Alex’s P.O.V

The day had finally come to an end. I packed up my desk and headed out of the classroom locking the door straight behind me. It was raining outside so I pulled the hood from my jumper over my head to give my hair some sort of protection. I ran as fast as I could towards my car making sure I didn’t drop anything along the way. I hopped into the driver’s seat, put the keys into the ignition and drove off.

The rain was pelting of the front windscreen and bouncing back onto the road. As I drove along the highway I could see a dark figure, a very dark wet figure. I drove a little faster to try and catch up to the person who was now walking a little faster with each step obviously desperate to get out of the rain. As I got nearer the person looked very familiar, It was Jack.

“Get in the car Jack!” I called out as I stopped the car beside him and rolled down the window.

“Um okay” He called back before opening the door and plonking his soggy but on the chair.

“Look at you! You’re absolutely soaking. Don’t you get the bus or whatever?” I asked feeling sorry for the poor boy.

“Well um my friend Rian usually gives me a ride in his car but he’s out sick today” He sighed before buckling his seat belt.

The rest of the journey consisted of some small talk before we eventually pulled up outside Jacks house.

“Um so this is my house. Thanks for the ride Alex” He smiled weakly his hair dripping little spots of water on his face.

“It’s no problem at all. I’ll see you at school tomorrow yea?” I smiled back

“Yea, If I haven’t caught a deadly cold” He laughed.

“Hey uh Alex do you want to come in? It’s the least I could do to say thanks.” He asked hesitantly

“Uh sure? If your family don’t mind?” I smiled.


Jacks P.O.V

We Stepped out of the car and wasted no time in heading straight to the front door. I turned my key in the front door and pushed it open, signalling to Alex that it was okay to go inside. We stepped inside and I quickly peeled of my dripping jumper and kicked of my shoes.

“Jack honey is that you?” My mom called from what sounded like the kitchen.

“Yes mom” I called back.

About a second later she emerged from the kitchen wearing her cooking apron and holding a spoon covered in a golden coloured mixture.

“Oh I didn’t realise you had a friend over love” She smiled at Alex.

“Um mum this is Mr Gaskarth my music teacher. He gave me a lift home cos well Rian’s out sick and it’s raining.” I replied hesitantly

Before I could say anything else she was at the other side of the hall hugging Alex.

“Hello dear I’m Joyce, Jacks mom” she beamed.

My mom left for the kitchen again so Alex and I headed for my room. I’ve never really had anyone in my room except for family and friends so I was a little bit nervous as to what he might think.

I opened the door and plopped myself down onto the bed. Alex just stood in the doorway and had a look around before coming in and sitting himself down beside me.

“This is a nice set up you have here Jack” Alex smiled.

“Uh it’s alright I suppose, I’ll uh brb I’m just gonna change out of these wet clothes. You can take a look around if you’d like” I told him.

Alex nodded in acknowledgement as I headed for the door.

I could here the familiar sound of Blink-182’s I miss You coming from my speakers in my room. And Alex’s all too familiar voice mixing with the sound, It was perfect.
