What's My Age Again?

"Do you feel any better after taking the medicine?" Kellin asked me. We were in our last class of the day; art.

"Um kind of I guess. I mean I’m not throwing up as much anymore." I said.

"But you're still throwing up?"

"Well yeah, but I think it's because the doctor gave me a weak dose of antibiotics. She said she didn't want to make me more nauseous by giving me anything too strong." I explained.

"Oh okay." He said sounding kind of suspicious. I ignored it because I knew what he was thinking. Even though he hasn't told me he still thought there was a chance I could be pregnant, I could tell he still felt that way.

"Yeah so what are you doing after school today?" I asked, changing the subject.

"Vic invited me to rehearsals tonight. They're playing that music festival tomorrow." He said.

"Oh yeah I forgot that's tomorrow night. Are you going?"

"Duh. You and I are both going together." He told me and I chuckled.

"Okay I think it starts at seven. We should probably get there a little bit earlier to get good spots." I suggested and he frowned.

"What do you mean? We're going to be backstage." He laughed.

"Oh I didn't think about that." I laughed with him.

"Yeah they'll just tell the backstage crew to let us in." He said.

"That's exciting! I can't wait to see them perform in front of an actual audience." I said.

"I know. I've only seen Pierce practice, never play like in a concert."

"I kind of like Pierce, but at times their music is a little too much for me."

"Is it because of the screaming?" He chuckled.

"Yeah. I like they're lyrics and stuff but I don't like being yelled at." I complained and he laughed.

"You're an idiot. You get used to it after a while."

"Well it's going to be a long while before I'm used to that. But do you need me out of the house while you're at rehearsals with them?" I asked.

"Yes please!"

"Okay. I'm going to be with Alex anyways so I'll just stay with him longer." I told him and he nodded.

"Awesome. Are you going to his straight from school?"

"Yeah but you can go home. I told my mom that I was staying for a club meeting and social. I'll just tell her that you and I are meeting somewhere afterwards so I can stay out when you leave."

"We're horrible children." He said and I agreed. We did lie to our moms a lot.

"They probably did the same when they were our age."

I was now at Alex's place, in his bed with him. I came over and found him still lying in bed. He said he was just trying to rest his body for tomorrow's performance, but I knew he was just being lazy.

"Why aren't you guys rehearsing today like Pierce the Veil is?" I asked him.

"We practiced all week long so we're prepared. Plus we didn't want to tire ourselves out."

"Oh that makes sense."

"Yeah. You're still coming tomorrow aren't you?" He asked.

"Yes! I wouldn't miss it for the world." I said and kissed him.

"Good. Wait aren't I supposed to be quizzing you over the lyrics to some of our songs?" He asked. I completely forgot about that.

"No...Maybe...yes."

He laughed, "Well I hoped you studied."

"I did." I lied.

"Okay I'll ask you five. If you get four out of five right I'll take you to get ice cream."

"Alright I got this." I told myself.

"Okay number one, what song starts off with umm 'Three pm on my feet and staggering, through misplaced words and a sinking feeling, I got carried away?’” He sang.

It sounded kind of familiar when he sung it. I had no idea what song it could be.

"Ummm is it the one called the party song or something like that?" I asked and he sighed.

"No, it was Stella!"

"Ooh yeah. The one named after a beer. Okay do another one." I giggled.

"Alright which song has the lyrics 'everybody getting kind of crunk, I think some dude just grabbed my junk, Now I know how Kesha must be feelin’?'"

"Oh easy 'I Feel like Dancing.'" I said confidently.

"Correct! That's one out of two for you. You can't miss any more." He told me.

"That's for making me nervous." I said sarcastically and he laughed.

"Sorry. Next question which song has the lyrics umm 'you think opinions make you savvy, Your running mouth falls on deaf ears, You say you're winning 'cause you're laughing, While I'm crying crocodile tears?'"

"I know any song from Don't Panic. That's The Irony." I answered.

"The Irony of what? I need the full title please." He questioned and I rolled my eyes.

"The Irony of Choking on a Lifesaver."

"Correct! That one was kind of easy. Next one won't be. What song starts off with 'I fought it for a long time now. While drowning in a river of denial. I washed up, fixed up, picked up all my broken things?'"

"Ummmm Break Your Little Heart?"

"No I'm sorry that is incorrect the answer is-"

"-Wait wait let me try one more time. Pleeease??" I pleaded.

"Fine guess again." He told me.

"Um I think it's on the Nothing Personal cd." I thought out loud and he nodded. "Is it Under a Paper Moon?" I asked and he looked so done with me.

"Okay not only is that the wrong song, but that song is on Dirty Work not Nothing Personal." He complained. "No ice cream for you."

"But Alex I tried my best!! Doesn't that get me anything?" I asked.

"No." He said stubbornly.

"It's not fair. You guys have like twelve CDs. How am I supposed to memorize ever song to every CD?"

"Our fans do it and you do it too with Panic at the Disco." He accused me.

"You're so unfair. Can we please go get ice cream?" I begged.

"No you lost fair and square."

I stuck out my bottom lip and stared up at him desperately. He picked up his phone and glanced at me and then he looked back his phone screen.

"You're going to have to do way better than that." He chuckled.

I sighed and laid down on his chest. I didn't feel like moving any more anyways. I traced the patterns on his shirt while he finished up whatever he was doing on his phone. I was starting to get light headed again. I skipped out on eating at lunch and I didn't eat breakfast because I was afraid it would make me sick. Skipping meals through the day was making me feel weak.

"Okay we don't have to get ice cream, but can we get real food? I'm starting to feel lightheaded." I told Alex. He quickly sat his phone down and focused his attention on me.

"Yeah I'll get you anything you want." He said quickly and I blushed. He cared so much about me.

"I think I need water first." I mumbled and he got up. He kissed me on the forehead and told me he would be right back. I laid back in his bed and tried to stop the room from spinning. I thought this sickness would be over by now.

Alex returned with a glass of ice water. I thanked him and grabbed it from him. The water helped me lighten up a bit. I think I might have been a little dehydrated too.

"You need food so you don't pass out." He told me and I nodded. I didn't know what to eat that wouldn't make me throw up.

"Yeah but I don't want to make you leave to get me food." I said and he shook his head.

"Don't worry about it. I just want to help you feel better."

"Okay well I’ll take cereal if you have any."

"Yeah of course." He got up and left to go make it.

I needed to get over my fear of eating so I wouldn't feel this sick anymore. This was probably also why my antibiotics weren't working. Alex came back ten minutes later with a bowl of Raisin Bran. It wasn’t my favorite cereal, but I was hungry enough to eat anything.

“Why do you have Raisin Bran? That’s something old people eat.” I joked and he chuckled.

“Rian buys it, and it’s the only cereal we have that isn’t jammed backed with sugar.” He sat it on his nightstand and came to sit next to me. I sat up so I could be sitting instead of lying next to him.

"Eat it slowly so you don't make yourself feel worse." He told me and I nodded. He handed me the bowl and I took a bite.

"Thank you." I told him as I took a second bite.

"Mhmm. Of course." He kissed me on the cheek.

Alex watched me as I ate and told me when to slow down if I was eating too fast. I was so hungry it was kind of hard not to shove my food into my mouth. His phone started ringing and he sighed. I looked down and saw 'Mother' flashing on the screen.

"Hello." He answered. "No mum I wasn't ignoring you I promise...I was taking a shower the first time...okay...okay...okay mum just let me put some clothes on and I'll be there in a few minutes...okay I love you too. Bye." He rolled his eyes as he hung up and set his phone down.

"It's so cute the way you say mom." I giggled.

"Mum? It sounds pretty normal to me." He said.

"Mum." I tried to imitate the way he said it.

"Leave me alone." He chuckled.

"She wants you to come over?" I asked.

"Yes. Well her and my dad are about to go to Essex for a few days so she wants to see me before they go."

"That's sweet!"

"Yeah yeah. Do you wanna come with me?" He asked and I paused. Did he really want me to meet his parents right now? We've only been for like three months.

"Um is that a good idea?" I asked.

"Yeah it’ll be fine. I'll just tell them that we're friends for now so they won't bombard you with questions."

"Okay. I'll be happy to meet them." I said.

I finished up my cereal and we left to go visit his parents. It was a thirty minute drive to their house from his, but I had time to spear. I texted Kellin and told him that I was meeting Alex's parents. He freaked out and started talking about Alex and me getting married.

Alex stopped in front of a nice two story house. He got out and came to open my door for me. We walked up to the door and he rang the doorbell. Alex's mom opened the door and pulled her son into a tight hug.

"I missed you so much." She said in a thick accent and kissed him on the cheek.

"I missed you too mum." He chuckled and she let him go.

"Oh hi it's nice to meet you!" She stuck her hand out for me to shake.

"Hi Mrs. Gaskarth! It's nice to meet you too." I told her. We walked in and went straight to the living room.

"Why didn't you tell me you had a new boyfriend?" She asked Alex as we sat.

"He's just a friend mum." Alex lied.

"Oh okay.” She said skeptically. “I was going to say he kind of looks a little too young for you." She laughed. I nervously laughed along with her because she was telling the truth.

"He's only two years younger than me." He said and she nodded. "Where's Dad?"

"Right here!" His dad called out as he walked into the living room. Alex stood up to hug his dad and I stood up to shake hands with him.

"Why didn't you tell us you were dating someone new?" He dad asked.

"We're just friends." Alex repeated.

"Do you believe that?" Mr. Gaskarth asked Mrs. Gaskarth.

"No. He can never look us in the eyes when he's lying to us." She chuckled. "Jack, how long have you two been dating?" She asked.

I looked at Alex but he had his face covered with his hand. His mom already knew about us to I told her anyways.

"Three months." I answered and she smiled. Alex shook his head at me in disappointment.

"I like you. You're honest." She added.

"Thank you." I mumbled. If only she knew how much I've lied to her son. "You two should stay for dinner so we can get to know you."

"Actually mum I have rehearsals with the guys so we can't stay." Alex lied and I chuckled.

"Aw okay. Maybe you two can come by next week."

"Yeah we'll try." Alex told her.

"So Jack what do you do for a living?" His dad asked me.

"Um I go to the University of Baltimore. I'm a full time student right now." I answered.

"Oh finally you got a smart one!" Mrs. Gaskarth exclaimed and Alex sighed.

"What do you do in your free time?"

"Are you really okay with Alex being in a band?"

"What do you your parents do for a living?"

I was bombarded with questions like Alex said I would be. It was a little bit overwhelming, but they were just looking out for their son.

"I'm so sorry." Alex whispered and kissed me on the cheek as I got ready to answer another wave of questions.

Notes

Jack might be in a little to deep with Alex now that he has meant his parents.
Also did anyone guess the songs along with Jack? It was hard for me to put the wrong answers on purpose lol
