The Experts Say I'm Delirious

“I don’t want the plushie to go.”

Tears started to spill from the eyes of the girl that sat in a cold metal chair in the back corner of the room. Her fingers clutched her stuffed brown puppy that she named Daren tighter, but his soft fur did nothing to sooth her sadness. The liquid started to come from her eyes even more. One of the nurses that worked there came over to her.
“What’s wrong?” the nurse signed before more of the nurses started to make their way over to the weeping girl.
“Everyone enjoyed the show because they could hear it. I enjoyed it because the one looked like a plushie. They are done now, and I don’t want the plushie to go,” the girl sobbed in a high, almost child-like, voice. The older woman pondered on which one of the other employees allowed her to come and watch the show.
The members of the band looked over at the crying girl and wondered what was going on. They may have been in a psychiatric hospital, but they were not expecting to see this. The group of four walked over to her to see what could be causing her to be crying so much. The lanky one with the big puppy dog eyes and messy dark hair kneeled down in front of her. His eyes examined her.
The girl in front of him was rather cute. Her long brunette hair was messy and uncombed, and her teary eyes were an emerald green with a chestnut color around her pupil. She was on the pale side from lack of sunlight and rather slim. She was wearing pajamas that were covered in pictures of Jack Russell terrier puppies. He thought that the girl in front of him looked like a child even though it was clear that she was a teenager. She was also clearly not his type, but that did not stop him from thinking how attractive she was.
“What’s wrong?” he asked her, unaware that she couldn’t hear him. He waited for an answer from her but was answered by the nurse instead.
“She’s deaf.” He slowly nodded before turning his attention back to the younger girl. “He wanted to know what was wrong?” the nurse signed.
“I don’t want the plushie to go.” The man looked confused. What did she mean? The girl must have noticed because she started to explain. “You look like a plushie. I don’t want you to go. I want you to stay and be my plushie like Daren is.” She pointed to the stuffed puppy that she was holding.
This made the gangling man smile. Not only did the looks of her remind him of a child, but her actions did as well. He thought that this was probably the main reason that she was in this mental institution. He started to wonder why she was like this. Was she born this way? He wanted to ask her these questions or at least the nurses. Playing in this place for the ones that could take the change had definitely become interesting.
“He can’t stay.” The teenage girl knew this, but she didn’t want to accept that she wasn’t going to see him again. She wanted him to be her plushie.
“If he can’t stay, then I want to go with him. I’m 19. That means that I’m an adult. Not to mention that I was the one that signed myself in here in the first place.” She was determined to stay with this man.
“We still can’t let you do that.” Those signs made the girl furious.
“Why not?”
The man didn’t know what the nurse was saying that made her upset, so he decided to ask. “What did you tell her?”
“I told her that we can’t let her sign herself out.”
“Why can’t you? She said that she was an adult and she was the one that put herself in here. Shouldn’t she be able to leave when she wants to?”
“We can’t let her in her condition. She needs someone to watch her.”
“She said that she wanted to go with me. I could watch her.”
“Do you know what you’re saying?” the man’s best friend asked. A beanie sat on top of his caramel colored hair, and his brown eyes looked at the man questionably.
“I think I can watch over her. She doesn’t seem that difficult to look after,” the lanky man said.
“She’s a human being, not a dog. There is no way you can take care of her.”
“Do you want to make a bet?”
“No because I’m not going to take money from you.”
This was making the gangling man upset. Even his best friend did not believe that he could look after this girl. She may be in this place and deaf, but that didn’t mean that she was hard to look after.
The girl sitting in front of him had stopped crying and was reading their lips. She couldn’t believe what the man was saying. He wanted to look after her. He surely did not know fully of her mental condition. Of course she didn’t care because she just wanted to go home with the plushie.
“Can I watch her?” the man asked the nurse.
She thought for a moment before answering him. “Well, she is an adult. If she really wants to, she can sign herself out. However, if we find out that something is wrong, we will take her back here and make her stay. We already did a background check on all of you before you came to play, so I already know that there is nothing bad enough that she shouldn‘t stay with you.” She turned to the other band mates. “You better watch her as well. If he needs help, then I want you to help him. Do you understand?” They nodded. “Good.” She turned back to the girl and started to sign. “He said that he’ll take you with him.”
“I know,” the girl said. “I was reading your lips.” The nurse had forgotten that she was good at that. Perhaps, it wouldn’t be as hard as she thought it would be. Well, in that department, it wouldn’t be. “I’m going to go get my stuff.” The girl skipped off to her room.
As she grabbed her stuff, she thought about how this was going to be. What was his place like? Did he have any pets? What did he like to do when he was home?
You’re an idiot.
The girl frowned when she heard that all too familiar voice in her head.
You don’t even know his name, but yet you’re going to stay with him.
The voice that she named Echo was right. She didn’t know anything about this man. He couldn’t be mean though. He was cute like a plushie, and a plushie would never harm her.
When she exited the room with a two big bags filled with her stuff, she went over to the desk by the entrance of the building to find the head doctor talking to the man that looked like a plushie. She was easily able to make out the words because of all the practice she had gotten from being here. They were talking about her condition and about the fact that she has two personalities. She frowned at this. She did not want the plushie to know about Echo. He might judge her because of it.
The lanky man saw her standing there, so he motioned for her to come over to them. He looked into the sign language book the doctor just gave him and tried to find how to introduce himself. He finally found it and slowly started to sign.
“My name is J-A-C-K B-A-R-A-K-A-T. What’s yours?” He didn’t like having to sign each letter in his name, but he was ok with it because he was signing to a really cute girl that was going to be staying with him.
“My name is Alesia Young.”

Yep. I made the fist chapter 12 pages because I'm adding a bunch of stuff. The second is 10, but it's not the second chapter of this story. It's actually her just getting her stuff and having the guy character (his name is Elijah) driving her to his place. I did the same with another one that I started writing, but I haven't finished the finally copy yet. The rough draft has been done, but I only have four and a half chapters done because I'm adding more stuff.
The main difference would be that they do call her Aly in the begining because I found a way to work with it and the chapter where Alesia reveals herself, she has nightmares, and Elijah has a backstory that is also going to be a book. That, and I don't know what to call it yet because it will have a different name.
I'm happy you like this though! :) :) :)
And that's cool about your friend!

@QueenDes that's awesome! One of my friends wrote a book based in her favourite characters and people and we ended up publishing it for her birthday. And if it's a book, it means lots of chapters ;)

Thanks. I forgot to mention when I updated the sequel, but I'm actually turning this into a book that's not a fanfiction (obviously). You're the first to know on here. :)
But thank you. This is my favorite of all of my stories, and it makes me feel awesome when I get comments on it. :) :) :)

Love it, only 1/2 way though at the moment but steaming through it.
@Caletitah
Thanks! I might start writing the first chapter tonight. I just realized that I have two stories that are late, so I might write it tomorrow.
