Just Two Kids Stupid and Fearless

Riley's pov

This summer was too short, they always are. It was the first day of my junior year in high school, I couldn't be more nervous. Well, I'm always nervous, I guess today I'm just extra nervous. I couldn't decide what to wear, most of my clothes were in the laundry because I was procrastinating on doing it. I put on a simple maroon tank top, and distressed jean shorts, and added a choker and tons of cheap rings. I did my makeup, and decided my hair didn't look completely terrible today. since it was naturally wavy and curly, I usually put it in a ponytail because it's annoying. I put on my vans, and went on my way to hell.

When I made it to school and found my locker, I felt like slamming my head in the door of it. I forgot how much I hated this place. I've been so relaxed during the summer, I've just been hanging out with Haley and Luke, not together of coarse. Haley hates him, I don't blame her, most people do until you get to know him. We've only been dating for a couple months, and we still haven't gotten very serious, because of me. Of coarse, I disappoint most people. Anyways, Haley always urges me break up with him, she's my best and only friend really so, I value her opinion. But, I was always too scared to talk to Luke about our relationship and how he feels about it because I feel like I need him much more than he needs me. They are both such independent people, I'm the opposite. I can barely talk to anyone at school I'm so shy, most people don't even know who I am. I'm practically invisible.
Interrupting my thoughts, my foot slipped out from under me and I landed face first into a pair of maroon vans. At least they had nice taste. I was so surprised for the whole situation, I saw a hand reach out to help me and I gladly took it. I stood up to see a handsome face. It was Alex Gaskarth, of fucking coarse I would trip onto the hottest guy ever. This feels like the start of a bad movie. Alex bend down to pick up my books I was carrying, and I admired his features. He wore skinny jeans, a black shirt, and a grey beanie that covered his perfect caramel brown hair, and his bangs swept in his face so perfectly.

"Are you okay? You better watch out for those wet floor signs." he chuckled, still holding onto my books. Oh no, he wants to have a conversation. I'm not prepared for this. My lips felt glued together, and I glanced over at the wet floor sign.

"Oh yeah..." I muttered. Ugh, I sounded so uninterested, but I was actually very interested.

"Are you new here? I've never seen you before." he asked, with an adorable grin on his face. He has no clue who I am, of coarse. Maybe he won't remember this conversation. I was thinking hard on what to say, trying not be be awkward.

"No, I just don't have many friends." I answered. That sounds so lonely, oh my god. Why am I cursed with such awkwardness? He probably thinks I'm just a lonely weirdo. I noticed he was still holding onto my books. Why? Why is he talking to me, I'm such a loser and he's amazing.

"Well, what's your name? I'm gonna need to know your name, since were friends now." he smirked. Why on earth would he want to be friends with me?

"R-Riley Rose." I stuttered out. He smiled, started walking away with my books, and motioned to me to walk with him.

"What class are you going to, Riley Rose?" Alex asked, our arms brushing against each other, sending goose bumps across my skin.

"English." I stated. I didn't stutter or sound awkward that time! Yay! Well, I'm awkward in my head. Alex chuckled.

"So am I, what are the odds? Two brand friends, in the same class. What a day." he said. How is he calling us friends? We just met. Then, I just realized I had a smile on my face, which he was grinning back at. Well, today in hell turns about to seeming like a day in heaven.

Sorry this is a short and really bad chapter, it's always hard to start the story off well. But, Alex and Riley met! Even though they both are dating different people, I wonder what's going to happen with that... heheh
