Alex's POV I was woken up by someone walking into the room. "It's only me." Jack said quietly. "Have you seen her?" I asked and sat up a little. "Not yet, I was waiting for you too wake up first." He smiled. "Has the doctors said anything?" I asked and Jack came over and sat on the bed. "They said that she was okay." He said quietly and looked down. "What aren't you telling me?" I whispered. "We nearly lost her." Jack sniffed and a stray tear rolled off the end of his nose. I pulled him into my chest and rest my head on top of his. "But we haven't though have we?" I asked hoping nothing happened. "No, but they said it would be a miracle if she was still alive by the end of the day." He sniffed. I buried my face in Jacks hair and felt a couple of tears fall. Jack moved and looked at me. "I don't like it when you cry." He said quietly and wiped the tears away. "Can we see Sky?" I asked quietly and Jack got off the bed and helped me up and we we t to the babies unit.--------------------
When we got there Cass and Rian was there. Since Rowan I haven't seen these two for ages and I miss them. "Alex!" Cass said and pulled into a bone crushing hug for a woman with a really small frame. "Hey Cass." I said quietly and returned her hug. They also was the kids godparents as well, and even if they are no relation to us they was family to me and Jack so they was like an aunt and uncle figures to the kids. "So can I go a see my gorgeous godchild number 5?" Cass smiled. I nodded and she and me went in and I left Jack with Rian so he can have a break. "Sir, only family can be in here." A nurse said. "She is family, she's my child's godmother and aunt." I said quietly. I was surprised when the nurse backed off and we got to Skylar plastic box as me and Jack all it. "Oh my god Lex she's tiny!" Cass said. "Yeah, I just want to hold her and tell her everything is going to be okay and that she'll get through this." I said quietly and sat in the chair. "You have to have a pretty name for this little one." She said and sat next to me. "Skylar, but Sky for short." I said. Cass smiled. "Where's the gang? Thought they would be here." She said quietly. "Their either at home or at school but I'm betting on them being at home looking after Rowan." I said. "Haven't seen them for ages, when this one and you are out of here I'm going to come round and see everyone I've missed them." She said. "Well we have 2 more people living in the house along with Hamish." I said and Cass looked at me confused. "Tyler and Kit got thrown out and now live with us. And Hamish is Aidan's pet dragon thing." I said. "Oh is Seth and Ri finally got someone now?" She asked. "Yep, which is nice because it means I don't have to worry about Seth that much since Tyler looks after him." I said and a nurse came over. ------------------ "Are you Mr Barakat?" She asked. "Gaskarth, is my daughter going to be okay?" I said and stood up. "Where is your husband I need to speak to him. If it concerns my daughter then you'll tell me!" I said. "It does concern your daughter, but I need your husband here." She said. "I'm here." Jack said and stood behind me and wrapped an arm around my waist. "We'll leave you two alone and grab a coffee." Cass said and got up and left us alone. "Is our daughter going to be okay?" Jack asked. "After nearly losing her last night I'm surprised she's still here. She gonna be a tough little cookie." She smiled. "But its still touch and go as she has some problems breathing and she can't seem to keep herself warm." She said. "But as she get older she'll be okay?" I asked. The nurse nodded. "But the next couple of 48 hours are still touch and go, but if you want to then you can hold her." She said. I smiled the biggest smile I smiled since getting into hospital. "By the look of the smile its a yes." She chuckled and Jack moved and sat on the chair and I went over to the plastic box. "She's a little delicate at the moment." She said and handed Sky to me. "My 2 year old was 4 weeks early but 2 months early is a bit longer than that." I said and went back over to Jack and sat on his lap. "You happy now you can hold her?" Jack chuckled. "Yeah." I said quietly and fixed Skys little hat. "None of them baby clothes are gonna fit." I said and Sky put her tiny hand round my little finger. "Cant get any smaller than newborn." Jack said and kissed the side of my head. He fixed the blanket round her a little so she wouldn't get cold. "Want to take her home now. Don't want to put her back in there." I said and slowly moved my finger and she started to cry. "What's the matter?" I asked and a nurse came over. "Sorry to butt in but maybe she would like a bottle." She said and handed us a bottle. "Thanks." Jack said and he gave her the bottle. "Shell I text the kids and see if they want to see her?" Jack asked. "You should know that answer straight away." I chuckled and Sky jumped a little. "Did I make you jump? I'm sorry." I said and kissed the top of her head. "The kids will be here in an hour." Jack said. I looked at him. "Your phone isn't meant to be on let alone texting someone." I said quietly and kissed him. "Well I can't move as I have you and Sky on my lap." He said and kissed me a little harder than what I did. He smiled. "I love you." He whispered and kissed behind my ear. "I love you too." I whispered and rested my head on his shoulder. A nurse came over and put Sky in her plastic box and we got up and waited for the kids to show.----------------- Half an hour later Seth and Riley showed up. "Hey you two." Jack said and pulled Seth into a hug with he returned. Riley came over and pulled me into a hug. "You feeling any better today?" Riley asked. "A little, just want to go home and bring Skylar home." I said quietly. "We have a sister or brother?" Seth asked. "Sister." Jack said. "Aidan will be happy." Riley chuckled. "Where is she anyway? Normally we can't keep her away especially when Rowan was born." I said. "Well Tyler had a test which meant I had one buuut family issues are more important than a shitty test." Seth said. "Seth!" I scolded him. "Kit went to school and make up something about why we aren't there." Riley said. "And Aidan?" Jack asked. "Babysitting the little bastard." Seth said. "It's freezing out here can we go inside." I said and cuddled into Jacks side for warmth. Seth and Riley chuckled and we went to my room. "How long you going to be staying in here for? Rowan is a nightmare and he want you." Riley said. "I should be out at some point today but Sky will be in for week or something." I said and looked down. "Can we go and see our little sister?" Seth asked. I smiled. "Of course." I said and we all got up and went to the baby until. ------------ Seth was sat in the chair holding Sky. "Her hat is too big for her." He said and looked at me and Jack. "Everything we have for her is going to be too big." Jack said. "Here let me hold her." Riley said. "But she having cuddles with her favorite brother." Seth said. I chuckled. "Boys, you both can give her cuddles." Jack chuckled. "Yeah Seth give her here." Riley said and Seth got up and handed Sky over to him and Riley sat on the chair. She had hold of his little finger. "Does this mean we are in for sleepless nights now for the next year." Seth said. "Yeah, sorry about that." I said quietly. "It's fine." Seth chuckled. "She stinks, have her back." Riley said and handed Sky over to Jack. He gagged. "Lex, do you..." He started but I stopped him. "Na, I'll leave her for you." I said and kissed him and walked out with Seth and Riley following. "That's mean." Seth chuxkled. "Well he has to change her nappy somehow, might as well do the smelliest one." I said. They laughed a little. A few minutes later Jack came out. "Fuck. Air." He coughed. "Smelly was it?" I chuckled. Jack nodded. "Right we're gonna leave you two and go home. We'll see you guys later." Riley said and pulled me into a hug. "See you later, be good the lot of you." I said. "We will." Seth said. They both left.
