Horseshoes and Hand Grenades

Chapter Twenty Five

The following Friday brought brighter days than anyone had seen in awhile. The sun that shone in the morning surprised everybody, as they had been used to the bleak and bleary days of October. Alex, in particular, was excited about the weather. Jack had texted him that morning, letting him know he had full plans to hang out with Alex after school. He wanted to actually go out for once, since it was finally not raining anymore. Alex was excited for the day to pass all morning, rushing out of his house and making it in time for class, just beating the bell. He chatted with Marissa for a bit, but was eager once again when the bell rang. It was time for math, which meant he saw Jack. The older boy had been quite busy with meetings and practices that week, and Alex was starting to notice the lack of Jack in his life.

Practically skipping into math, Alex put his stuff down and slid into his seat. Jack now sat beside him, since their teacher did not really care much about seating arrangements, as long as they were not too loud. Alex pulled his phone out of his pocket impatiently, beginning to type a now pointless text as he looked up to see Jack enter the room. Deleting the 'Where are' he had started, he put his phone away sheepishly, deciding it was probably a good thing Jack had walked in so soon. Otherwise, he would have gotten a text asking where he was, when he was right outside the classroom. He would have received Alex's message at the same time, and at the same place, that he usually was every single day. Not that Jack would have minded, but Alex knew it would have seemed a little silly. He got excited about Jack, though. He always would.

"Hey," Jack nodded, chuckling when all he received in response from Alex was a wide grin. "What's gotten into you?"

Alex shrugged, resting his head against Jack's shoulder after the older boy sat down. Figuring they had a while until the classroom filled up, Jack ignored the work he was supposed to take out, instead deciding to press a couple kisses to Alex's forehead, before leaning over to place one on his lips. Normally, Jack was not really into doing that sort of stuff at school, but the class was empt- Oh, right. The teacher.

"Boys," Jack and Alex heard a cough from the corner of the room, noticing their instructor exiting the small prep area just outside of their class. "I'd really appreciate if you kept that for outside of school."

Jack could easily tell the older man was not at all being prejudice, as he had warned other couples of different compositions with the same rules before. With this in mind, he simply laughed it off, calling out an apology before turning back to Alex. The blond, on the other hand, seemed a lot more affected by the comment.

"Jack!" Alex whispered, his cheeks flaring, "Why didn't you check if anyone was here before you did that? Now he knows!"

"It's not a big deal," Jack answered, "So what? It wasn't anything bad, and he doesn't care. Don't worry about it, babe."

Huffing in response, Alex mumbled, "Now I don't want him to look at me."

"Believe it or not," Jack voiced with a smile, "If this continues, a lot more people are going to be seeing that eventually. It's what happens when you're in a relationship."

"It's stupid."

"You're just shy, is all. You'll warm up to it."

"You're stupid."

Alex found his friends eating outside for lunch, something which had not happened in a while. He joined them on the slightly damp grass, listening to whatever stories they had to tell this time. Although the weather was exciting, everyone's lives still seemed bland. Lunch time discussions were not nearly as exciting as they were in September, but that was expected from November.

"So," Sam said casually, "What are you guys doing later?"

Both Marissa and Natasha shrugged, while Alex answered with, "Hanging out with Jack, and then maybe with his friends later on."

Turning to Marissa and Natasha, Sam asked the two girls if they wanted to do something in the evening. She seemed quite annoyed by Alex's answer, which was odd, because she was always the one pestering Alex about his relationship. Brushing it off, Alex figured she may have just been a bit frustrated, because she had wanted to include him in her plans. He decided he had been right several minutes later, when the bell rang and Sam said goodbye like nothing had happened.

English and P.E. sped by quickly, until Alex was finally walking up to his locker at the end of the day, where Jack awaited him.

"Where are we going?" Alex asked, as Jack pulled him into a hug.

"I have no idea," Jack replied, "Wherever the weather takes us."

In this case, the weather seemed to be Alex's father. Peter was driving home from work when he passed by the two boys, so he pulled over to curb and asked the pair if they wanted a ride home. Jack was about to decline, when Alex nodded his head.

"Sure, dad, I'm hungry."

During the ride home, Alex's father made small talk, being sure to include Jack. Alex really appreciated how kind both of his parents were to Jack. It did not completely fix everything, but he was glad to know Jack was always welcome in his home if things did not work out with his own parents.

Once inside, the two boys greeted Alex's mother as they headed into the kitchen for snacks. They sat across from each other at the table, picking at some snacks they managed to find around the room. Every so often, Alex would look up, only for Jack to wink at him. He let it happen several times before he finally intervened, not wanting his mother to notice what Jack was doing. Taking their plates and putting them on the counter, Alex took Jack's hand and pulled him past his mother, tugging him up to his room.

"What's your problem?" Alex asked, shutting his door.

"There's no problem," Jack smiled innocently, "What would make you think such a thing?"

"Stop it," Alex grumbled, "Haven't I told you not to do stuff like that around my mum? It's weird, Jack."

"Alright, alright," Jack chuckled, sitting down on Alex's bed and patting the spot next to him. "But I got my point across without words, didn't I?"

"I guess," Alex hummed, taking a seat next to his boyfriend. "You don't have to make it so obvious, though."

"Sometimes you don't get it if I don't make it obvious, though."

"Do I not?"

"Nope." Jack shook his head, placing his hand on Alex's thigh.

"Well," Alex said, his eyes flicking down, "I think I understand now."

"Good," Jack breathed, "Come here, then." He moved backwards on the bed, leaning back against Alex's headboard, as Alex climbed into his lap. Resting his forehead against the smaller boys, Jack pecked his lips softly, smiling when Alex went in for another, better kiss. Several minutes later, Alex pulled away from Jack's lips momentarily, instead pressing his own soft kisses all over Jack's face.

"What're you doing?" Jack laughed, as Alex continued to place another kiss to his cheek.

"Kissin' you. You're so pretty, you know that?" Alex murmured, and Jack laughed again, turning his head to catch Alex's lips with his own once more.

Another small while later, Alex interrupted their make out session to say something quite different.

"What are you doing?"

Jack was inching his hand down the back of Alex's jeans, and was scared he had gone too far when Alex posed said question. "Whatever you want me to do, baby."

"Oh. Well, you can keep going, I think. Your hand is a bit cold, though."

"That's why I'm trying to warm it up."

"Very funny."

Jack continued to test his luck for the next little while, successfully being able to grasp Alex's ass cheek, kneading the warm skin as he massaged the blond's tongue with his own.

"Alright," Alex decided to speak once again, as he felt Jack's fingers straying off from where they once were, only to quickly pass over other areas, instead. "If we're going to do this, we have to do it properly. We need lube."

"I put some in one of your drawers a couple days ago, in the back so no one would find it." Jack nodded over to Alex's nightstand, his eyes quickly moving back to the boy above him. He found it rather odd Alex was being so forward, but at the same time, he was aware how comfortable the younger boy felt with him.

"Seriously, Jack?" Alex giggled, "You're impossible."

"No, I'm prepared. I don't want to hurt you."

"Aren't you sweet."

"Very," Jack said, as Alex reached over to open the drawer. Jack was right, he definitely had left something in there for Alex. "Do you want to stay sitting like this?"

"Yes," Alex nodded, "I like sitting on you. You're comfy."

"Perfect. You have to tell me what you like and what you don't like, okay? I have done this before, but that doesn't mean I'm going to be able to know if I'm hurting you or not. You should take your pants off, too."

"Okay," Alex kept his voice low, standing up and walking over to his door to check that it was locked, before sliding his jeans off.

As Alex climbed back onto the bed, Jack asked, "You're keeping your boxers on?"

"Do you not want me to?"

"Not really, no."

"Oh. Okay," Alex nodded, slipping them off and situating himself back in Jack's lap.

"I quite like this."

"Shut up. This isn't fair, you're fully clothed."

"Do you want me to take my shirt off? We can be opposites."

"Yes," Alex mumbled, letting Jack remove his T-shirt before leaning forward against his chest once again. As he wrapped his arms around Jack's neck, the darker haired boy got to work once again, resuming what they had been doing earlier. Alex was a small bit discomforted at first, and took patience on Jack's end as the younger boy whined and complained, until he was finally comfortable. After only a few bouts of trouble, though, they finally got it right, and Jack quite enjoyed the way Alex let out tiny mewls while he breathed into his ear, as Jack worked his fingers inside of him. The way Alex was simultaneously palming him through his jeans was not such a bad thing, either.

When Jack was finally able to push Alex to the edge, he was surprised when he heard a breathy laugh from the teen, in contrast to the usual shy Alex he got.

"It's a good thing you decided to take your shirt off, huh?"

"Definitely. Could you maybe get me something to clean off my stomach, since it is your fault? And a clean pair of boxers, too."

So much for spending the day outdoors.
