Epilogue.

Layla

Twenty Years Later.

“Babe! You ready yet?” The voice of my husband, Jack, rung through the house. I walked down the stairs and made my way into the living room where I saw two of my favorite people in the world. My husband. As well as my son. Who was the age of seven.

“I’m ready, let’s go you two handsome boys.” I said with a giggle. “Wait, where is my other child?”

“Jayla! Get down here! Were ready to go!” Jack shouted. I heard footsteps on the steps and down came my beautiful sixteen year old daughter.

“I’m here. Chill out, Dad.” Jayla spoke. Yes, we always planned on naming our daughter Jayla, ever since Kaitlin came up with Jack and my ship name at my eighteenth birthday party.

“You look very beautiful, Jay-Jay.” I said as I smiled over to her.

“Thanks Mom. You look amazing as well.” She returned my smile.

“Okay, everyone to the car!” I said as I opened the door and let my two children walk out, being followed by the man of my dreams, who stopped by the door and bent down and placed a kiss on my lips as I locked the door behind us. We were currently on our way to Alex and Lisa’s house for a family cookout. We all got in the car and Jack got in the driver’s seat. Over the years, I have got used to him driving. But I was still a little iffy about it with the kids in the car. I reached over to our CD’s and pulled out All Time Low’s Future Hearts album and put it in. Once it started up, our whole family was jamming out to it in the car. I looked in the mirror and saw my two wonderful children rocking out, singing all the lyrics. I loved that they love their Father's band. I loved that they loved all the bands Jack and I liked.
Jack continued to drive down the road till we reached the house I grew up in, well, starting at the age of seventeen, and ending at the age of Twenty. Since I moved in with Jack after we found a nice family house to raise the kids in. We all piled out of the car and made our way to the backyard of the house. Once we got back there, I saw everyone. Everyone being, Alex, Lisa, their son Camden, Kaitlin, her wife Lily, Zack, Rian, Cassadee, Chris, Jasper, and Brent, who all came with their wives.

“What does a girl need to do to get a drink around here?!” I shouted, getting everyone to look over at us.

“I should have known you would make an entrance like that.” Jack chuckled.

“Mom! Don’t do that! It’s so embarrassing!” Jayla complained.

“Oh hush. No one here cares if you get embarrassed. In fact, everyone here has seen you naked when you were a child.” I said looking over to my daughter.

“Mom!” Jayla hid her face in her hands.

“Oh stop it Jayla, everything is fine.” Jack said with another chuckle.

“Hey family!” Alex said as he came over to us.

“Hey Dad.” I said bringing him into a hug. Yes, I started calling him Dad. I started about two months after the whole thing that happened with Keith back when I was eighteen. I looked up and saw Lisa was making her way over to us.

“Hey Mom.” I said, also bringing her in for a hug.

“Hey sweetheart.” She said as she released me. Jack poked my side to get my attention. When I looked over to him, he pointed the other way, and I saw Jayla and Mason, the son of Zack and his wife Mary, flirting it up with each other.

“I wish they would just quit with the flirting and go out with each other already.” Lisa spoke.

“I totally agree.” I said as I nodded my head. “In fact, I think I’m just going to go do something about it. Be right back.” I started to walk away but I felt myself being pulled back. I looked up and saw Jack pulled me back to his side. “Jack!”

“You are not setting MY daughter up on a date.” He said. Yes, he was the protective kinda Dad.

“Fine. The least you can do is give me a kiss.” I said with a smile. He let go of my hand and bent down as he closed his eyes. When he closed his eyes I quickly ran away from him and made my way other to Jayla and Mason.

“That was a rude move, Layla!” Jack shouted across the yard. I giggled as I stood next to Jayla and Mason.

“Mom, what do you want?” Jayla asked.

“Oh, I just wanted to say something real quick.” I said. They nodded their heads, telling me to go on. “Mason, Jayla likes you. Jayla, Mason likes you. So, how about you guys set a date up this Friday?”

“Mom!” Jayla spoke as her cheeks lit up a light pink color.

“Just stating a fact. You guys are more than welcome to go on a date together. Now, I better get back over to your Father before he comes over here and drags me away. Love ya hun!” I said as I turned around and walked away. I walked slowly so I could hear them talk.

“So, do you happen to be free this Friday?” Mason spoke.

“I sure am.” Jayla said. I walked away faster and got back to my husband, son, and parents a second later.

“So?” Lisa asked.

“They got a date together this Friday.” I said with a huge smirk.

“Yes!” Lisa said high-fiving me.

“Alex, is this how you felt when I told you I liked Layla?” Jack asked him.

“Yep. And you will continue to feel like that for the rest of your life.” Alex sighed. Lisa and I chuckled till I felt a small hand grab mine. I looked down and saw Connor pulling on my hand. I bent down so I was level with him.

“What’s up handsome?” I asked.

“I’m tired.” Connor said as he rubbed his eye.

“But you just took a nap before we came here.”

“But I’m still tired.”

“Fine, come here.” I said picking him up. For a seven-year-old, I could still carry him around. I put my arms around him and he laid his head on my shoulder.

“You are such a good Mother.” Jack said as he bent down and placed a kiss on my lips.

“Oh, Layla!” The voice of my best friend rung, as she dragged out the ‘a’ sound. I turned around and saw Kaitlin and Lily were making there way over to us.

“Here babe, I’ll take him.” Jack said as he reached out for our son. I handed Connor over to Jack and Connor placed his head on his shoulder. I smiled at the sight in front of me and turned back around to go meet my best friend. I walked about ten feet and meet them in the middle of the yard.

“Hey sexy!” Kaitlin said as she brought me into a hug.

“Hey beautiful!” I said with a laugh as I returned her hug. It wasn’t much that I got to see Kaitlin anymore. She moved back to California to go live in her old house, when she hit the age of twenty-five. But she wasn’t alone, she had Lily with her. We both let go of the hug at the same time and I turned to Lily. “Hey Lily.” I spoke as I brought her in for a hug as well.

“Hey Layla.” She replied as she returned my hug. Kaitlin, Lily, and I continued to talk for a few minutes till I looked to my right and saw Chris was running over to me. I tried to run away, but before I could make it back over to Jack, Chris picked me up and threw me over his shoulder and started walking away with me.

“Ahh! Dammit Chris!” I said as I laughed.

“Uncle Chris! What are you doing with my Mom?!” I heard Jayla shout.

“I’m taking her to a far away place! Well, the faraway place is about thirty feet in front of us. That way she will talk to Jasper, Brent, and I.” Chris shouted as he continued to walk. I laughed the whole time I was being carried, once Chris stopped walking, he put me down on the ground, and I was met by Brent, Jasper, Megan(the head cheerleader from high school, who is now the wife of Brent), Faith(who is the wife of Jasper), and Stacy(who is the wife of Chris).

“You are a asshole, you know that right, Chris?” I asked as I turned to look at my friend.

“I know. But you love me.” He said as he placed his arm on my head, as he towers over me. Everyone tends to tower over me.

“Stacy, what’s the rule on murdering your husband?” I asked her.

“Layla, we go over this every time we meet. Like I always say, never do it with other people around, that way we can put the blame on someone else.” She laughed.

“Okay. Right, I’ll remember that.” I giggled. I continued to talk to them for about ten more minutes till I felt an arm around my waist.

“Sorry everyone. But I’m going to have to take my wife away.” I heard Jack’s voice say. They all nodded in understanding and I said a quick good-bye to them before turning around and taking the hand of my wonderful husband. We walked and I noticed he no longer had our son.

“Wait, where is our child?” I asked as I stopped walking and looked away. Jack chuckled and pointed over to Rian and Cass. “Holy shit. Why is he so hyper? What did you give him?”

“Chocolate milk.” He said with a smirk.

“Fine, but you are the one that is putting him to bed tonight.” I said as I rolled my eyes at him. He nodded in agreement and brought me into his arms.

“You know Layla, the minute I saw you I fell in love with you.” He spoke.

“Is that so?”

“Yep. And I’m glad you choose me over everyone else in the world. I honestly don’t know what I would be doing with my life right now if I didn’t have you, or my amazing family you gave me. For that, I thank you.”

“I should be the one who is thanking you. You saved me multiple times over the years. Jack, I love you, and I love this family we have together.” He smiled down at me and placed a soft, passionate kiss on my lips. We were only kissing for about ten seconds when we were interrupted.

“Okay! No more making out in the middle of the yard! There are children here!” The voice of Alex came. I looked over to him and raised my eyebrows at him.

“You just don’t want us kissing because I’m your daughter, and he is your best friend!” I shouted over to him. Making Jack chuckle.

“Damn right!” Alex spoke.

“Never going to let that one go, are ya?” Jack shouted over to him.

“Nope!” Alex shouted, as he popped the ‘p’ sound.

“Mom! Control him!” I shouted over to Lisa.

“You did your thing, hun! If Lex says anything else I’ll just slap the back of his head to make him shut up!” She laughed as she spoke.

“Thanks Mom!” I said, also laughing. Everyone else in the yard was also laughing. I looked back up at the man I love and looked into his eyes.

“I love you Jack Bassam Barakat. And I always will.”

“And I love you, Layla Nicole Barakat. Forever and Always.” He spoke, before placing another kiss on my lips.

Yep, life is good.
