What's My Age Again?

"Wait I'm not ready!" Kellin exclaimed as he got comfortable on my bed and opened his bag of chips. "Okay I'm ready now."

I was about to tell him how my date with Alex went. He came over the next afternoon demanding I tell him every detail of our date.

"Well first he came to pick me up in his car and he drove us to the restaurant. Then we talked a little while we waited on our food-"

"-talked about what?" He asked.

"Um I think we talked about his fans on Twitter and how they used to act with his exes. Then he asked about my exes and I told him that I didn't have any which really caught him off guard." I said and Kellin chuckled. "Then my mom walked in with her date and-"

"Wait wait wait your mom literally walked in the same restaurant you and Alex were at?!?"

"Yeah I thought my life was over."

"Dude you dodged like the biggest bullet. Your mom could have saw you and we both would have died that night."

"I know, but luckily she didn't see me. And it turns out that the guy that she went on a date with is Alex's old Doctor." I told him and his eyes widen.

"We're going to have to start being very careful."

"Yeah I know. So what did you and Vic do last night?"

"We went to see Star Wars and then he took me to get ice cream." He told me.

"Oh that sounds like a pretty normal date." I said.

"Yeah it was a great night that ended in intense sex." He laughed as I rolled my eyes at him. "How did you and Alex end the night? Did he come in?" He asked.

"No he just walked me to my door and we kissed, then he left."

"Aw that sounds so sweet and innocent." He gushed.

"Yeah anything sounds innocent compared to you and Vic having 'intense sex.'" I scoffed and he laughed again.

I sat down next to him and pulled out my phone. We were probably going to spend the next few hours on our phones showing each other funny things we saw on Twitter and Tumblr. This is how we always spent our weekend mornings/afternoons with each other. I heard someone come in the front door downstairs. It was most likely May.

"Hey guys!" She said to us when she reached my room.

"Hey May." We both said back.

"What movie did you guys go see last night?" She asked us and I let Kellin do the talking. I felt like if I told May about Alex she would promise not to tell mom, but then she would overthink the situation and do it anyways. It was just best Kellin and I kept this secret to ourselves.

"Star Wars! It was really good. Have you seen it yet?" He asked her.

"No I'm going tonight to see it with someone." She smiled.

"Like a date? Tell us! Who is he?" Kellin asked eagerly. I could live without hearing about my sister’s love life.

"Well we met a few weeks ago at a bar. He's really sweet and very sexy." She chimed.

"Is it going to be you twos first date?" He asked.

"Yeah we were supposed to hang out Halloween night, but my friends dragged me to another party."
"Well I hope you have fun tonight." He told her.

"Thanks! Me too, hopefully I won't be too nervous." She chuckled and left my room.

"Everyone is starting to find someone. I think I'm going to sign my mom up for a dating website so she can find someone too." He joked.

"Just let her find someone on her own. I bet the people on that website are creeps or are only looking for sex." I said.

"Yeah you're probably right. Maybe she'll find a doctor like your mom. You better hope your mom marries him so you guys can be super rich." He said and I rolled my eyes at him.

"I don't want my mom to marry anyone." I complained and leaned back in my bed. I was prepared to lay in my pajamas all day and do nothing.

"Whatever, but anyways last night Vic said everyone is going to Mike's and his for movie night tonight. You wanna go?" Kellin asked. I don't know why he asked me, he wasn't going to accept any answer other than yes.

"Yeah, but our curfew is midnight. Do you think we'll be back before then?" I asked.

"Yeah of course. Vic said it starts at nine so three hours should be more than enough time." He told me. "Plus our moms work tonight so we'll be fine."

"Yeah that's true." I still wanted to ask if it was okay for me to be out tonight. We got lucky that our moms almost always worked weekends, but I did sometimes feel guilty about sneaking out. "What movie are we watching?"

"The new remake of Poltergeist. Have you seen it before?" He asked.

"I think I remember seeing previews for it but we never went to see it." I said.

"Well it's a scary movie so you can cuddle into Alex's side the entire time." He teased.

"I hate scary movies." I sighed.

"I know." He pinched my cheek.

We laid back in my bed doing what we were doing before. Kellin didn't seem fazed by our plans for tonight because he and Vic were already a couple. I was happy that I would be spending two nights in a row with Alex.

My phone dinged with a text message from Alex. I quickly opened it to see what he said. Kellin looked over my hands to read the message with me.

From Alex:
Hey are you going to Vic's tonight?

"Tell him yes." Kellin said, stating the obvious.

"No I was going to say no." I said sarcastically and he rolled his eyes.

From Jack:
Yeah I'll be there. Are you going?

From Alex:
Yep I just wanted to make sure I would have a cuddle buddy.

From Jack:
Lol was that your way of asking me to be your cuddle buddy?

From Alex:
Haha that was my way of telling you that you are going to be my cuddle buddy :p

From Jack:
Lol you're lucky you're cute

From Alex:
<3 I'll see you tonight

"Aw you're actually good at flirting with him." Kellin said making me blush.

"Stop reading our text messages!" I chuckled and pulled my phone away from his view.

"It's not like you have anything to hide."

"Shut up."

My mom came in my room a few minutes to tell Kellin and me that she was making lunch. I decided to ask her if it was okay for me to go out again tonight.

"Mom is it alright for me to go Kellin to our friend’s house tonight?" I asked.

"Uh I don't know, Jack. You were just out late last night so you probably don't need to stay out late again tonight." She told me and I frowned. I hated when parents gave that excuse and I hated that she was telling me no.

"But mom it's not like I'm going with some strangers! I'm going to be with friends." I complained.

"Yeah but I still don't like you going out so much. Plus you're only sixteen, there's no reason for you to go out every night."

"But it's not every night. It's literally just Friday and Saturday! I follow my curfew so why is it a problem for tonight?" I snapped.

"Your tone is a problem and if you don't change it you won't go anywhere for the next two weeks." She warned.

Kellin tapped my leg trying to tell me to stop. I nodded my head apologetically. "I'm sorry." I sighed.
"Mhmm. You two can eat in ten minutes." She told us and left.

I exhaled angrily and fell back in my bed. I hated being so young, my mom babied me way too much. I was very mature for my age. If I wasn't Alex wouldn't have fell for me saying that I was twenty-one.

"Hopefully she'll calm down and you can try asking again later." Kellin said.

"Yeah hopefully." I repeated.

"If not you can always sneak out." He whispered and I agreed. There was always that option because she wouldn't know if I were home or not. I probably shouldn't have asked at all.

My mom, May, and I were eating pizza for dinner in the kitchen together. My mom had to leave for work in thirty minutes and I would be leaving shortly after her. Kellin texted me an hour ago saying his mom gave him the same speech about going out too much so he had to sneak out too. I really didn't want to sneak out so I tried asking my mom one last time.

"So mom is still no for me to hang out with my friends tonight?" I asked.

"Yeah I just don't want to go out late some many times during the weekend. You never know what might happen." She complained. It took everything I had not to roll my eyes. Parents could be so dramatic.

"Okay. Fine." I shrugged. I was just going to sneak out anyways.

"Please don't be mad at me, Honey. I'm only doing this for your safety." She sighed.

"Sure mom." I stated. May shook her head at me but I just ignored her.

We finished the rest of our dinner in silence. When my mom left to her room to get dressed May crossed her arms and stared at me.

"Do I need to stay here and make sure you don't sneak out?" She questioned. She always tried to act like a second mom to me.

"No I'm not a child." I replied.

"I don't know. That temper tantrum you threw at mom earlier says otherwise." She insisted and I rolled my eyes.

"I'm not going anywhere." I lied.

"Alright. Well I need to go get ready for my date. I'll try to come back over tomorrow."

I told her bye and she went to go tell my mom bye before leaving. My mom came out of her room a few minutes later dressed in her formal work clothes. She looked at me sadly and sat down next to me.

"Do you hate me now?" She asked.

"No." I answered shortly.

"Do you understand why I don't want you out?"

"No."

She sighed before saying, "You will when you get older and have children of your own." I didn't believe that. "I'll see you when I get off in the morning." She kissed me on the forehead and left. I was surprised she didn't do like May and ask me not to sneak out, but that probably wasn't a possibility in her mind.

I texted Kellin to ask if his mother left yet and he said she was making her way to the door. That was cue that I needed to go throw my clothes on. I went up to my room and took the outfit I was planning to swear out. It was just a white V neck and pajama pants. Kellin told me last minute that it was a pajama party.

I was going to pick Kellin up from his house. I wasn't going to drink tonight so I offered to drive us instead of taking an Über. I grabbed my phone and texted Kellin that I was on my way and left.
I made the short drive over to his house and texted him that I was outside. We were going to be a little late. Kellin came out two minutes later and got in my car.

"Thank God for overnight shifts which made this all possible." He said and I began driving.

"I know. We would never be able to do anything if our parents didn't work so late." I added.

We made a stop to a nearby gas station for snacks before going over there. We talked about how overrated parents are until we pulled up to the house. I had to park a little far since there were other cars there. We got out and went to the front door which was locked for once. Kellin rang the doorbell and we waited.

Mike came and opened the door for us smiling. He had a glass of wine in his hand and had probably been drinking all night.

"Hey guys! Come in!" He stumbled over and let us step in. Kellin and I both chuckled and told him hello. Non-annoying drunk people were always funny to me.

"Everyone is upstairs in the media room." He told us.

We climbed the stairs and walked through one of the double doors of the media room. It was full with the band mates of All time low and Pierce the veil plus some significant others. We said hello to everyone all at once so we wouldn't have to say it multiple times.

I spotted Alex sitting in a recliner all by himself. It was wide enough to fit two people. He smiled at me and patted the spot next to him. I sat down and we hugged each other the best way we could while sitting.

"Hey cuddle buddy." He chuckled.

"Hi." I giggled.

"You're not afraid of scary movies are you?" He asked.

"Um maybe a little." I trembled and he laughed. He pulled me closer to him and wrapped an arm around my shoulder.

"Okay everyone please place your phones on silent. The movie is about to start." Vic announced jokingly. I guess we were the last ones to arrive. Vic pressed play with the remote and the movie started.

I cuddled closer to Alex and he pulled out a blanket and put it over us. I placed my head on his shoulder and he put his arm back around my waist. It felt like we were on a date at a real movie theater. He offered me so trail mix that he had and we shared it plus the twislers I bought at the store.

The movie night went really well. Everyone complained that the movie wasn't that scary, but I felt the complete opposite. I was scared by every jump scene in the movie, but having Alex there made it a little better.

Everyone began talking and wasting time so we did the same.

"Aw you look so shaken up." Alex told me.

"Yeah that movie was terrifying." I said and he placed his hand on my thigh. Even though it was just on my thigh it felt kind of sexual.

"I won't let any ghost get you." He joked.

"Thanks." I chuckled.

"Mhm. So what have you been doing since out date?"

"School as always. What about you?"

"I and the guys have been talking with other labels. We've been thinking about switching for a while now."

"That's exciting! Maybe you guys will become like Twenty-one Pilots and get your music on the radio."

"Eh I don't know. That sounds nice, but don't want them to over play our songs." He chuckled.

"Yeah I am kind of sick of hearing 'Stressed Out.'"

"Exactly. So right now we're just going to look for a new label." He said.

"I'm sure you'll find one soon."

Everyone began making their way out the door so we got up too. We all went downstairs together since everyone in All time low rode together and Kellin and I rode together. We told Mike, Jaime, and Tony and their girlfriend’s bye, then we walked outside. Vic was walking Kellin out to my car, while I walked with Alex.

"We never did make plans for our second date." Alex told me as we walked.

"Oh yeah. What did you have in mind?" I asked.

"Well I wanted to let you choose, but then I saw that the Orioles we're playing here on Monday night so I bought us tickets to the game."

"You did?" I gasp and he nodded. "You're spoiling me." I giggled and hit his arm.

"Well you deserve to be spoiled." He said as we stopped at my car. "The game starts at seven so I'll come get you at six."

"Okay." I smiled down shyly. He placed his hand under my chin and lifted it to kiss me. We didn't make out, for too long since his friends were waiting. We waved to each other as he walked across the street to Zack's truck.

I turned to get in my car and saw Kellin leaning against I, making out with Vic. I cleared my throat and they pulled away from each other laughing.

"Sorry." Vic apologized. The kissed each other bye and we got in the car and left.

"That was really fun." Kellin said as I drove.

"Yeah it was. I'm happy we snuck out to go." I smiled to myself.

"You're just happy you got to see Alex." He teased.

"I am. Plus he bought tickets to the Orioles game and we're going Monday night."

"Wow! That's a nice second date."

"I know. I literally can't wait to see him again." I said and he chuckled.

"You've got it bad for him."
