Barakat, Jack Barakat

Chapter 34

“Noooo Cass” Amy whined.
“You always take so long!” she threw her head back.
“Pleeeaasseee Amy. Rian’s taking me out for dinner and I need a new dress” she begged.
“Ugh, fine” she finally caved. The pair had been arguing back and forth for 10 minutes after Cass woke Amy up. She ran into Amy’s room telling her it was an emergency, so instinctively, Amy shot up, only to be annoyed when she had been asked to go out shopping.
“You can buy me dinner though seeing as I’ll be the one staying in tonight” she smiled.
“Fine. Just get up and get dressed. Your head is a mess” Cass ruffled her hands through Amy’s hair.
It had been almost a week since they had all been out. Amy had woken up in Alex’s and had to leave almost immediately after she nearly had a breakdown. Just being in the same place where Jack broke up with her was too overwhelming. Jack was still yet to be seen. Whenever Zack or Rian tried to contact him, he was always busy with a friend. It was almost like he was trying to remove them all from his life and start over. He would have to meet up with them eventually, especially Alex. They did have this ‘small’ project under the name of All Time Low that he was fully aware of. Can you imagine them trying to explain his absence to the fans? ‘Oh hey guys, just to let you know that our beloved guitarist has fucked off and we don’t know where he is. All is good though!’

“Are you done yet?” Amy called into the changing rooms.
“You’re so impatient!” Cass laughed, stepping out in one of the many dresses she had chosen, twirling around in it.
“Definitely this one! It’s perfect!” Amy smiled at Cass.
“You’ve said that about most of them” she replied, sighing.
“This is the one though, I promise. Rian won’t be able to keep his hands off of you” Amy gushed.
“Actually, no. If it’s going to make him drool, I don’t want to be around to hear you guys when you come home” she grimaced.
“I heard enough of that on Tuesday night” she pretended to gag.
“Oh and tell Rian he sounds like a dying bird. I don’t know how you can put up with that” she laughed.
“Oh please, I doubt Jack sounds any better” Cass laughed not knowing that she had now killed Amy’s happy mood. Amy just forced out a laugh, choosing not to reply. Cass made her way back into the changing room to get dressed into her normal clothing. When she emerged form the changing room, she immediately noticed that there was something wrong with her friend.
“Amy? What’s wrong?” she asked, approaching her friend.
“You don’t look so good. You look like you’ve seen a ghost” she lightly chuckled.
“I need to go” Amy said, quickly making a beeline for the exit of the store. Amy could hear Cass calling after her, but she didn’t care. She needed to leave. She needed to speak to Alex. She fumbled in her pocket for her phone, pulling it out and quickly trying to call Alex.
“Hey Amy”
“Alex! I need you to-“ Amy couldn’t catch her breath. She could feel herself starting to hyperventilate. No no no she thought. She refused to have an attack in public.
“Amy?... are you still there? What’s going on? Are you okay?”
“I need you to come and pick me up” she said more calmly, gaining more control over her breathing.
“Please” she asked on the verge of tears.
“Where are you? I’ll be right there!”

Cass still stood in the shop waiting to purchase her items. After nearly running out of the store with the clothes and getting shouted at by security, she was slightly embarrassed. She pulled her phone out dialling Amy’s number.
“Cass, listen, I’m so sorry”
“Amy! Where are you? Are you okay?”
“Yes Cass, I’m fine. I’m just- listen, don’t worry. I’m with Alex now on my way back to his. You enjoy tonight and don’t worry about me. I’ll see you soon” and with that Amy hung up. What was going on with her? Cass finally stepped up to the cashier and handed her the dress. A loud, obnoxious laugh sounded throughout the store, making the cashier groan quietly.
“I bet you get sick of loud customers” Cass laughed.
“Especially ones as childish as those” the young girl motioned towards the back of the store. Cass turned in the direction the cashier was looking and followed the laughter. She was shocked at what she saw. There in the underwear section stood Jack trying to try on a bra over his clothes and pretending to fondle himself. Then the laughter started again, Cass’ attention being drawn to the woman next to Jack.
“What the hell?” Cass silently spoke to herself. Had Jack moved on that fast? It hadn’t even been a month yet and he was already seeing another girl? What an ass she thought. She was so tempted to go over and smack him, but she doubted Amy would be happy with her if she did so. Oh crap, Amy! Maybe that’s why she left.
“Oh no” she spoke aloud. She quickly paid for her items and made her way towards the exit. Not before turning towards Jack. She made brief eye contact with him, shooting him a glare. If looks could kill, Jack Barakat would be lying on the floor, in a pool of blood. He quickly turned his attention back to the woman beside him, and that’s when Cass got a good look of her.
“I’ll kill you, Barakat” she muttered before leaving.
