Be Careful What You Wish For

A Scratch on a Face

Selene enters her first period class. She’s the first one in the room, and that makes her let out the breath that she’d been holding. She prefers to be the first one because then she gets to sit in the seat that she prefers in the front of the class. When she’s in the front, she doesn’t get bullied as much because the teacher can see. When she’s in the back, the other students that are next to her whisper rude comments to her and throw paper at her with the same words written on them.
She walks over to her seat and sits down. Soon enough other students start filing in. The teacher isn’t in the room yet, so they start making fun of her. WIth every word said, the more she sinks down into herself. Every word is a blade cutting into her skin, and if it isn’t for the bands she listens to, she would be doing that everyday when she gets home.
Normally, when she feels this low, she’ll pull out her song book and start writing lyrics, but she can’t do that while she’s being made fun of. She knows that they’ll grab her book and start reading the lyrics out loud. She had something similar happen to her when she pulled out her ipod to listen to one day when they were allowed.
Selene pulled out her ipod and started to look through her music to see what she was in the mood for. This was the first time that their teacher let students listen to music and get on their phones. This was also the last.
“What are you listening to, you little whore?” Becky asked.
Becky used to be Selene’s best friend. When Selene started getting made fun of and Becky had a shot at dating a member of the football team, she decided that she would tell everyone Selene’s secrets and laugh at her with everyone.
“She has posters in her room of all of these band members, and she kisses her favorite ones before she goes to bed.”
“She has a teddy bear that she has to sleep with every night even when she goes to someone elses house.”
“She always tells me that she’s not afraid of the dark. She’s afraid of what’s in the dark which is the same thing.”
After that, her friend bleached her black hair blonde and started to wear contacts so that all the boys could see her striking blue eyes. Becky started to dress different too and started listening to pop and rap. She used to be into the same kind of music as Selene and dressed the same. Sometimes they would go to school and find out that they wore the same outfit. Their relationship was as close as Jack Barakat was to Alex Gaskarth.
Or so Selene thought...
“Nothing,” Selene answered Becky’s question. This was when she still had the guts to talk back.
Becky’s face turned to one of anger. She was sick of this girl trying to act all high and mighty when she was just an ant that anyone could and should step on. She ripped the ipod out of Selene’s head since the teacher had gone out of the room.
“Give it back,” Selene said as she got up.
Becky’s friends held her back, so she could name all of the bands on her ipod. She named every single one of them with a face of disgust even though she once listened to them as well. “What the hell is all of this crap? No wonder no one wants to hang with you. You have to be really messed up in the head to listen to this kind of stuff.” She threw the ipod to the ground as hard as she could and stepped on it just to make sure that it was broken.
“Becky Campbell!” the teacher yelled when she got back into the classroom.

The other students hate her even more because of that day. They cannot have days like that anymore, and the teacher is in the classroom a lot more as well.
As Selene’s 7th period class comes, she’s more than happy. She’s a library aid and the best one at the job. When she’s in there, students can’t make fun of her because the librarian is always by her because she teaches library to the middle schoolers as one of their specials. She also gets to write in her notebook. No one can take her notebook as long as the teacher is there. Besides, most of the popular students won’t step foot in there. They’ll only come in if they have to print something and the other teachers won’t let them on their computer. They normally don’t make any remarks even if the teacher is there because the middle schoolers are there. The high schoolers may make fun of her, but the middle schoolers lover her. She’s kind and doesn’t yell at them. Besides, she’s older than them, and they know that you don’t say things to high schoolers even if they are made fun of. Plus her sister is in the grade that she is in.
Of course, nothing goes right when it comes to Selene’s life.
She’s about to step foot into her safe zone when she’s being pulled away from it. She is dragged to the closest bathroom by a group of girls. Selene just knows that Becky is behind all of this. Her thoughts are proven right when she’s standing in the center of the bathroom waiting for her. Selene is thrown in front of her. She gets up and tries to run out, but the other girls grab her and throw her back down onto the cold tile.
“You little bitch,” Becky sneers at the poor girl. “I thought that you had given up already, but apparently you still think you’re worth the space that you take up and you can still take me down.”
“What are you talking about?” Selene questions.
“You know what I’m talking about! You’re the one that wants me back down to your status again, so you’ll be the only one that I can talk to.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“I know you’re telling everyone that I gave Billy a bj in the faculty closet. Now everyone is starting to think I’m some kind of slut because I’m dating Luke, who is now starting to doubt our relationship.” She picks me up and has the other girls hold me. “Did you really think that this would go unpunished?”
“I didn’t do it though. I don’t talk to anyone, so how would it come from me?”
“I heard that the rumor started in the middle school,” her new best friend, Kate says. Kate is probably the one that started the rumor in the first place. “We all know that you’re cool with all the middle schoolers because you’re in the library and you’re sister is in middle school.”
“That doesn’t mean anything. I didn’t do it. I swear.”
“I don’t believe you,” Becky spit in Selene’s face. Her fingers grab onto her chin. “You always scratch your face, so why can’t I? I don’t see the harm in that.” She scratches down the innocent girl’s face with her sharp nails. Blood comes out of the wound. “You little whore. You got blood on my new manicure.” She slaps Selene across the face before having the girls drop her and walking out of the bathroom.
Selene just sits there and cries. She doesn’t even know that she’s been in there for half of the period. After she cleans up the cut, she makes her way to the library and enters it. The librarian stops teaching and goes over to her to warn her because this is the first time she’s been late. She doesn’t do that though when she sees the long scratches down her face that are starting to scab over and her puffy red eyes.
“Selene, what happened?” she asks. Selene doesn’t say anything. “Rose, can you take your sister to the nurse.”
A blonde girl with grey-blue eyes gets up out of her seat and makes her way over to her sister. She’s taller than her sister by more than a few inches. They may be four years apart, but Rose is around 5’7” where her sister is about 5’1”. She’s wearing a White Chapel shirt, yellow skinny jeans, and biker boots.
Rose walks her older sister to the nurses office. Of course, the nurse isn’t there. What a surprise. The secretary comes over to them and looks at the scratches. Selene goes ahead and tells her that she cleaned it out with soap and water. Just to be safe, the secretary puts some disinfectant and it before asking if she wants to call her mom to go home. Selene nods and makes her way over to the phone. This is why she likes the secretary, she’s a lot easier on the kids. If the nurse was here, she would tell her to just go back to class like if nothing happened.
As Selene waits for her mom to get to the school, she is taken to the principal's office. Rose is allowed to stay with her sister because Selene is crying again. She hates herself for doing so, but she can’t stop. Her hands make her way to her hair, and she starts pulling on it and messing it up.
“What happened to your face?” Mr. Harris asks softly to the shorter girl.
“She thought that I spread a rumor about her, so she scratched my face as punishment,” Selene whimpers.
“Can you tell me who did this?”
“No.”
“Why not?”
“She had helpers hold me. If I tell you who any of them are, they’ll do something worse. The whole school makes fun of me as it is. You can’t get everyone in trouble.”
“I can’t believe that I’m asking you this, but have you ever thought of being homeschooled? You’re right. I can’t get everyone in trouble. I can tell that you’re going through a lot. I can tell your mother all about how she can do it for next year. This school year is almost over anyway. Can you stick through all this for a couple of months?”
“Yeah.”
“Ok. Why don’t I walk you and your sister to the front office to wait for your mom? Your sister can go home too. It’s almost the end of the day anyway.”
“Ok.”
The principal talks to her mom when she got to the school. Her mom agrees before the three of them head home. Selene doesn’t say a single thing the whole trip home and after they get home. She just makes her way into her room and gets on her computer. Selene gets this urge to get on her Twitter, so she does. Jack Barakat had just tweeted.
“Can anyone figure out what my dream means. There is a girl but I can’t see her face yet but I can hear her and I keep having this dream”
Selene’s eyebrow raises. There is no way that this has anything to do with the spell she cast, but she decides to ask when he started having them anyway.
“When did you start having this dream?”
She’s surprised. It’s not because he tweets her back afterward, but the date that he tweets back. It’s the day that she had cast the spell. Could it really be all a coincidence?

Notes

I'm annoyed that this chapter is a day late, but I like this chapter. It reminds me of how much I make up as I go. I didn't even think of Becky until I wrote her part. Rose is based on my sister. I chose the letter "r" because her name starts with a "c", and my real name starts with a "d". She really does like White Chapel and wears that outfit. She also likes other music too. She loves Motionless in White, Escape the Fate, Mayday Parade, and Panic! at the Disco. She also likes ATL, so she does like the same music as my character and I. She just has some differences like I like Pierce the Veil, and I love Sleeping with Sirens. She hates Pierce the Veil and thinks SWS is ok.
Anyway, I also have wrote down what will happen in all the chapters up to chapter 14. Chapter 15 will be when things change a little bit, so I'll have to think of stuff after that.
Hope you like the story so far.

@Kisaurousrex
That's actually my goal when I come up with a story. If the story isn't unique, the characters have to be. The deaf one is getting a semi rewrite. I've changed the story completely and the character a little bit for a different band. (Actually I'm stuck on chapter two right now. LOL) I hate it when stories are all the same. That's why I have something different in each one.
I'm really excited to get back into it. One of the things that I did when I was coming up with the story was I fused it with another idea. I may have trouble writing after fifteen, but I don't plan on stopping because I know what the sequel will be like. It won't be as unique, but I haven't actually read one like it.
And I'm happy you like it so much!! :) :) :)

@QueenDes

its very original and thats why i love it! I havent read any stories like yours! You have a deaf character, a character who skin picks! Like, those relatable characters are super hard to come by! So I'm super duper happy you're going to be getting back into this one!!!

@Kisaurousrex
This is so weird. This story has never even come close to my others in subscribers on Mibba, but I was actually planning on working on it again. I started some new stories from a different bandom, and it made me want to write again. I was getting a little bored of writing the same thing. I have to update three other stories before I get to this one, but I actually am going to start writing it again.
And I'm also really happy that you like it! I was always surprised from the lack of readers on Mibba. For once, I'm pretty sure that I have more readers on here. I know for a fact that I have more views.
Anyway, keep your eye open for the next chapter.
