Jack’s P.O.V

Alex’s Soft fingers were neatly clasped around my own as we took a leisurely stroll back towards the bus. As soon as the bus came into view he let go of my hand and moved a little bit away from me. I sighed quietly and kicked the dirt beneath my feet as I climbed up the steps back onto the bus.

‘JACK! There you are! What happened?!’ Miss Momsen practically yelled in my ear.

‘Sorry Miss. Um I ventured in a little too far and got lost!’ I frowned at her.

‘Well you’re safe now! Thank you Alexander.’ She beamed before returning to her seat and signalling to the driver that he may continue with our journey.

‘Oh it’s not a problem Taylor’ He smiled before taking his seat.

I walked up to the back of the bus and flopped back down onto my seat and clipped my seatbelt again. Zack raised his eyebrows at me and gave me a knowing smile from beside me. I frowned and closed my eyes hoping and praying that sleep might take over my body if only for a little while. I could feel myself slowly drifting of into a peaceful, quiet sleep. I rolled over and lay my head against the window but decided that was a bad idea as every time we bumped over something I smacked my head against it.

Eventually I decided that was it, I just couldn’t stay asleep for long so decided to wake and as I opened my eyes I discovered that I must have been asleep for a while because I’m pretty sure we have arrived. I took out my phone and began typing a text to Alex just to be sure.

[8:56am To: Alex From Jack:

Are we here or something? x

To: Jack From: Alex

Yes! So you had better hurry up and get off the bus and join the rest of your group! x

To: Alex From: Jack

Okay I’m coming! x ]

I picked up my rucksack and stepped of the bus. The sun was beating down on everyone and I could already see everyone starting to melt and regret their decision to put jeans on this morning. I laughed quietly to myself and thanked my mum for advising me to wear my shorts and a t-shirt. I spotted Alex and the rest of my group and made my way over to them.

‘Mr Barakat where have you been? I have already done a head count!’ Alex sighed as he noticed me approaching the rest of the group.

‘Sorry I had fallen asleep and no one decided to wake me’ I mumbled quietly running my hand through my hair.

Alex gave me a slightly understanding look and went back to counting the group again to make sure everyone was present before we headed off to check into the hotel.
