Long Live the Reckless and the Brave

Twenty-Five

My suspension was finally over and today was my first day back in school. Turned out I broke the bitch's nose since she crushed my hand and forearm. Bet she'll never try anything to me again.
Jack was carrying my books for me since I couldn't. He was rather chivalrious, which I adored. We just got done with classes for the day and Jack was taking me, Tom, and Aubree home. On the way, though, we were picking up Nate too. Good thing Jack was driving his dad's car, which was an SUV that could hold all of us.
"God, I hate her. She's made me so useless," I bitched as I looked at my immoblized hands.
"You get to use your laptop in class so you can take notes and leave your classes a couple minutes early with someone to help you out at your locker," Tom whined.
"At least you're not in constant pain from your bones being broken," I replied.
"Enough, we get it. You broke a lot of bones, Stella. Now stop fighting you two," Aubree got in the middle of mine and Tom's arguement.
"We'll do out homework and then we can have something along the lines of band practice. Seeing as Stella can only sing until she heals," Jack added in.
"Sounds like a plan," Nate agreed.
We finally get home and I find Mom and Dad sitting on the couch with Noelle in between them as they watch cartoons with my baby sister. Mom and Noelle stay focused on the show as Dad looks over to see all five of us taking our shoes off. I was forced to lean on Jack since I have poor balance since I can't use my arms to lean on the wall. After that, Jack helped me get out of my jacket that was barely able to keep me warm since I couldn't put my arms through the sleeves. Don't ever let your bones break, life becomes a bitch while you're in casts.
"You five will have to study in the kitchen," Dad laid down the law.
"Seriously," Tom complained.
"I want to keep an eye on all of you," Dad said, focusing mainly on Jack.
"Dad, let Tom, Nate and Aubree study in Tom's room. You can watch Jack and I study in the kitchen," I tried to compromise.
"Fine, Nate serve as the block upstairs," Nate nodded, sadly agreeing to keep Tom and Aubree from having any PDA while they're studing.
Jack and I went into the kitchen to get set up to get started on our homework. Jack was going to do the handwritten parts of my homework tonight since I still can't hold a pen yet due to the pain in my forearm. Jack got everything laid out on the table and he got us something to drink some chips for us to snack on. As I took my seat at the table to start working on my homework, Dad came in and sat down next to me and made Jack sit on his other side. Dad was now blocking Jack and I. God he's being too protective.
"Dad, do you mind," I asked with a slight attitude.
"No I don't," Dad replied.
"I'm not going to do anything. I can barley do anything with both of my arms fucked up," I told him.
"Cuss jar," Dad said. I stood up and he searched my pockets for a dollar.
"I'm reallly fustrated at everything, Dad. I don't need you being a distraction while Jack helps me do my work," I told him as he placed my dollar into the jar.
"She has a point. I'm more interested in getting her homework done as well as my own. If we'd do anything relating to PDA, we'd do it later," Jack spoke up, adding to my position on the issue.
"I'm going to watch and make sure you two do your work and help Stella if I need to. Now get busy," Dad said.
"How hard was Dad on you," Tom asked while he tuned his guitar for practice.
"He watched us like a hawk watches his prey," I told him.
"Ouch," Aubree added.
"Well once everything blows over, he has to lighten up," Nate said encouragingly.
"I'm judt trying to watch where I walk. I'd like to keep my man hood. I know your dad isn't very forgiving when it goes to you, Stella," Jack added as he wrapped his arms around my shoulders.
"He just sees me as his little girl still. He thinks I need to be protected when he needs to just let me grow up a little bit and be a teenager. Just play by his rules for now, Jack. He'll be fine with you once you earn respect from him by playing it his way. I promise," I turned around in his embrace and reached up to kiss him.
"Now let's practice," Tom said once he finished tuning his guitar.
So for the rest of the evening we practiced. I taught Tom the cords he'd need to play for each of our orginial songs since he knew our covers just like we did. The main reason of this practice was to get him ready to play our next gig out at some small club in Baltimore I forgot the name to. What was going to be a bummer was that I had to stand in one place by a mic stand the entire show, which meant the show was going to be pretty boring on my end. But I was still going through with it since we owed to the promoter that booke dus and the people that were paying to see us play. I wasn't going to let them down; which was a trait I got from my dad.

Notes

Nothing's going to stop Stella. Not even a pair of casts and broken bones.
