Undercover

Chapter Two

I ran to the back room to my locker and ripped the black jumpsuit from my body. I quickly threw on my black skinny jeans and black Foo Fighters shirt. I put my feet inside the combat boots, which was all I ever seemed to wear shoe wise. I looked in my locker and saw my pistol. I put it between my pants and boxers, using my shirt to cover it. I pulled the taser into my jacket pocket and quickly walked out of the back room.

That's when I ran towards the elevator which was the exit. I felt the ground slowly shift as the elevator slowly rose. It was absolutely silent, it had to be though. The door opened and I stepped out into a smaller room. The roof opened slowly, allowing me to climb out. Once I was finally out I began to walk down the empty street.

I opened my door slowly, just to be safe. Once I deemed it okay to run inside I ran up to my room. I began throwing clothing in a bag. I also grabbed any of the spy supplies I had that I would need and shoved it all into the bag. I had thirty minutes before my parents would get home. I left a note on the tab;e saying I was asleep and locked my room door before jumping out of the second story window. I rolled to ease my fall and began to run through the different backyards, jumping fences when necessary.

I looked up at my best friend's window, it was now or never. I gently threw rocks at it to get his attention. I saw the raven haired boy throw open his window. He gave me a questioning glare, didn't I know what time it is? Didn't I know not to bother his beauty sleep?

"What Gaskarth, it's one am," Jack said sleepily.

"Run away with me Jack please," I said.

"Why?"

"I need to get away. I'll explain why later. You can either come with but I'm leaving and not coming back."

He threw down the rope made out of bed sheets which had been constructed months ago. I climbed up it with ease despite the heavy weight on my back. I sat on Jack's floor watching him run around throwing clothes into a big backpack. He threw it over his shoulder and looked at the rope uneasily.

"Bring the rope in and hide it where you normally do," I told him.

"Then how do we get down," he asked softly.

"Do you trust me?"

He nodded, slowly bringing the makeshift rope into his room. He balled it up and carefully put it in the depths of his closet. He laid clothing over it to hide it. He walked back to me staring at the window with a scared glint in his eye. I put my legs outside the window so I was sitting on the frame.

"Alex, you're gonna hurt yourself if you jump," Jack whispered softly.

"Jack, trust me please," I whispered.

His soft brown eyes flickered down to where I was sitting. He vaguely nodded and returned his eyes to the floor. He was scared, he always seemed to be scared. I shifted my weight to my feet, falling from the second story. I once again rolled to soften my fall. I looked up to the window where Jack was standing, illuminated by only a single light.

"I'll catch you I swear Jack, throw the bag out first," I called up softly.

"Do you promise," he asked.

"Cross my heart."

I heard his bag make a thump on the ground. I saw him sitting in the windowsill. I watched him take a deep breath and let himself fall. I carefully caught him in my arms, holding him like a groom would hold his new wife. I set him down, watching as he collected his backpack.

"Where are we going anyway," he asked after yawning.

"I don't know," I replied.

"So we're just running until we get tired."

"Well at this point I just put a price on my own head. We'll stop running until we either get away or they find us."

"Who are they? What do you mean you put a price on your own head? Are you okay Alex, do you know what you're saying?"

"There's more secrets about the world that we live in then you know. I'll explain when we get further away from civilization. I can't risk getting more people involved than I already did."

"What do you mean?"

"We're gonna hitch a ride on a train near by, we'll see where it takes us. You can't keep asking questions, there won't be time for that. You just need to trust me in what I tell you."

"I do trust you Lex, I think that's the problem."

I took his hand and dragged him off behind the nearby apartment buildings. There were busy train tracks there, it was where we were going to get out ride. I threw my ski mask on and helped Jack into the train car. I pointed to the pile of hay which he quickly buried himself underneath. I climbed up and hid in the shadows near the ceiling.

I heard security walk by outside. They quickly shined a flashlight, barely missing me. They muttered something and walked to the next one. They were checking for stowaways to make sure no one was getting a free ride. My arms began to ache for the position I put them into to keep myself up.

I'm not sure how long it had been until the train lurched to life. I dropped from my hiding place, carefully landing. I pulled Jack out of the hay. I watched as he curled himself in the corner. It was late and he was tired. I sighed, knowing it would be another sleepless night for me. I sat up, next to where Jack was slowly falling asleep.

His soft snores began to mix with the sound of the train barreling down the tracks. Jack curled up next to me in his sleep. I fell into Jack's warmth, letting it take me in like a blanket. That's when I curled up next to my best friend and let sleep take over me for the first time in a long time.

Notes

This is probably going to be the last chapter for the next week. I have to pack and stuff today but if at all possible I'll try to throw another one out tonight. Don't worry, Jack's character is a lot more dynamic than he seems right now. There also won't be any big Jalex for quite a bit, it's going to be a lot slower than any of my other stories.

@Carebear

I really hope I'll get to go to Warped, like all my friends hate the lineup (but I'm in love with it) so I have no one to go with so it really depends on how well I can convince my parents to let me go. I'm glad you like this story, I just got so busy with everything and I'm trying to update some of everything. By mid May I should be able to update twice a week (hopefully)

Woohoo! The three magic words! I hope you get to go to Warped. They won't announce the damn bands until about the middle of March. The dates and locations are up now though. This year should be a really good year because it tends to go every other year with the bands. I am so glad to see that you have so much happy stuff going on. :o)
