Barakat, Jack Barakat
“BACKSEAT SERENADE, DIZZY HURRICANE, OH GOD I’M SICK OF SLEEPING ALONE” was what filled Amelia’s ears. She was currently in her car with her younger cousin, Holly. Holly was only 16 years old, however, the 8-year age gap didn’t bother the two, they were practically best friends. Amelia and Holly were on their way to a concert in Baltimore.
Amelia had never really heard of the band they were going to see, however agreed to go with Holly, as they were her favourite. Backseat Serenade blasted through the speakers of Amelia’s car as her cousin sat next to her, singing along.
“I can’t believe you’ve never heard of them, Amy!” Amy was Holly’s nickname for her.
“I do have to admit, they are pretty good” Amy responded. The pair rocked away to a whole medley of All Time Low’s songs as they got closer and closer to the venue.
Pulling in at a suitable parking spot, Holly rushed out of the car towards the venue before Amy could even lock up the car
“Slow down there! Nobody’s even here yet!” Amy laughed. It was only 11am, but Holly insisted they get there before anyone else so that they were guaranteed front row so they could, in Holly’s words, ‘feel their body heat’.
Hours passed, and after multiple trips to the nearest Starbucks or McDonalds, the doors to the venue were finally opening. After almost sprinting to the front, Holly and Amy waited for what seemed like forever for the show to start. After seeing the opening acts, it suddenly began to get more packed. Holly and Amy were almost crushed up against the barrier, however were both excited for the show to start. All Amy could think of during the show was how electric the atmosphere was. The crowd were insane, and the band themselves were amazing. Amy had to keep grabbing onto Holly, as occasionally, the lead singer, Alex would keep winking at her, and Holly would almost faint.
Once the show was over, the crowd started to thin out, and Amy could finally breathe.
“Come on Amy! We need to get to the stage door to meet them!” Holly practically shouted at her, Amy just laughed and shook her head.
“Holly, you have school tomorrow, you can’t be going in late again”
“So what, I’ll only get a warning, the teachers love me, plus it’ll all be worth it to meet the loves of my life!” Holly grinned and skipped away towards the stage door.
The pair were stood there for 20 minutes, with a group of fans patiently waiting, when finally, they emerged from the stage door greeted with a few screams. Holly grabbed onto Amy’s arm and nearly pulled it out of the socket
“Amy, oh my God, can you believe they’re right there?! I’m about to meet All Time Low!” she squealed. Amy stood to the side as the fans were hugging and taking pictures with the band. She laughed to herself as Alex approached Holly. It may have been dark, but Amy could see Holly’s cheeks turn bright red as she hugged him and took a picture with him.
“And what’s your name?” Amy heard someone approach her. She snapped out of her thoughts and looked up at the man
“Amelia, my cousin calls me Amy though” she responded, pointing in the direction of her younger cousin. It’s only when Amy’s eyes adjusted to the lighting that she recognised that familiar blonde stripe through the stranger’s hair, the guitarist.
“Amy… I like the name. It suits you” Amy stood there blushing like an idiot and barely mumbled out a thanks.
“So Amy, what brings you here then? It doesn’t look like you’re interested in the rest of the band” he said, almost hurt.
“I’m here with my cousin, Holly. She’s a huge fan so I came with her to see you guys. If I’m honest, I’d never really heard of you, but after that show, I will definitely be going out to buy your albums. That show was killer!” Amy felt like an idiot admitting to him that she had never really heard of them, however tried to remain calm in his presence.
“Oh good, for a second I thought you were just some stranger who came to stare at all the kids” he winked. Amy’s jaw almost fell open, however she couldn’t help the laugh that escaped her mouth.
“So what’s your name, mystery man with skunk hair” she smirked. “The name’s Barakat. Jack Barakat” he smirked, taking her hand and placing a gentle kiss.
So I know this chapter is slightly boring, but it's just to get things started off. Honestly, if it's bad, I gladly welcome criticism. I will be trying my hardest to update this story as much as possible :) If I do not update for a while, it just means that I am probably busy as I have just started back at University. Enjoy.
