Zack’s POV
I couldn’t wait, Y/N, my baby cousin was coming to visit. Even just thinking about her coming made me smile. She has this great boyfriend, and great family and a great future ahead of her. I’m so proud of her. Though she’s not a baby anymore. She’s already 20 years old. Damn, I’m getting old.
The guys and I were going to pick her up from the airport. “I can’t wait to see the little munchkin!” Jack was so excited, he hasn’t stopped talking about it the whole car drive. Rian was sitting up front while I was driving.
Alex put his arm on Jack. “Dude, calm down. I know you haven’t seen her since we’ve all seen her, but calm down.”
Jack looked over at Alex with mock-hurt on his face. “She’s more important to me than you guys though!”
I cleared my throat.
“Oh right,” Jack said. “And Zack.”
“That’s what I thought.” I said. Everyone laughed.
We finally made it to the airport, and Jack and I basically ran past everyone to try and get to her first. We finally got to her gate and waited.
Y/N’s POV
I was nervous getting on the plane. My boyfriend, Noah, always gets super sad whenever I leave him there. But we just couldn’t afford to bring us both all the way out here. I was used to him being sad, though, he always was like this. Ever since we got together, he had always felt like I was going to leave him for someone else. Every day he reminded me that I was his last, that he was nothing without me, and he meant it. I was weary of him being alone, but since we had been living together for quite some time, I figured he’d be okay.
He wanted me to call him or text him as soon as I had landed, so when we landed, the very first thing I did was take my phone off airplane mode, and texted him saying; Hey babe, I landed, hope you’re doing okay <3
When I got through the gate I was too busy looking at my phone that I didn’t see the person I ran into. “Ouch, I’m sorry about that,” I apologized.
“No worries,” a man said to me. I knew that voice.
“Jack?” I asked.
“What?” He was so damn tall that he didn’t know who I was without looking down at me. And he hadn’t.
“Jack it’s me.”
“Who?” He finally looked down at me, and studied me. “Oh my god, Y/N?!”
I smiled. “Yeah, it’s me.”
“I’m so glad you’re here!” He started jumping up and down. “Guys! Guys! I found her!”
Zack came over to me. “Man, fuck you, I wanted to be the one to find her!”
“Sorry man,” Jack smiled down at me. “But finders keepers.”
“You wish.” Zack picked me up off my feet, threw me over his shoulder and carried me away to the car.
“Hey not fair!” Jack calls after us. Everyone else laughed and followed.
We got to Zack’s place and we were all hanging out. Meanwhile, Noah still hadn’t seen my message. We’re like two hours ahead here, it can’t be that late. I was starting to get worried. I shook it off, and went to join the guys out in the living room.
“Y/N!” Jack calls. “Come sit next to me.”
“In your dreams, Barakat.” Zack laughs, and pulls me next to him. “She’s my cousin.”
Jack went to sit down by himself and pretended to sulk. Alex sat next to him instead and laid his head on his lap. Jack stroked his hair and we watched the movie. I laughed to myself. And they wonder why people think they’re gay. I looked at my phone. Still no response. I was sure as hell getting worried now. It’s been three hours since I got off the plane.
When the movie was over, Rian was asleep, Jack and Alex were having a thumb war and Zack was looking at his phone. No one was putting in a new movie. I was just admiring my surroundings when I get a phone call. “Hang on guys, I’m gonna answer this.”
“Okay,” they all mindlessly answer.
I go into the kitchen. “Hello?”
“Hello, is this Y/N?” the voice asked.
“Yes, who is this?”
“Are you currently living with Noah Paskavan?”
“Yes.”
“I have some news for you. Can you get down to the station right away please?”
“No, actually, I’m in Baltimore, Maryland seeing my family. What has happened, what’s wrong?”
“It’s hard to tell you this over the phone, but it’s better sooner than later. Your boyfriend, Noah, he’s dead. As of tonight.”
“Oh my god.. What happened..”
“Suicide. There was a note. I’ll wait for you to get here to read it.”
“Okay..”
“I’m sorry you had to find out this way.”
“Okay.”
“Goodbye.”
“Bye.”
I stood there, unable to breathe. Unable to move. Unable to do anything. I dropped my phone on the ground.
“Y/N?” I heard someone call. “Are you okay?”
I stood in silence for a bit. I didn’t want them to see me like this. “I’m okay,” I called back.
I quickly wiped my tears and tried to regain my self. I went out to the living room again and told them I was going to get pizza. I left and then everything went dull.
Jack’s POV
Y/N told us that she was going out to get pizza. But minutes turned to hours and she still wasn’t there. By this time, Zack, Alex, and Rian had all fallen asleep. It was just me. Y/N hadn’t come back and it was two hours since she left. I was getting worried. But I didn’t want to wake Zack, he’d go absolutely batshit. So I left without waking anyone.
I called her name all through the streets and got no answer. I wandered toward the downtown area, then I heard whimpering on a park bench. “Y/N?” I called.
“Don’t come here Jack,” a voice said. It was her. She sounded as if she were crying.
“What’s wrong, Y/N? Why are you crying?”
“Nothing, I’m okay,” she sniffled.
“Are you sure? Because you don’t sound okay.”
“I’m okay, Jack. Just go away.”
“I’m not going anywhere until you tell me what’s happened.”
She sighed and gave in. I sat down next to her on the bench and she told me what had happened. Everything. She told me of her boyfriend and how he wasn’t holding up so good. And that he had had this problem for awhile. How hard it was to go through it. How hard it was to have to shut out all of her friends because he thought that she could just replace him with them. Now she has no one.
“That’s not true,” I said. “You have all of us. Me, Zack, Alex, and Rian. We’re your family. We’re here for you always.”
She sniffled out an “okay,” and she hugged me really tight.
“Come on, hun.” Let’s go to my place to rest. It’s closer than Zack’s.”
“Did you walk here?”
“Yes,” I admitted, blushing a little.
“Let’s go.”
We got back to my place and I let her take a shower so she could cleanse after being outside for so long. I heard her call my name. “Jack? Jack I need you!”
“I’m here I’m here, Y/N,” I called to her. “What do you need?”
“I need you,” she sniffled. “But first I need clothes.”
“Hang on, I’ll be right there.”I went to grab her my BONER shirt and some pajama pants for her. “I have them, hun can I come in?”
“Close your eyes.”
I closed my eyes and opened the door and handed her the clothes.
“Thank you,” she said in a quiet voice. After a while she spoke again. “You can look now.” I opened my eyes, and she was standing before me. In my clothes, she was even more beautiful. Probably because she’s in my clothes. I can’t look at her much longer without blushing. I looked away. “what’s wrong?” she asked.
“Nothing r-really,” I stammered. “Let’s go lie down.”
She followed me to the couch, and we laid together. I stroked her hair, and tried to calm her thoughts. “What do you think will help you feel better?”
“I don’t know. Maybe if we just lie here and talk.”
“Okay, hun. Just know that after everything you’ve been through, you will always have me, okay? I will always be here. Forever.”
“Okay,” she whispered, her head resting on my chest, listening to my breathing. I stroked her hair until she fell asleep. Moments after, I fell asleep as well. We lied there all night, and for a moment, I think I made her truly happy for the first time in a long time.
Zack’s POV
