Shut your mouth cause I can see through the lies we're only getting sicker from the secrets we hide.

"Baby, are you sure," I asked the red haired woman as she stood on the doorstep.

"As ready as I'm ever going to be," she said.

I watched as she knocked on the door timidly. I could feel the fear emanating off of her.It was understandable and I would be if I were in her shoes. I was more angry than scared though. I was ready to jump on him if he was going to hurt her again. I'd let him do it before but it wouldn't happen again. Not on my watch. No one is ever going to hurt my angel again.

"I'll get it," a man's voice said softly from behind the door.

The door opened and a brunette man with an eyebrow ring was standing in the doorway with a confused look on his face. The man looked completely unfamiliar, who was he? Did we have the wrong house?

"Babe, did you invite company over," he asked.

That's when he came into view. His blonde hair was now kept really short and his green eyes were still bright and full of light. He looked at me and realized who we were.

"Come on in guys, Kev, can you get us some drinks," Mitch asked, kissing the mans cheek.

"Got it baby," he said, blushing at the gesture.

I followed Mari into the house, gripping her hand tightly. She was extremely tense as we walked in. I could only imagine what was going through her mind right now. I bet she was worried for her safety, I would be. He was a stick of TNT, lit from both ends. We were waiting for him to explode in his typical angry fashion.

The brunette put drinks on the table and took a seat next to Mitch. Mitch wrapped his arms around the man's waist. It was obvious that they were in love. The other man seemed to be okay, he had no signs of being hit or anything. From what I knew about Mitch that was strange.

Well we're standing in the aftermath of emptiness is what's left.

"Mari, Jack, I never thought I would see you again," Mitch said softly.

"I'm trying to make amends and make things right," Mari whispered.

"Why, you have a full like ahead of you to do that. Why, in your thirties, are you starting? Typically you do it when you're young or when you're old. Not when you are in the middle of your life."

"It isn't the middle of my life Mitch."

"What are you talking about?"

"She has cancer," I said.

"Mari, what," Mitch said in pure concern.

"How do you guys know each other," Kev asked.

"We dated back in highschool and our relationship had some... problems..." Mitch said.

"Yeah, abuse is a pretty big fucking problem," I muttered.

"WHAT," Kev screamed.

"I was young and stupid and confused. It made sense at the time. I really can't explain it. I can't justify it. I'm still so upset that I ever did it. She was so beautiful, so out of my league. I made her believe that I was out of her league. It was the only way I thought I could keep her. Instead it made her find her true love," Mitch said.

"You could say that. Our relationship hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows. You can find a video of what I'm talking about on YouTube. Just look for Jack screaming at Alex. You'll find what I mean," Mari whispered.

"Anyway, we aren't here to bring up the pain from the past. We're here to get over the past. Over look it," I said.

"Mitch, I forgive you. I know I shouldn't but I do. Without it I would have never met Jack and never had Josie. I forgive you," she said softly.

I will forgive, forgive cause I know that it will set me free.

Notes

I really don't like this chapter but it is the best written version I have of it. The return of Mitch though. So, he has a boyfriend now. I don't have a lot to say.
