I Wanna Feel Weightless

She is pretty.

Jack

The party had started an hour ago, and I was still hung up on accidentally calling Nikki pretty. Yes, she is very pretty, but I didn’t mean to let that slip out. I hated when important things in my mind slip out when I don’t want them too. Yes, I was most likely going to be a honry drunk tonight, and tell her anyways, but I would rather be drunk and embarrass myself than be sober and embarrass myself.

“Hey Jack. You alright man?” Alex asked as he sat next to me.

“No.” I said bluntly, taking another swig of my beer.

“What’s up?”

“I called Nikki pretty when you guys went out and got the chips for the party.”

“So what? You do think she’s pretty.”

“Yeah, but I didn’t want her to know that.” I sighed as I looked up and looked in the direction I knew Nikki was dancing in. She left my side about twenty minutes ago. I noticed a guy kept trying to dance with her, a guy I didn’t know, which makes it worse. She looked to be trying to push him away from her. “Alex, who is that guy?” I asked nodding my head over to him. He looked over and looked confused.

“I have no fucking clue. Guess that’s what happens when you invite the whole fucking school.” He chuckled. Well, I wasn’t going to just sit here and watch this go down. I got up off the couch and told Alex I’ll catch up with him later. I weaved my way in and out of the dancing, sweating bodies and reached Nikki and the guy. I grabbed her arm and pulled her over to me gently.

“Hey! I was dancing with her!” The guy complained.

“Yeah, well you can keep your fucking hands off my girlfriend.” I spat. I know what your thinking. Did I really mean to say girlfriend? Yes. Yes, I did. Around here, it’s basically the only way to get someone off of someone, so it had to be said.

“Sorry man. Didn’t know she was yours.” The guy said as he backed up. I pulled Nikki back to the couch and we sat down. We were both still pretty sober, I only am on my second beer of the night, and I believe Nikki only had that one that we gave her before everyone else got her.

“Girlfriend?” She asked with a confused face.

“Don’t think about it. I had to say it to get him away from you. I saw you trying to push him. Oh, and what happened to staying by my side all night? You were worried about me leaving you, but instead, you left me.” I chuckled at the end, as I was joking around with her.

“Well, I tried to get you to come and dance with me, but you wouldn’t!” She laughed. She wasn’t wrong, I did turn the dancing down when she asked me. She pulled her phone out of her pocket and looked at the time. “It’s getting pretty late, do you mind driving me home?”

“Why not just stay the night? I always stay in Alex’s guest room. You can stay in there with me.” I said with a smile.

“Okay, let me just walk upstairs and call my Mom and let her know I’m not coming home tonight.” She said. I nodded my head and watched as she went up the stairs safely.

Notes

Sorry my chapters are pretty short. I just wanted to get something out, but didn't want to write very long.

All these stories with an aggressive Jack make me feel so weird. I can't imagine him like that at all, especially in high school. He was like a twig xD

@aweirdkindofyellow
It is indeed!
