Long Live the Reckless and the Brave

Forty-Two

We've been on tour for a whole week now. My dad and Uncle Rian actually trust Tom to bunk with Aubree. I was more surprised Dad let me bunk with Jack. I thought Dad was going to make him sleep with Uncle Zack, Nate, Uncle Vinny, and Uncle Grieco.
I was chilling outside in shorts, a grey tank top, black flip flops, and matching shades under the tent set up by the bus in my fold up chair playing my guitar. Dad had encouraged me to bring my guitar and play when I could so if any of the other bands he's signed to Hopeless with could hear me play and try to get Hopeless to get interested in us. I wanted to make it like Dad did and have a deal set up that we'd all be able to have the band out touring and making a name for ourselves when we were all ready to go for it.
"Hey Stella," two girls greeted me. I looked up from my guitar and I saw two familiar faces of my two best girl friends, Copelan Quinn and Grey Sanders. I missed spending the summers on Warped Tour with them.
"Cope! Grey! I've missed you guys," I greeted them, pulling them both into a group hug after I put my guitar down.
"So I heard through our dads that you and Jack are now dating," Copeland loved to gossip.
"It's about time too. He was crushing on you so hard last summer," Grey added.
"I was too. I'm just glad I have him now as my boyfriend," I told them.
"We also heard you, Jack, Nate, and Aubree are now an offical band. Serenading Sirens is a solid band name. I love that you pulled it out of your dad's lyrics," Copeland praised.
"How are you doing with your vocal training," I asked her. Her parents incouraged her to sing becuase she had a natural talen like I did and our fathers.
"So amazing. I actually auditioned for a band looking for a clean vocalist and I got it," she replied.
"How about you Grey. Any luck finding a modeling job or a band to manage or guitar tech for," I looked to Grey.
"I was hoping to help Tom manage you guys as an ATM when you guys do a tour and maybe guitar tech for you guys," she replied.
"Grey, you are so going to tech and help Tom. I'm making sure of it," I hugged her. Then I saw Copeland's boyfriend, Vic's son Vince, walk up.
"Hey Stell, Austin and I were looking for Jack and Tom," Vince greeted.
"Tom's working with Matt and Jack is out walking with his dad to check out their stage," I told him.
"Oh and Austin wanted to talk to you," Vince replied.
"Oh what about," I asked him.
"Not sure, he wanted to talk to you," Vince replied.
I went over to the Of Mice & Men bus and knocked on their door. I was greeted by Austin senior and his tall lanky self.
"Hey Stella, Austin was looking for you. Come on in," he greeted me. I walked onto the bus and I saw mini OM&M hanging out. Mini Austin got up and greeted me with a hug. He and I were good buddies and we've written a couple songs together last summer. I almost dated him, but Tom and Jack talked me out of it.
"So I was told by Vince you wanted to talk to me," I sat down next to Jake Ashby, Alan's son.
"Yeah, so since we're all taking over for our dads now, we need your help," Austin started.
"How so," I wanted to know more.
"I can sing clean vocals, but not as good as you or Copeland can. I honestly like how your voice sounds better than Cope's since you're an alto and she's a soprano. I wanted to know if you'd like to sing Second and Sebring with us," Austin offered.
"I'd be honored. Just be warned I'll be a little nervous since the biggest crowd I've played was 150 on a trip to a small in NYC a couple months ago," I told him.
I was warming up at the stage I was going to be sharing with my friends in Mice. My dad was with me, he was fresh off stage from his set on main stage and I was at the Tilly's stage. I was nervous. I could feel my hands shaking as I did my scales and practiced the lyrics I'd be singing. I was scared out of my mind. I was afraid I'd mess up this song. It was about Austin's grandmother, his dad's mom. It was also a huge fan favorite and was a huge hit. I didn't want to screw it up.
"Dad, I'm scared. What if I fuck up," I didn't give a shit if I had to watch my language. I was terrified.
Please do not let me fuck this up.

Notes

Like father, like daughter. Someone got her first bit of anxiety.
