Jack Barakat Imagines

Taking Care of Jack

Your POV

I was waiting patiently for Jack to pick me up for our date. And by patiently, I mean looking out the window every five seconds for his car. I wasn’t excited. I was fucking ecstatic. Jack had called me yesterday and asked if I could go out with him tonight. Of course I said yes.
I was wearing a knee-high black and white dress that had a square -like pattern over it. It was a v-neck and I wore converse with it. My hair was curled to be bouncy and wavy.
After the millionth time of looking out the window, I saw Jack’s car pull up. I was so excited, I didn’t even wait for him to get to my door, and immediately went outside.
I got to his car and I didn’t even wait for him to open my door for me. I just got in the passenger seat. He looked over at me. “Excited?” He chuckled.
“Yes,” I giggled. His voice was a bit hoarse, but I dismissed it.
We drove up to a Sonic to get dinner first. It was my favorite place, and he was willing to get it for me. I was happily drinking my milkshake when I noticed he hadn’t got anything.
“Jack, how come you’re not eating anything?” I asked him.
“I’m not hungry,” he said simply.
“But you’re always hungry.”
“Not always.”
“Do you want something else? Cuz we could go anywhere else. If you want to go to Taco Bell, we can.”
“No that’s not it,” Jack sighed. “I’m just not hungry.”
“Okay love.” I looked up at him through my eyelashes and noticed that he was slightly pink. “What’re you thinking about?”
He looked away from me. “Nothing.”
“Please Jack?”
“Just you.”
“What about me?” I could feel my grin over my whole face.
“Forget about it, Y/N.” He slid in his seat and started the car as if we were going to go somewhere.
“I can’t,” I whined.
“Yes you can, try harder.” He started to drive towards the cinema. “What do you want to watch?”
He was great at changing the subject. “I don’t know, you choose.”
“You choose.”
“You.”
“You.”
“This is getting us nowhere, Jack.” I exhaled.
He laughed a bit at my stubbornness. “That’s because you won’t cooperate.”
“You’re the one not cooperating.”
“We could either argue about who’s not cooperating or we could watch a movie.”
“We’d have to choose a movie first.”
“True,” Jack agreed. We were stopped at a red light and he looked over at me and smiled. I could hardly restrain myself from kissing him, but we both knew how that was going to go. Instead I just smiled back.
“Why don’t we just go to the park?” I suggested.
“Great idea,” he happily agreed. Jack all of a sudden made a U-turn, and neither me nor the other cars on the road knew what in the hell he was doing. My fault for letting him drive. I giggled to myself.
We got to the park and Jack opened the door for me this time, simply because I let him. He grabbed my hand and we started ahead on our walk. It was dark out and it was basically just us out there.
Jack stopped for a bit and I turned around to see what he was doing. He was bent over, holding his stomach.
“Jack, are you okay?” I asked him with concern.
“I’m fine,” he reassured me. I didn’t feel so sure and went to see what he was doing. He was coughing and I patted his back so he could get it out.
When he stood back up, he glanced over at me. I noticed a remanence of blood on his lip, and he quickly wiped it off.
“I don’t think you’re okay.”
“What makes you think that?”
“You’re coughing up blood, you look like you don’t feel well.”
He pouted and stared at me for awhile. “But I don’t want to say goodnight to you so soon.”
“Neither do I,” I smiled. “I have an idea.”
He glanced around nervously then his eyes wandered back to me. “What is it?”
“We’re going back to my place.” I didn’t wait for him to agree or disagree, and took his hand and brought us back to his car. I put him in the passenger seat, and I took the wheel. “I’m gonna take care of you,” I grinned at him.
After ten minutes of driving through a symphony of coughs, we finally arrived at my house. I didn’t want to go to Jack’s because if I was going to be taking care of him, I’d probably need to know where things were.
I helped him inside my house, and he got considerably paler. I brought him over to the couch and laid him over on his side so he didn’t choke. This was like the sickest I’ve ever seen anyone.
“Y/N,” he called in a raspy voice.
“Yeah?”
“I’m sorry I ruined our date.”
“You didn’t ruin anything.” I went over to him to bend down and look at his face. He smiled lightly.
“I knew I was sick but I didn’t want to cancel anything, so I just went anyway.”
I kissed his nose. “I think that was sweet of you. But since we can’t really do anything about it now, I want you to lay back down and let me wait on you.”
He nodded and I went to the kitchen. Coughing up blood wasn’t usually a good sign of anything, but the hospitals general admittance were closed, and it wasn’t serious enough to go to the emergency room. I looked around the kitchen for something that would help. My first thought was medicine, but all I really had was cold medicine.I grabbed it anyway and a glass of water. I brought it to him and he took it gratefully. I smiled as he finished off the water.
“Do you want some soup?”
He nodded and grinned as I went to grab some. I figured chicken noodle soup would work well. It took a couple minutes, and when it was done, I put some toast on the plate with it. When I brought it out to him, he had passed out. I giggled to myself. Even though he wasn’t feeling very good, he was cute as hell. I put the food down on the side table and shook him to wake him up.
“Jack, we should go upstairs to my room.”
He groaned in response, and I helped him up again. I dragged him to my room and he flopped face first on the bed. I laughed and went to put on a movie for background noise. Jack made another noise and I poked his shoulder.
“I want my clothes off but I’m too weak to do it,” he mumbled into my bed sheets.
“Do you want me to help?” I asked, getting close to his face.
He groaned again and I grabbed his shirt and pulled. “Ow.”
I laughed and continued to help him undress. “If you want to get better, you have get in the sheets.”
“Where’re you going to be?” he asked genuinely confused.
“In the bed with you?”
“You’d be next to me, even though I’m dying?”
“Jack you’re not dying.”
“You don’t know that.” He climbed under my blankets and waited for me to put my pyjamas on. I slipped in next to him and pressed play. “What’re we watching?”
“Your favorite,” I responded as I rubbed my hand up and down his bare back.
He sighed in content and snuggled up to my side, putting his arm around my waist and closing his eyes. “Thank you so much, Y/N,” he breathed into my clothes.
“You’re welcome, babe.” I kissed his head and we laid there until we both fell asleep in each other’s arms with the TV still on.
