Barakat, Jack Barakat
Amy sat up in bed and stretched, the cool air hitting her skin, forming goosebumps on her arms.
“Morning Jack” she smiled.
She looked to her side, Jack was missing. She stood from the bed, throwing her arms in the air and stretching. She slowly padded down the stairs in search of her boyfriend. She finally found him sitting at the table in the kitchen with a piece of paper in his hand.
“Whatcha’ got there?” she smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck from behind. She placed a small kiss on the back of his neck and began to run her fingers through his signature blonde stripe.
“Oh, nothing” he fumbled to fold the piece of paper up, and placed it in his pocket.
“Just some band stuff” he said, slightly uneasy. Amy noticed his unsure tone immediately, but decided not to push him about it.
“Are you doing anything today?” he asked her, now turning around to face her.
“I think I’m going to drive into town and buy some clothes. My wardrobe needs updating” she laughed.
“Shopping? Eww, count me out” he laughed.
“I wouldn’t expect you to come” she smiled, placing a kiss on his mouth. As she turned to walk away, Jack gently took hold of her hand, causing her to turn around.
“Are you going alone?” he asked, looking into her eyes.
“Yes?” she said, giving him a confused look.
“Oh, okay. Well have fun. I’ll be here all day, sitting around, waiting for you to get back”
“You sound really weird today. Are you okay?” she asked him.
“Is it the band stuff you were reading?”
“What? Oh yeah, that. That’s what it is. I’ll be fine, don’t worry about it” he gave her a small smile. She walked away completely unconvinced, but decided to leave it at that. She needed to get changed into some clothes.
“Next up we’ll be playing a song by local pop-punk band, All Time Low!” the radio called out. Amy shook her head and laughed. They were honestly following her everywhere. She pulled up into the nearest parking space and exited the car. She must remember where she parked the car. Far too many times had she been out and forgotten where she had parked. She made her way towards the nearest clothing store she could find. After spending 15 minutes inside, she walked out disappointed and empty handed. Her wardrobe desperately needed an overhaul, yet she couldn’t find anything to match her style. She walked down the road at a slow pace, just enjoying the day’s weather. It was March, the trees were starting to thicken, the sun was shining, yet the light breeze was cool on her face. A noise behind her pulled her out of her trance. She turned her head, but was met with nothing. Not a person in sight. She carried on walking, however she now had the feeling that someone was following her. She turned around once more, but again, there was nobody there. As she turned back around, she collided with another body, falling to the floor straight on her ass.
“I’m so sorry Miss!” he said, holding his hand out to help her up onto her feet.
“It’s fine. It was my fault, I should’ve looked where I was go-“ she was cut off by a hand being placed over her mouth from behind. She kicked frantically as she was pulled backwards down an alleyway. The alleyway brought back memories of that night. The night Jack had saved her. Jack. All she could think about was Jack. The person released their grip from around her mouth, allowing her breathe properly now.
“Please, I don’t know what you want, but I have money, just take it. It’s not much, but please don’t hurt me” she quickly formed the words, not sure of what was going to happen. Her arms were being held tightly behind her, they were starting to ache. She could just imagine the bruises that would form.
“We don’t want your money sweetie. Or should I say, Jack’s money” that voice. Amy recognised the voice.
“What do you want?” she tried her best to stay strong, however her voice failed her as it left her mouth sounding more like a squeak. That’s when the figure appeared in front of her. The face confirming her fears.
“I’ve told you before to stay away from him” that laugh. That evil, manic laugh pierced Amy’s ears. The laugh that had haunted her dreams. This had to be another nightmare.
“B-but you” Amy searched for something to say.
“You went to prison. They told me you were locked up” that laugh again entered Amy’s ears.
“Oh love, it’s a great thing having money. It’s funny what will shut a few policemen up” “Now listen here, brat” Holly made her way over to Amy, grabbing her face with one hand, her overly long, acrylic nails digging slightly into the flesh of her cheeks.
“Stay away from Jack. I don’t know how many times I have to tell you this. If you don’t, then I’ll just tell Jack the truth about you and Alex”
“You know, how you’re sleeping with Alex behind Jack’s back”
“I’ve never- I haven’t. I would never do such a thing to Jack!” Amy shouted.
“Oh I know that, but Jack doesn’t. He doesn’t trust you. I know he doesn’t. In fact, I think he’s jealous of how close you are with Alex. He’s starting to suspect something is happening between the two of you. If someone was to tell him that you were sleeping with Alex, I think he would believe them” she smiled at Amy.
“He’d never believe you! Jack trusts me!” Amy shouted back at her, however the uncertainty was clear in her voice.
“Are you sure about that? You don’t sound so sure, love” Holly pouted at her.
“Listen, just stay away from Jack otherwise I’ll tell him the news”
“You wouldn’t dare” Amy spat.
“Oh I would. If you even go back to his place, I’ll tell him” she let go of Amy’s face, pushing her away. The hold on her arms was released as the men walked away, leaving Amy all alone in the alley. What was she going to do? She knew Jack was still wary of her and Alex after everything that had happened in the past. She needed to speak to Alex about this. There was no way Jack could find out. He’d never believe her. First things first, she needed alcohol.
After purchasing the alcohol and driving to Alex’s, she stood outside his door, bottles in hand as she knocked.
“Amy? What are you doing here? Alcohol? Are we having a party?!” he perked up.
“Just let me in and I’ll explain” she said, pushing him inside his house.
Jack sat on his bed reading over the letters that he had been receiving the past few days. He felt bad for lying to Amy, telling her that it was band stuff. In fact, it was far from band stuff. He had been receiving anonymous letters, each day with a different message. They consisted of ‘Keep an eye on her’, ‘She’s hurting you’, ‘She’s with him’, however the one he received this morning was the one that had really startled him, ‘Her and Alex. You know she’s with him’. He was unsure of what to think. He knew exactly what the letters were hinting at, but who were they from? Could he trust them? He had always been slightly worried about Amy’s relationship with Alex, but was that just him being paranoid?
Amy sat giggling on Alex’s bed, the pair completely wasted.
“And then she said to me, this was the best part” she laughed, trying to compose herself.
“If you go back to his apartment, I’ll tell him” she burst out laughing as did Alex. She placed her head on his shoulder, trying not to spill her drink.
“That’s bullshit” Alex laughed.
“You? Sleep with me? HA!” he almost snorted.
“I know right? It’s almost like she wants me to sleep with you! I think she’s in this room right now. She has cameras, she just wants to watch” Amy laughed, her head slightly spinning. She sat up and looked Alex dead in the eye.
“Shall we give her a show?” Amy asked.
“Wha-“ Alex was cut off by Amy throwing herself at him, placing her lips on his, moving to sit in his lap. His hands travelled down her hips as he drunkenly kissed her back. The kiss was sloppy and needy. Their tongues fought each other as Amy grinded down on Alex. She tugged at his hair as he let out a low grunt of satisfaction. Alex slowly lowered Amy onto her back, looking into her eyes.
“I want you” he simply stated before leaning down to kiss her again.
