Chapter Twenty
Jack
I smiled up at the dark house, it was strange but at least I was home. Tour life is fun but it's always nice to see the face of my fiance and of my kids. I waved to Matt once more as I unlocked the front door, walking into the darkened house. I put my bags by the door and flicked on the lights. The TV wasn't on, Alex wasn't asleep on the couch. I climbed the stairs carefully, afraid to wake the kids. Maybe Alex had gone up to bed. I opened the door softly and all I could see was the bed made, no one lying in it.
Matt was right, it was a risk and I had chosen the wrong decision. They had left me, all alone, trying to find someone better than me. I threw myself into the bed, exhausted. I would call Alex tomorrow and apologize for everything. I would try to get him to forgive me for everything I had done, all the promises that I had broken.
I woke up to my phone ringing. I groaned and leaned over, putting it to my ear. I grumbled a response, hoping it was loud enough for the other person to register it.
"Jack, get out of bed and open the door, I've been ringing the doorbell for ten minutes," Rian said into the phone.
I hung up and pulled sweatpants on so I wasn't only in boxers. I walked to the door, opening it and seeing my kids smiling faces. I picked them both up and kissed their foreheads. I stepped aside so Rian could walk in with their bags. Why did Rian have my kids?
I put them down and they immediately ran somewhere in the house. I took the bags from Rian and motioned that he followed me. I set them down with mine, I'd sort all the laundry out later. I met my fiance's best friends eyes and knew that he knew everything.
"Where is Alex," I asked suddenly.
"Australia," he replied bluntly.
"Did he leave me?"
"No, he's in love with you. He just needed to take care of himself and he decided now was the right time. He'll be gone for two months."
"Rian, I'm sorry. For everything."
"Alex is the one you need to apologize to."
He got off the couch leaving me alone with my kids. I walked into the kitchen and began to make food for them. I wanted Alex home but he too needed a break, we all did. In only two months I would get to see the love of my life again. Then we could start to talk about this wedding.

Sorry it's really short but Jack's reaction and everything. This is probably gonna be my last update for today cause homework and stuff. I'm not only limited by creativity but also by my school's wifi which is the main reason this update is so short. It's been spotty all day so I'm quickly doing this while I have it.
