Later turned out to be not that long, at least not as long as I’d planned on giving her. I knew her limitations, she needed time to think. A lot had been discussed and realized and with her heart and her mind she’d never be able to wrap herself around all that had been said in a few measly hours. But, instead of leaving for Baltimore like I should have, I’d gotten myself a room in a hotel not that far from Demi’s apartment and ordered room service for myself while making full use of the minibar in my room. After eating my steak dinner and guzzling through three beers I went to take a reluctant shower, I didn’t want to stop smelling like her. And that’s when there was a knock on my door. I groaned and got out of the glass doored shower without bothering to turn the water off and wrapped a towel around my hips. Stupid fucking maid service, does the ‘do not disturb’ sign mean nothing?
I opened the door, about to bitch at some puny little maid when instead I got an eyeful of wavy brown hair and dark green eyes. I eyed her casually while the two of us stood in the silence, she was wearing a pair of dark jeans, a tank top and flip flops. She was holding her purse strap in her left hand and her lower lip was quivering slightly. I think I scared her. The thought made me frown and step back, shaking my head. “Hi.” I said softly, running my hand through my hair.
Her eyes slowly fell down my body, she took in my towel and my wet skin, and bit her lip. “I’m sorry for bothering you…I really didn’t mean to intrude like this.” Her breath smelled like alcohol.
“You’re not bothering me,” I stepped back and let her in. “Let me go turn the water off and put pants on.”
She nodded and sat on the bed. I frowned and went to the bathroom, turning the water off. When I returned to her, I caught her with her head in her hands and sobs escaping her lips. I knelt before her and put my hands on her cheeks, tipping her face up. “Kenz?”
“I don’t want to talk.” Was all she said. And then her arms were around my neck and our mouths met and we kissed and touched as I laid her back on the bed. But that was all we did. She fell asleep almost immediately. And I just laid there, with my arms around her, until I fell asleep.

“You. Did. What!?” Rian yelled at me, towering over me as I sat on his girlfriend’s couch, my head in my hands. For someone so docile and so easy going when you piss him off he’s one nasty little jackass. “Alex! Are you fucking kidding me?! Do you have ANY idea what Zack’s going to do with you when he finds out what you did? You’re gonna die!”
“I know!” I groaned and pressed my face even more into my hands. “But she kissed me back. She opened herself to me. She kissed me.”
Rian shook his head and paced back and forth in front of me, his hands clasped behind his back. Whatever hardness he was trying to keep in his expression faded into a puzzled grin and he sat down next to me. “How did it feel?”
“How did what feel?” I couldn’t help the quizzical smile on my face as I thought of the last time we had this conversation. He was the first person I’d told about kissing Kenz all those years ago, he was also the first person who I’d talked to about things we’d done afterwards.
Rian grinned the same way I did and shrugged one of his shoulders. “Her?”
I couldn’t help the laugh that barked from my lips and the shake of my head that accompanied it. “It felt right…she was there…in my arms. I didn’t open my eyes and see Lisa in front of me.” I couldn’t help the sly grin on my face. “And she slept….all night she was right there. And then when I woke up she was gone but she wasn’t like vanished or anything. Her perfume was still on the pillows.” I was grinning.
“So what are you going to do?” He asked, smiling at me. He was happy for me.
“Win her back.”
