I felt bad leaving Alex so soon but I had to get home. My mom is extremely abusive to me and my older sister Valerie. She came into my room last night an left me a note that she had to talk to me, but it seems as my mom got to her first. Valerie was raped about a month ago. She was feeling really bad lately so I told her to get a pregnancy test, she was probably going to tell me the results.

I hope Alex doesn't think I don't want to be with him. He kissed me though and wanted to see me again, that had to have meant something. But then again it was Alex Gaskarth, it could have meant nothing at all. To me it meant the world.

I opened the front door and ducked as a glass vase came flying in my direction. I walked cautiously into the kitchen and saw my sister curled up in a ball in the corner of the kitchen covered in glass and blood while my mother was flinging glass all over the house and screaming at her.
"Mom." I tries to say calmly. She stopped throwing glass and glared at me. I glanced at Valerie and gave her a look to run away. She fled up to her room as fast as she could dodging all the broke glass on the floor.
"Did you know about this!?"

"Know about what?"

""Your fucking sister!"

"What about Valerie, mom?" I tried to sound like I didn't have a clue.

"She's fucking pregnant! I fucking swear if you ever get knocked up I fucking swear I will kill you and the mother fucker who knocked you up!" I breathed slowly so I wouldn't yell back at her. She did t have anymore glass to throw, but the knives were next.

"Mom, calm down it wasn't her fault."

"So you're on her side!?" I saw her pick up a steak knife. I backed up towards the stairs.

"Well yes mom, she was raped and I'm totally going support the baby because she has no one to help her, cause its obvious that you aren't going to." I said sternly but then dashed towards the stairs when I heard her growl ad saw the knife lodged into the wall where I was standing.

I ran towards Valerie's room to see her crying on her bed holding the pregnancy results. She was shaking and mumbling to herself. I snuck to the bathroom I get the first aid kit to clean up all her open cuts from the glass. I sat next to her on the bed and she looked up at me and forced a smile.

I cleaned her up and soothed her to stop crying.
"What am I going to do, Jack?"

"I'll help you support the baby, I won't act as a father figure but I'll get a job and give you money and other supports you need to take care of the baby." She dug her head into my shoulder and wrapped her arms around me as a thank you.
"But what about mom? She is going to kill me and if you help, she's going to kill you too."

"I'll be fine, trust me. You will be fine too. As long as I don't get pregnant, we're safe Val." She smiled and fell asleep in my arms.

I finally managed to get myself out of her grasp without waking her because I needed to see of the coast was clear of my mom. I walked downstairs and it was clean. It looked as if nothing happened. I sighed and looked over at the mark the knife made in the wall that could have went onto my head. I walked up to my room and saw I had another email.

It was from Alex, he had sent me his phone number and said for me to call him. I took out my phone and dialed his number.
"Hello?"

"Alex?"

"Jack! I thought you weren't going to call."

"I'm sorry, I had to deal with some things, my sister is uh, pregnant and my mother didn't take it do well."

"Oh I'm sorry." There was a silence, "Is she going to keep it?"

"Uh yeah I convinced her to."

"That's good. So why haven't I seen you around school?"

"Uh, well we don't have any classes together and I'm not very popular so." I blushed but he couldn't see through the phone, good.

"You're in AP classes?"

"Uh yeah I am." I said shyly.

"Well you seem smart."

"I do? We've barely talked."

"Well I bet it was hard to handle it at home with your mom and sister, pregnancy is a big step."

"Yeah it is." I laughed, "I think I have seen you around school but I never talked to you or knew who you were." I lied, well I was half telling the truth.

"Eat with me at lunch?" he questioned.

"Uh, yeah that would be great."

"Awesome, well I have to go."

"Bye."

"Bye. Love you." Alex mumbled the last part but I caught it.

I kept it with me in my heart the whole night. Alex Gaskarth said he loved me, that was something I thoughts I would never hear.
