Just Two Kids Stupid and Fearless
Get a Grip
Riley
I can’t believe I agreed to this dumb party, worst mistake ever. I searched through Haley’s closet, looking for something to wear, but she didn’t have many things that were my style. It was all either neon colors, or tight enough to break a rib. I would rather wear sweatpants and a t shirt.
“What about this?” I asked, holding up a white tank top with cute buttons.
“Oh no, no, no, no. There’s no way you are wearing that tank top to this kind of party, you’re wearing a dress.” Haley said.
“You are lucky I am even coming to this stupid thing, but I am not wearing a dress!” I protested. I can’t stand wearing dresses, especially the skin tight short ones that were popular at these parties. Maybe I should bring sweatpants to change into, then hide from everybody. That's a good idea.
“Aww, please Riley! I’m wearing one, you will look hot in it.” Cass whined, and laid out options on the bed. I didn’t like any of them. There was one strapless red one that looked too tiny for me anyways, a pink one that Haley only wore over bathing suits because it showed the bottom half of her ass, a black one that looked too fancy. None of these work, I shouldn’t even go.
“How about this one?” Cass offered, and picked up a maroon, long sleeve, short body con dress.
“Uhh, I couldn’t pull that off.” I muttered, but she shoved me in the bathroom with it to change into. When I put it on, it stuck to my body like glue. It’s so tight, it stopped just below my butt, and had a scoop neck that I desperately wanted to cover up. Before I could take it off and say I hated it, my two nosy friends barged in and started blurting compliments.
“Damn, Riley, I wish I had your curves, I have no boobs and no butt, I’m practically a boy.” Cass said, looking down at her flawless body in disappointment.
“Cass you’re beautiful, and you are going to look amazing in that blue dress you picked. You obviously aren’t a boy because you’re dating Rian, the straightest guy I know.” Haley cheered her up.
It was true, he was a total cookie cutter straight guy. But, I can tell how madly in love with Cassadee he is, it’s adorable. Every time he sees her his eyes light up, he tells her absolutely everything that goes on in his life, he never stops texting her when they are apart, on that rare moment. Seriously, he follows her around like a puppy dog. I know how much Cass loves him too, because she never stops talking about her “amazing” and “so thoughtful” boyfriend. It gets on Haley’s nerves but I love it, it’s adorable. I used to talk about Luke like that, now I rarely mention him around my friends. Whenever I repeat the things he calls me, they freak about and beg me to break up with him. Luke is just being honest about how he thinks of me, I wouldn’t want him to lie. When he calls me fat, or ugly, I try not to let it get to me, but it’s what my boyfriend thinks about me.
“Come on, let’s go do your hair.” Haley told me, and grabbed my wrist to drag me out of the bathroom.
