Saving Grace

comfortable.

Neither of us dared to move as we sat for however long looking out over the lake. It felt like an eternity. A safe eternity. I don't know what it was about Jack, I barley know him and his company just makes me feel safe and comforted.
I think of the last time I felt like that, the realisation of how long it had been making me shiver.
"Are you cold?" He sounded concerned, "here take my jacket."
He hadn't given me a chance to answer, and he'd already wrapped me in his black leather jacket. I wasn't cold but I never wanted to take it off. It was like a warm hug with a sweet yet quite manly smell. I could get used to this.

"Thanks, Jack," I smile up at him. It was a genuine smile. He returned a toothy grin.
"S'okay, it looks better on you anyway," he joked causing me to blush and release a choked sound which I'm guessing was meant to be a giggle. I can't believe I had forgotten how to laugh. He laughed too . It was music to my ears, I could just drown in the sound of it and the way his nose crinkled made me want to just pinch his cheeks and kiss him and never stop.
What am I talking about? I don't know him.
My face fell and he noticed.
"Hey, don't stop smiling," he said softly placing two calloused fingers under my chin tilting my face up, "your smile makes you even more beautiful." I blushed even more and looked deep into his eyes.

I saw something in them, happiness but mixed with a hint of something else. He looked lost but at the same time like he belonged.

After a lifetime of staring into each other's eyes, his fingers still tilting my chin, it grew a tad awkward again. Clearing his throat, he slowly removed his fingers and looked away. I looked down not sure what to do next.
"Um....Grace?" My head snapped up. The way my name rolled off his tongue made my belly flip. His mouth his where the word belongs.
"Would you like to come back to my place?" I raised my eyebrows in disapproval and his face was smothered in panic. Shaking his head he quickly said, "No, no! Not like that, I just meant to warm up and dry off. Do you like tea? I have hot chocolate too. I'd really like to get to know you more," his eyes were hopeful.
"Sure," he replied.

We stood up, our hands close together as we walked. All I wanted to do was move my hand another inch and grab his hand so tight I'd be worried about cutting off his blood circulation.
The walk was silent but it was the most comfortable silence I have ever been in.

After about ten minutes we arrived at an old apartment block just outside the centre of London. It looked inviting and homely from the outside. It suited Jack. I hated houses that look like showrooms with a clinal feel. That just isn't a home to me.
He fished for his key but couldn't seem to find it.
After a while he looked at me and chuckled.
"What?"
"You still have my jacket on. My keys are in there. Left pocket."
"Oh, sorry," I smiled and handed him his keys.
We stepped inside and I removed his coat giving it back to him. He hung it up as I took of my shoes.
"Go straight through and make yourself comfortable in the living room while I make us some tea. How do you like yours?"
"One sugar and quite milky please, thank you."
He nodded and I turned to enter his living room. It certainly was comfortable.
I sunk into his black sofa and it was like resting on a cloud.

I looked around the room and the first thing that caught my eye besides the huge plasma screen were the plaques. I stood up to take a look. All Time Low. That sounded familiar.
Wow, they must be a good band with all of these achievements; Number One Album, Platinum Sales.
Seeing this makes me think he's modest, he didn't tell me. I imagine quite a few people in a band would tell me what they did within ten seconds. Shoving it in my face as if it would instantly make me want to have sex with them.
Jack didn't. I like him.

I heard Jack clear his throat causing me to jump. I turned around and as he walked to sofa to set the tray down on the coffee table, I made my way over to sit back down.
"Here's your tea."
