Long Live the Reckless and the Brave

Thirty-Six

With two days left on the trip, Dad was taking us out into London again. This time, we were going to the places he picks. Which would be like a couple stores we didn't go to for me to find something for Jack, a couple monuments for us to get pictures of for everyone we left behind on our trip, and then we're going to meet up with some of Dad's friends that happened to be in London tonight playing a show. But by the time of the show, Liam was going to be watch by Grandma Gaskarth in our hotel room since he's too young for a concert that isn't dad's yet.
"So are you going to tell us who we're going to see tonight," I asked Dad as we made our way to the first monument on our tour plan, Buckingham Palace.
"Nope, it's a surprise," Dad smirked. He'll never tell us, he's too stubborn to spill the beans. I would know, I'm the same way for the most part.
"You are no fun," I scoffed as we continued on our journey through London.
When we got to the first shop of the day, I found it was full of cool stuff. I browsed the shelves and I found that a lot of the goods they were selling were cool, but nothing screamed out to me to get it for Jack. I instead got a Keep Calm and Carry On throw pillow for my room and left the store.
"Still no luck," Dad asked when I came out.
"Nope, I found something for my room, but nothing for Jack. I'm not giving up on this," I told him.
"Well, let's go to another store and see what we caan find," Dad led us on to the next store we hadn't tried.
Once we got there, I found it was something similar to Hot Topic. I ran in and I started looking around. I found a bunch of goodies that I knew Jack would like. I stopped dead in my tracks when I found the perfect gift for Jack. I went up to the shelf that had a Batman gift pack. It had a pair of novelty boxers, a tee shirt, a belt buckle, a small plushie, a blanket, and it was all packed into a black Batman backpack. Jack and I had a mad love for Batman and I knew this was perfect for him.
"Dad, I found the perfect gift for Jack," I told him as I showed him the gift bundle.
"Alright, this will be the last thing you buy on our trip," Dad said as we went to pay for it. I was so happy I found the perfect gift for my boyfriend. Oh he was going to love this.
It was the evening and it was time for Dad, Tom, and I to head out for the concert Dad was taking us to. Liam was left with Grandma Gaskarth and we set out for the venue. I was excited to go to a concert with Dad. I rarely went to shows with Dad. Most of the time, it us going to Dad's hometown shows when he was stopping in town during a tour, or he was watching me from the crowd at one of my "kiddie pool" gigs at a local venue.
"You need to tell us who we're seeing tonight, Dad. I can't handle this anticipation," I told him.
"You'll find out soon enough," Dad smiled and shook his head.
"Yeah, chill out Stella," Tom added his two cents in.
Once we finally pulled the car over and Dad got us parked, we walked to the venue to get in. I looked up at the marquee and my jaw dropped. Dad was taking me to see one of my favorite bands that wasn't his that was an influence on me. He brought us to a Fall Out Boy concert. I was screaming like a fan girl in my head.
"Dad, you did not just get us to see Fall Out Boy," I said, shocked at this entire thing.
"Not just brought you, I got you side stage to meet the guys too. I know you look up to Pete since he writes the lyrics for Fall Out Boy. So I called in a favor. Now come on," Dad led Tom and I inside.
Once we got inside Dad, got recognized by security and they guided us to where we could get back stage.
"Alex, hey man. It's been awhile since I saw you last," Patrick greeted our dad with a bro hug. Holy shit I can not believe this is happening.
"Hey Pat, I brought my oldest kids to come see you guys play. My daughter, Stella, is a huge fan of you guys," Dad said.
"I take it she's a musician like you are, Alex," he asked.
"Yeah, she and her friends are in a band together. They're name is Serenading Sirens and my boy, Tom manages them," Dad boasted about us.
"So what do you do in the band, Stell," he asked me.
"I sing and play rhythm guitar," I replied.
"Nice, I take it you are the one that writes the music too," he asked.
"I write the lyrics, everyone else writes their parts when I present the song to them," I told him.
"Then you'll like to talk with Pete. Let's go join the rest of the band," Patrick led us further into the backstage area to the dressing room Pete, Andy, and Joe were hanging out in.
The rest of the night, I had a huge blast. Pete and I talked about how we go about writing and he said if he and the band happen into Baltimore, he'll swing by to see some of my work to offer help if I need. I told I usually go to my dad for help, but I would love a third party to add input. He also offered to hear a demo from us to consider signing us to Decaydance if we wanted to hit to the big time.
All in all, our fourth day in the UK was amazing and I could not wait to tell Jack about it.

Notes

I was listening to Fall Out Boy and got inspired to write about Stella and Tom meeting FOB. Lucky kids.
