So Far Away

Epilouge

"Your mom would be so proud," my dad said, tears falling from his eyes.

"I wish she could've been here," I whispered softly.

"We all do. I know her biggest concern that day was you. I know that if she could have been she would be here."

I looked up at my father who had just finished fixing my veil. The blonde strip in his hair was dyed red to match the color theme of the wedding. I sighed and fixed his hair slightly and hair sprayed it back into place. I turned back to the mirror and made sure that my make up looked fine.

"Dad, do you think I look alright," I asked.

"You look like a princess. You know Bailey wouldn't care if you were getting married in sweatpants," he laughed.

"Thanks Dad, we need to head over don't we?"

He stuck out his hand and I grabbed it. I walked with him to the door that would open and I'd see my beautiful fiance. I could see the tears in my dad's eyes as he was about to pass me to the love of my life for the rest of our lives. I looked up at the sky and hoped that Mom was looking down on us smiling.

I took a deep breath as the doors swung open. I only started walking because my dad did. Bailey looked beautiful in her pale pink dress at the altar. I couldn't help but smile at her from where I was standing. I couldn't believe that she agreed to marry me. As I walked towards the altar Bailey's parents were smiling at me, giving me a thumbs up.

"You know I love you," I whispered to her.

"Love you too. Can we meet your mom now," she asked.

"Yeah, we can."

We were both still in our wedding clothes and we were driving by the graveyard that I went to three times a year. Moving away was going to be really hard but we both wanted it and I knew that moving away might be good for me. I grabbed her hand as we walked through the maze of tombstones and we stopped in front of one. I watched as Bailey knelt down, placing the bouquet in front of it.

"Hey Mom," I whispered, "I got married today. I wish you could have seen it. Dad was crying the entire time as he handed me over to Bailey. You will love her when you meet her one day. She's everything that you would have wanted for me. You would love her so much Mom, probably as much as I do."

"Hey Mom," Bailey said, "Jo has told me so much about you. She looked beautiful today, I really hope you saw her."

I smiled down at my wife who was talking to my mom, well as much as she could. I smiled softly at what I saw and helped her up when she went to stand. I couldn't help but feel giddy as we walked back towards the car.

"Thank you," I whispered to her.

"I knew it mean a lot to you," she whispered to me.

I took her hand and we drove off into the rest of our lives together.
