the head of the demon fell to the ground before the knees of the monster came down and then the rest. Luna looked over at us. “Get out of the car. We need to get there another way besides roads.”
Jack and I got out with our arms still around each other. Then I realized something. “Hey Luna.”
“Yeah?”
“How come no one saw you take down that demon or us wreck?” When I had gotten out of the car, I had seen people walking around on the sidewalk. I didn’t even understand how they weren’t even looking at us now.
“We’re invisible. I cast a spell when we left the house and kept it up the entire time. The demon had one on too. Only other beings with powers could see through the spell.”
“Oh.”
“Is he alright?” She pointed to Jack.
I shrugged. “Are you alright, baby?” He nodded slowly. “This is all new to us. He’s never seen anything like this, and just the fact that this is all really happening is kinda frightening.”
“Then why aren’t you scared?”
“I don’t know.”
“Well, it’s not like it matters. Besides, we need to get going now. Go grab some of the bags out of the car as I get rid of this body.”
I took Jack and started grabbing bags with him. When I went to grab another, I looked through the other side of the car to see what Luna was doing. Of course, I didn’t have to look to see what she was doing. Luna was singing this sad tune in an ancient tongue. I didn’t understand how, but I understood part of it. She was singing about how this demon was once with her, and he had been taken over with darkness against his will. I didn’t want to disturb her, so I decided that I would ask about all this later.
“I can’t believe this is happening,” I said under my breath.

@JagkBaraSlut
I might. I'm busy right now with school which is why all of my stories are really late. I don't like the fact that I didn't finish the sequel, but I want to rewrite this. I'll put this with the other stories that I want to write for the summer.
